There was a prophet who declared, “A hero who will defeat the Demon King will appear from this village.” The village believed in the prophecy because there was a boy who was skilled in swordsmanship and magic.

Eight years later, the boy became a hero and defeated the Demon King. However, at the same time, he became a person who would never return.

Why did the hero die?

Four years after his death, as his achievements were being compiled into literature, the truth behind his death was about to be revealed.

When I opened this novel's property page and see all those ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews, I started to wonder whether this novel is really that good or just hype. This novel has been finished, and there is not many chapters, so why not?

Several hours later, my reaction is....

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.....

This novel is for sure deserve all those ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews. The early parts of the novel has huge vibes from Final Fantasy 7's flashback arc, complete with a tragic event too. The ending is a little bit shaky, but not enough to take away the gloss of this novel.

This novel is proof that Japanese people does still have what it takes to write a good webnovel. A recommended reading for those who are disillusioned by all those 🇯🇵 dross with long-ass titles. <<less

"Memoirs of the Hero"

This title cames to my mind the second I finish this short story... The author is doubtful on his creation, but thanks to the fans who encouraged him, he gave us a very good story...

Full force 5/5 on everything... Not perfect, but it gaves you a good closure... This novel is one of the very good story to cleanse your mind if you read too much 'OP MC/Isekai/Harem' with almost the same ending...

This was such a well-written story. And the underlying plot was deep. Da*m! I was really shocked with the plot twist. It was something heartbreaking and made me cry. And then, there's that another big reveal...

Although it's short, it's worth the read.

Brilliant. Multiple tragedies, multiple plot-twists. No-nonsense, straight to the point, just the way I like it.

The only complaint is that it can get difficult sometimes to understand who is the one speaking. Some parts were confusing because of this, but I managed to understand everything eventually.

A wonderful short story, bittersweet and a nice read. The ending is a bit bland for me, it was ok but I had expected more. The translation is scrambled around chapter 6 & 7 and I had a hard time understanding the context and who was speaking, especially in the dialogue which translator used you when it was meant to be I.

I read it and thought to myself, "I wasn't expecting that ending... But it was great while it lasted." Do yourself a favor and give it a try. It's beautiful in its own right. The tragedy is a part but it's not the hero that a tragedy but someone who guides this story, someone who suffered so much only so that they can just see that smile. Such a beautiful story. 8/10

About translation, well, it's just pure MTL, translator didn't even edit it and just as you can imagine it's... more>> riddled with wobbly names that a get named and then in the next doesn't, using various names for one thing, simply inconsistency. Even our protagonist names aren't consistent, I've required to wait and see I'm not reading about another person. It's the story that worth getting 8/10 about the translation? It's 2/10. Worst.

All in all, if you can read MTL then give it a try. <<less
