One is the elegant young master of the nobility, the other a kind and simple commoner. These two vastly different individuals break societal norms and strive to adapt to each other’s lifestyles, jointly building a life of ordinary happiness.

This book is written with fluent prose, reading it is full of charm, and between the lines, it is filled with a lively atmosphere, allowing people to experience the true essence of happiness in the ordinary and common trivial matters within the story.

Quite a nice story. As said by some others, there are somethings that were left open and untied but overall the main theme is quite complete.

The characters are nicely fleshed out. Though it is long it didn't feel cumbersome. Not too much dog blood or faceslapping. The characters aren't overpowered and their problems don't magically resolve. No annoying nationalism, no annoying repeated descriptions of beauty (just short ones for ML that don't annoy you).

The ML gets a nice character growth. No dragging things for too long except for the main... more>> theme and no annoying misunderstandings.

Did feel a bit rushed towards the end as all the characters who were mentioned continuously suddenly disappeared.

Would have appreciated extras for the conclusion of villain characters. <<less

This is an old story but a good one (fits my aesthetic). I didn't feel cringe when reading it compared to other works from this period.

MC and ML already knew each other and had a connection before the accidental marriage proposal as described. They will naturally fall in love after that. Family relationships are also quite good.

The basic plot is divided into 3 parts, sequentially, cooking, infrastructure and investigation.

ML is basically a noble scholar. He is the most handsome man in the capital. He is not the best, everything developed... more>> very traditionally in ancient society. What I feel is appropriate, that kind of context is quite believable.

About the Emperor: he has a grudge against ML because of some things from the previous generation.

However, the invisible interactions between him and M, ML are very interesting. He's petty but not evil.

I just regret that the story is so short. Even though there are 214 chapters, the plot ends a bit abruptly.

Update: read more of the author's other works. There is a long article of over 500 chapters, mainly about career development, but the relationship between the couple is quite realistic. It is something very nice. Another shorter work, about 130 chapters, about second chances, is a novel about ger but seme the main character (top), also very good and complete and has a satisfying ending (although I really want more). <<less

I really love the story and the ending, a very well written novel.

Despite being a "slice of life", I don't find it boring. Rather, it's hilarious and entertaining for me. But if u'r a person who likes face slapping, fast love dev't etc, then u need to look for another novel.

I think this story was so strong that it went beyond the outline to a point where the author HAD to end it for a happy ending. The conclusion seems sudden because the main characters are still in great danger. There is enough unresolved conflict to write at least another 200 chapters. It is very clear that their little family will only truly be safe once the heir to the throne is determined in their favor. I also seriously doubt this emperor’s ability to handle his vicious concubine (the same... more>> one who instigated the emperor to force the ML into marriage).

This is a big flaw in many of these Ancient China palace drama stories. We get a happy ending, but these characters live in an era without true stability. Standing out too much early in the story and gaining power is great when the monarch favors you. Readers of this genre see too many backstories of favored ministers getting sent to the gallows to think that the protagonists will be just as favored by the successor.

This story takes it a step further: the emperor has been actively suppressing their family for the entire book. The ending of the book shows signs that the emperor might have improved his impression of them, but also hints that something bad may happen to the emperor soon. This could very easily turn into a bad ending for the family later if the emperor’s palpitations have anything to do with the vicious concubine. I really hope the author was just planning another story in the same setting to ride through the next part of story rather than leaving it as such an open ending.

Now that I have said the bad things, I actually love that the protagonists are suppressed by an emperor who basically enjoys pranking the child of his deceased rival. The emperor causes a lot of invisible harm, but it is light enough for the main couple to brush it off.

They are still able to live a more than happy life and are not bothered by being trapped in the grave of marriage with a man at the whim of a capricious monarch. In fact, the couple lives quite happily. They both had good impressions before the marriage. The ML was forced into marriage, but he was able to choose between two candidates (one who had been brought forward by himself). The emperor does cut off their descendants, but did nothing to their younger brothers who can still continue the family.

The reason I love it is that the development after reaching the imperial examinations in these stories is almost always the same. The ML is already successful in life before the start of the story. The imperial exams are hard and unrewarding work for a second generation rich kid. The emperor’s attention means that he is not able to arrange a good job even after the ML finally succeeds after years of study. In this way, we really get to see the protagonists of very different backgrounds go through thick and thin together. That is the theme behind this entire book!

The main couple is full of green flags thanks to their mutual respect. Recommended to anyone who likes couples who overcome differences with communication instead of long dog-blooded misunderstandings. The longest such scene in this book lasted for less than a day in the story and successfully resolving this makes their relationship take leaps and bounds forward all at once. I also recommend it to those who enjoy stories that only share what happens above the neck (kissing). Things that happen in bed, stay in bed. Nightly encounters are not described beyond making out, light wrestling, and the occasional comment that the MC can’t ‘win’ in the bedroom against the ML. <<less

Surprisingly easy to read since the flow is smooth. Downside is that the ending was abrupt.

It's a slice of life following our main leads and their two younger brothers. MC has a boy-next-door personality, while the ML is essentially the face economy of that dynasty.

The face slapping comes eventually but the villains always feels kinda childish since they are adults bullying a pair of teenagers.

Admittedly I skipped some of the Imperial Examination plotlines since I'm tired of reading those in ancient china novels, but overall it's decent. (I went out... more>> to buy a few baos back home thanks to them constantly talking about buns.) <<less

So far this novel is Pleasing... Except when the bad guys being bad...

But I'm absolutely pleased with the Ml's personality. Absolutely not what I expected in any angles.

I also Love how our MC can be straightforward. Doesn't fear voicing his fact when people trying to Frame him or bother his business.

... more>> So I would say the Faceslapping was nicely done. Though I can see the major of this novel is not about that thing.

This is a Food/Cooking novel, so while it doesn't make me hungry, it definitely makes me want to Munch, Swallow, and taste the flavor and texture of those foods. Don't read it with empty stomach for sure!

Anyway so far it's nice, and it's not just a simple slice of life too because ML brought the drama to MC's life.

I just hope the rest of the story would be Satisfying till the end 🙏🙏🙏 <<less

Even tho the title and synopsis sound kinda mediocre but I didn't expect I would quite enjoy reading this one.

It started off simple, a transmigrator from modern world to an ancient times, cooking and opening shops, then get married to a noble. Very slice of lifey.

But the more I read it the more I was intrigued by the plot. (I read the MTL for this lol) There's mystery and politics involved too, everything tied up pretty well even tho sometimes the author would speed up the process. A good story so far! Both leads have cute brothers with their own struggles and both are excellent big brothers that just want the best for them. They might be from dif backgrounds but there is a middle ground thats slowly being shown by the author, cant wait to see where it goes.

Well, this story actually is cute but took to long because several chapter for exam..

The ending is forced but you can still enjoy it.

Why I give this story with good star? Because I enjoyed it lol. Several people will find this story boring if you don't like slow paced plot
