“Senpai, won’t you help me get revenge on this school?”

Abuse, mistreatment, and discrimination based on academic abilities. Twisted values rule over this preparatory high school with no hope in sight. But one day, a mysterious girl appears to offer me her hand, possessing a mischievous smile, and hiding her dyed silver-gray inner hair from the school—Her name? Hoshimiya Kurumi.

“I’m going to drop out of this school. But, I don’t want to spend the rest of my time just running away…So, Senpai? Let’s destroy this school together?”

Unable to decline, I have no other choice but to assist in her ploy, as we spend our days plotting our revenge, preparing to start our act of terrorism. Spitting in the face of the school’s prohibition of relationships, we bring our guilt together, our lips pressed on the other’s, as we revel in this feeling of guilty pleasure.

“Senpai, don’t you think that a kiss is a proper way of rebelling against these regulations?”

This is our—the mischievous youngsters’—act of revenge as we cast aside common sense and hopes of a bright student life…All to start a fight to end the adults’ tyranny.

You probably saw the cover of cute girl lying down and went to check it out. Then you find the tags and you read the synopsis, and you find it to pretty interesting. This girl and MC taking revenge on their school, sounds pretty interesting right. Well...

the premise sounds cool and all, but once you actually start reading it's a bit abnormal.

lemme explain how the school works and how it came to be.

First, this company decided to create this school that can produce genius and said school has a... more>> ranking system. It's a bit like classroom of elite, but still completely different. Simply put, there's a high ranking group and low ranking group. The high ranking group, as you can expect is all arrogant like those nobles in Korean wn and isekais. And the low ranking group is treated badly and our MC is in that group. The teachers sucks too, they kick people's desk, write words like "tr*sh" and "worthless" on test papers if they get a bad result. Which is honestly just straight up s*upid, if you want to produce said geniuses , you have to encourage them, not telling them to go die. As they said in the novel, they are being treated inhumanely and poorly. But can't they just like report it? If they are suffering that much they should just report it to an authority that is not in school. This isn't like COTE, where you can't go outside without permission. If they wanted to, they can can waltz out and tell the cops and get it over with. But they don't do that which is why our MC and fMC are doing this revenge plan.

well other than that, that's the basic premise of this novel, but from what I know they resolved it at the end, yet there's still a volume two, which means another problem. The thing is that, after they resolve it wouldn't it just a romcom? Unless they want to keep the premise going and add some other plot, I don't see this being any longer than 3 volumes.

overall it pretty decent rn, though I can't give a definite score right now, just know it's gud (it's not for everyone).

Just some nitpicks that may or may not be resolved later.

Spoiler

They share first share a kiss in chapter 2, if you're not counting the prologue. Though they kiss not because of love? I honestly don't know if they love each other romantically, but it'll develop later for sure, based on the prologue. The reason they kiss was because fMC didn't like him smoking and he only smokes because it's refreshing and because it breaks the rule that the school put down. But there's also a rule that says no illicit relationships, so kissing will be breaking that law.

[collapse]

After finishing volume one, I can say for sure that it's decent. I'm not saying that it's bad, there were some parts where I got pretty immersed in. (literally every kissing scene) But there were some parts that were kinda edgy and cringe, and those parts could have been executed better and that leads to the biggest flaw of this novel for me. I feel that the story is trying to be intricate and kind of dark, but not go too far; for example killing someone, but it did it poorly. They tried to add drama and tension between our MC and fMC for no particular reason and it all just felt kind of force. It could've been our two main characters trying to overthrow the laws that the school has implanted, then them getting closer and getting some allies along the way and a couple of plot twists or interesting elements in there too. And it was like that until they kind of made it so that it's only MC and fMC, and they can only trust each other situation.

Like I said before, I don't hate this novel per se, but there can be a lot of build up and potential for this novel in the next two volumes. But I can't keep but think that it's going to be dragged out, since a lot of novels do that these days.

overall I shall bestow this novel a rating of 3.7 <<less
