Adaptation Recs (Manga, Manhua, Manhwa, Anime, etc.)
Adaptation Recs (Manga, Manhua, Manhwa, Anime, etc.)
A list I'm using to recommend works which I may or may not have read the light novel for, but that I've definitely enjoyed the adapted version of, whether it's been adapted as a manga, manhua, manhwa, anime, webtoon, etc. I'll try to add notes on what the adaptation is and why I rec it to them, but there'll be a lot on here, so it's gonna be a WIP

Glad you're enjoying the list so far! This is just my own list of recommendations based on my reading/watching experience, and I read/watch a LOT of stuff haha, so if something isn't on here it's either because I just plain forgot about it when I was updating the list (like Youjo Senki or Overlord, which I definitely plan to add on here, thank you for the reminder!), because I simply haven't gotten around to watching it yet (Konosuba), or because I tried it but couldn't get into it just bc of my own preferences (Eminence in the Shadow).
That being said, I'm open to recs for adapted series to try out or give a second shot to, so if there's anything else you think is particularly good that isn't listed, jlmk!
@nubialsheep I really relate to forgetting what you've read. Happens to me so often too.
Oh and do watch konosuba. You'd probably like it a lot.
As for more recommendations, "Kino's journey" and "Shinsekai yori" come to mind. Kino's journey is a bit philosophical but a great read nonetheless and "Shinsekai Yori"(Or "From the new world" in english) is a book that i think everyone should read atleast once in their life. Though, shinsekai yori is a pretty heavy novel and not something you read for a light read. Its pretty heavy and reminded of "1984" but of a worse world than 1984. Its shocking, mind-numbing and will leave you empty after finishing it. But i think its something everyone should read as it asks some very important questions and pokes at topics that are very relevant in real life and some things which will leave you questioning what is truly right and what is wrong. And will have you questioning what is justice as well. "Shinsekai Yori" or "From the new world" is a definite recommendation from me and a must read. But be warned before reading it as it is a slow burner.
@Bunnyman13 oh man thank you again, I'd also forgotten about kino no tabi and shinsekai yori!! I enjoyed both of them too, but it'd been years since I watched them so they slipped my mind. Glad I'm not the only one with a mind like a sieve lmao.
okay I've left a tab open with the first episode of konosuba ready to go in it so I don't forget to give it a whirl once I have the time. looking forward to seeing how it is!
@nubialsheep hope you enjoy it as much as i did.
And it really feels good to see someone else who has read kino's journey and shinsekai yori.
