As a beauty recognized within her social circles, Ye An was fair and pretty with a slender waist and slim legs. It was a pity that she had married a blind man.

The people in the know sighed one after another. Ye An, however, was at her happiest yet.

Rich, handsome, and blind. Wasn’t this the perfect husband that thousands of girls dreamt of?

After marriage, Ye An lived as freely as she wanted. Living in his mansion, spending his money, and running amok right in front of him.

Until one day, this blind man suddenly recovered…

Late at night in the bedroom—

The man picked up the clothes that fell to the floor with a smile hidden deep within his gaze. “Why don’t you continue?”

Ye An, caught off guard: TVT

A arranged marriage with one sided feelings turns into a man chasing his wife to the crematorium.

I really like the female leads personality. The male lead is pretty emotionless until he falls in love.

MC is Mother Teresa and ML is a rich f*ck-boi. He has been blinded in an accident and naturally is depressed. But. He is a f*cking adult. You could replace ML with a 5 year old kid and u wouldn't see the difference.

Plus ML looks down on MC, doesn't bother answering her questions (face-to-face!) and ignores her despite her attempts to engage/ help him. And this continues even after he apparently 'falls in love' with her.

At first, I found MC's attitude unlikeble. Who would bow and scrap to someone who... more>> is blatantly insulting/ humiliating you? Fortunately, her reason is valid enough that even though I am unhappy that such a good MC is wasted on such a ML, I don't really have any complaints.

I know ML will change after 50 chapters but I am not really vested in his changes. His reason for loving MC is coz she continues to be good to him even though he is tr*sh to her. So, he feels moved and loved. I hate such characterization coz it indicates if a woman doesn't go so low and sweep the floors with her dignity for a man, she isn't worthy of his attention and heart.

Eh, I might complete this novel if my mind is in a better framework maybe? <<less

Mtl'd this to chapter 60, basically my whole review will be spoilers because of later events in the novel, but to summarise: felt cheated because the author pulled a fast one on us about what the FL actually thought about the ML. Like a mystery that only tells you the key piece of information after the twist, this was unsatisfying.

Now, with that out of the way, onwards!

Spoiler

Normally, I live for FLs who exact their revenge on MLs, who show them just how damaging and entitled their behaviour is, and how they are worth more than temper tantrums thrown for no reason, unpredictable mood swings over the slightest thing and being ignored, and demand that they buck up and act like actual human beings.

But not this time.

For half of the story, the reader is led to believe that the FL has feelings for the ML - romantic feelings. She puts up with some pretty horrendous behaviour from the ML, is his emotional support, and seems genuinely invested in his emotional and physical wellbeing and his recovery. You know that the FL had some kind of encounter with the ML and that he most likely saved her, and when the FL's mother visits and opposes the marriage, you find out that a) the FL instigated her father to propose the marriage and b) she convinces her mother by saying that she loves the ML.

So imagine my surprise when we find out that the FL doesn't love the ML AT ALL.

Oh, no, it was all just to pay him back for when he saved her when she was 18. Now that he's got his sight back she wants him to fulfil her request to divorce because he treated her like sh*t.

Let me make it clear: I have absolutely no problem with the FL calling out the ML on his behaviour towards her. Go, girl, go, you deserve better.

What I have a problem with is that this felt like a unearned twist to the narrative: it's written in third person omniscient, so WHY don't we know that she never loved the ML? She does all kind of ambiguous things, including kissing, holding hands and sleeping with him, but oooh no, she's not actually in love with him. I was as blindsided as the ML finding out what she actually thought about him and it leaves a bad aftertaste and makes for an unsatisfying read. Like, I'd be pretty mad too if someone I thought I knew, was married to, and who had taken the initiative to kiss me multiple times turned around and said it was all a ruse.

[collapse]

I also have some complaints about how blindness is equated with having zero worth; multiple times it's references that "no one" could love a blind person, that blind people are unable to do "anything" and that the ML's life was "over". EXCUSE ME? One particularly fine example was the ML thinking that he could never fall in love when he was blind - like sight is necessary for that?!

Oh, and throw in some casually misogynistic actions from the ML's family, though those are pretty standard for CN webnovels.

The FL read like a toddler, with extreme mood swings - fine one minute, angry the next, then playful, was the usual progression - some deserved, some not. The ML I actually enjoyed. He was rage-inducing, but it felt like a fairly decent portrayal of someone who felt like their entire existence had lost its meaning/worth, though a bit tiresome/overdone towards the end.

As I've said, my main problem was the sudden revelation of the FL's character which, to my mind, was not foreshadowed at all. I would have preferred the ML slowly learning to live with his disability, realising that his behaviour towards the FL was terrible and improving it, and then regaining his sight (or not, it would be cool if he didn't, actually), rather than the progression that we got. But alas, I am not the author. <<less

I was gonna give this 5 stars but literally I'm mad for her. Literally what reason does he have for ditching her the first morning after - not to mention doesn't really talk to her except for two words until she gets back home at night. Literally in any other novel and in real life, that sh*t WOULD NOT FLY ANYWHERE... Like c'mon. The fck. Ok I know the FL doesn't care so I shouldn't but fk I'm petty.

This is a novel where the ML is trying to convince the readers he's good enough for the FL imo.

Also mad at his father/grandfather/chinese culture for a. Expecting her to take care of him while b. Expecting a baby within like two months casually mentioning at a chance while c. If something happens to her, does the "restrain yourself woman outside, stay inside more and don't make us look bad" comment = that one makes me especially angry since they ARE WELL AWARE HOW MUCH SHE TOOK CARE OF THEIR SON. Like yes woman ur life is a classy vase breeder lowkey vibe. It helps the ML doesn't think like that too.

Ok the ML does a character change redemption arc so he's by no means bad I guessss..... But honestly this is the case of the FL being really too good for the ml. Imo. I think the level of how selfish and inconsiderate he was to her for 2/3 of the novel (I don't blame him for when he was blind 1/2 but after his recovery I do take notes against him) compared how good she was to him 100% of the time... I just don't think the redemption arc was sufficient imo

I don't hate it. Iz ok. It helps that the ML tried to make up for everything but the writing by the end was less emotional and more linear. Aka I couldn't feel for it

I don’t know what story everyone else is reading but I had a huge problem with the FL. Reverse the genders and ask yourself if a man constantly touches a blind woman WITHOUT her consent we would call it s*xual harassment. She was not a bad person but many things she did made no sense it was borderline cruel and her attempts to be too cute was annoying.

To be honest, this series is surprisingly good. I actually really enjoy reading this so far.

What really makes it attractive and lovable for me is the FL (Ye An). To keep it short, she's a nice girl. Like, seriously SHE'S A NICE SIMPLE GIRL. I'm not talking about Mary Sue Nice, Forgiving Saintess Nice, or Gullible Naive Dumb Nice where everyone steps on her she's just a genuinely nice and normal girl. I love everything about her! I love how sassy she is at times, I love her confidence, her... more>> haughty attitude, the way she teases the ML (Xie Shuo) but wusses out, the way she complains about him but still ends up being nice/coaxes him to feel better, how she's easily satisfied, and doesn't stay mad for long (she's so friggin' cute).

Is ML perfect? No of course not. He lost his sight and his mom what else do you expect him to do? Obviously he's gonna be hella depressed. I'd probably be more of an annoying brat than he would be, I'd be crying all day and vent my anger at everyone if I was in his situation. I like him so far (besides that one incident of him trying to force himself onto her, that was a big no-no...) but the good thing is, he's coupled with FL. Both of their personalities complements each other and in this case, FL is the one binding the relationship together and doing the coaxing, communicating, all the hard work basically as of right now (but I feel like ML might end up doing that later keke).

The story itself is pretty basic but I like it like that. The Author doesn't throw in random things in your face and out of nowhere. I hate it when novels do that, things can get ugly quick when there's too much things implemented in.

So far so good to where I am. Will probably do a final update after finishing the novel.

EDIT:

My overall view after finishing the novel through MTL, my previous opinion still stands.

I do want to reiterate FL is so nice, especially to ML. And not because she's forced to but she's happy to because he's basically her ray of light when she was at her lowest.

Again, ML isn't perfect so don't expect a pampering President. Don't get me wrong I love me some of those but I personally prefer someone like Xie Shuo (probably one of my top ML's I've read). He's not a douchebag, just a very gloomy, inexperienced, and sensitive man that is slowly trying to learn how to coax and chase after his wife.

Nothing too crazy with the story plot line, very simple and not melodramatic compared to other cnovels out there. A very short and cute story is all I gotta say. The interaction between the FL and ML is very sweet and funny, I enjoyed it a lot.

This novel is one where you have to really pay attention to the small details in order to get to the bigger picture and how they correlate with each other.

I do want to say, to the review that commented on how they felt betrayed and deceived by the FL's actions; I'm not sure if you misinterpreted it but she clearly did say he was her first love. She even says she knows she's not worthy of him. She looks up to him as his hero/savior, his male god, and refers to him high as a proud son of the Heaven. He is "unattainable" and sees herself as a "stray cat/puppy on the side of the road". Yes she went into this marriage to help him out to repay her debt but she's willing to and is happy to help him out. Somewhere along the way though that little motive she had initially changed into her falling deeper in love with him. Plus she only said it was a debt to be paid because she thinks he deserves better, doesn't believe ML is in love with her, and refuses to end up in the same situation as her mom.

Also, in this novel apparently alcohol solves a lot of your problems. So when in doubt and you and your spouse is fighting, a drink or two should suffice.

Would I recommend? Yeah, if you're looking for a quick and simple read I say why not. <<less

Another high quality MC is in this novel. I especially love her strength. She has a harsh backstory and that made her more resolute in her heart. She's admirable and genuine in everything she does. ML is not much of a scumbag, at least not the same as he was in the very beginning of the story. He's actually a decent guy that is a tad bit insensitive. You can't blame him though, the circumstances surrounding him were huge distractions. I like the ending. I like how there are no... more>> irritating relatives that just pop up in the story. The main thing you'll appreciate in this novel is the character growth and gradual opening up of their hearts. <<less

The most boring ML I've read about in a while. I can't even sympathize with him for his accident and resulting blindness because he is such a flat character. Wasted potential. Dropped.

Light and simple reading.

Not much angst or drama inside but still an entertaining read. ML quite taciturn at first, well who won't when you are depressed. MC is quite likeable cause she's ain't that dense and can pick up some clues.

It's quite hard to read actually. You somewhat want to read but it on self-abuse level so you reluctant. I didn't drop it as I understand why he being indifferent and for his situation he actually doing not bad. Ye An herself experienced how it hard to have hope only for this hope to be crushed. But it still hard. She doesn't love him for right now and having this marriage out of gratitude for him as he saved her, as why she so active at seducing him - she... more>> find him sexually attractive. He handsome, she beautiful so why not. Well until he snapped. So obviously he will chase her in future. They are doing fine as for 32 chapter... But their relationship still more distressing than enjoyable. For now I put this book on pause. <<less

i finished the raws without knowing this was being translated lmao.
ML has great character development, he's your typical cold ML, but later learns to appreciate and love FL
FL is shamelessly funny, and both leads actually met when they were younger.

the story itself can be kinda boring at some points, but it's actually quite chill, nothing overly dramatic happening, so it's more of a slice of life to enjoy when you want something light to read.

I don't think I will reread this. The FL was too much of a pushover, always giving in to the male lead. I also didn't particularly like the ml, he felt rather entitled and it always seemed like the FL was putting for effort into the relationship than him. He had a 理所当然 attitude, and I felt he didn't truly take the female lead seriously. The grovel period was pathetic, and I constantly felt frustrated by all the ml's f*ckups which the FL would always forgive him for, so quickly.... more>> Girl, please grow a spine. The novel was a 3.4, but the translation was a 4.8. Also!! I also hated the microaggressions from the ml's family, like how the ml's father chastised the FL for airing out their 'dirty laundry' of divorce. Firstly, the FL was sick, so obv she would look haggard at work, and yet the ml's father didn't clarify things and assumed that she was acting out. It's pathetic how the FL doesn't even feel wronged or try to stand up for herself. <<less

The plot kind of okay.

Spoiler

Aside from the part where the ML try to woo the MC after his eyes got better, there's not much conflict at all. Not even with the MC father

[collapse]

In fact I'm more interested with ML adopted younger brother story with another side female character.
