Dropped

Dropped
Judging by the ratings and reviews, plenty of people have read and enjoyed the novels. I honestly tried to finish them but failed due to various reasons. Maybe, these stories and I just have no fate.

P.S. I haven't finished reading more books than that, but with the titles listed below I believe there's no chance of me going back to them.

If I had to sum up my impressions of this novel in one word, that would be 'frustration'. The story had potential, unfortunately, the author didn't live up to expectations. The MC and ML are two-dimensional on a good day, mostly one-dimensional and at times I swear they're zero-dimensional! Oh, and their relationship is deeply unhealthy. The supporting characters disappear as soon as they're no longer needed, sometimes to be mentioned again briefly (like 300 ch. later). The antagonists habitually display negative IQ. The comedy feels forced.... more>>

It started off mildly interesting, amusing even, but deteriorated pretty quickly, imo. The more I read, the more unpleasant I found the characters, especially the MC's family: the mother is breath-takingly selfish, the sister is intrusive and pretentious af, the father thinks the best way to express love is to buy, buy, buy. The worst thing is that we're supposed to find it funny. Sorry, author, there're better comedies out there. ... more>>

As often the case, the beginning was all right, but I lost interest around the middle. I don't mind slice of life stories - if done well, they're very enjoyable - this one, however, feels bland. And while I'm aware it's a work of fiction, I need at least some semblance of realism. The inhabitants of the world the MC transmigrates to are sentient beings, they've been around for centuries, the idea that they need a modern man to teach them how to build houses or cook veggies is preposterous. Though ancient people didn't have access to all the information we literally have at our fingertips, they were by no means brainless or ill-adapted to... more>>

Dropped this one very early on due to a strong dislike of the MC's personality. He's technically an adult, but his behaviour and thought processes are those of a s*upid and obnoxious teenager. It's as if transmigrating into a younger body negatively affected his brain. The only things on his mind, at least at the beginning, are food (is he a starving ghost?) and his chrysanthemum, which he protects as fiercely as an old nun her v**ginity. Oh, this chrysanthemum joke - I swear, the author wouldn't be happy if they hadn't mentioned it in Every! Single! Chapter! ... more>>

You know it's time to drop a story when the villains in it are almost clinically brain dead but you find yourself feeling sorry for them, feeling uncomfortable about the protagonist's cruelty.... more>>
