Earlier in the novel, the cultivators of the soul pet realms are all so annoying and shallow, they all react very one-dimensionally. No one is worth befriending and no one has any kind of depth or sophistication to them. They all gather around like they're neighborhood aunties when the police come. Everyone is the same and it's so frustrating. The antagonists as well, they're really s*upid and no one ever points it out or feels suspicious of their hypocrisy (because they're also from the same mold). Only the MC and... more>> ML are sincere towards one another. It's abit depressing reading a world like this. You have no hope or faith in anyone else and it's really depressing lol. Even the MC's friend are business relationship. Other fodders on the side are transactional; you won't see them unless they have something to give/say/do business with the couple. Or become their soul pets. It's really... ah....

The MC's personality is kind of a boar to be honest. He bends over backwards a bit too much, acts unsophisticated in private (I feel sorry for the ML bc this is not attractive to anyone), and I get that he's pretending to be a pig to eat the tiger in public, but it's way too much and some instances it doesn't make sense. It just feels like he's good at dancing with long sleeves but is kind of spineless even when he can clearly choose to react differently. They're both too pacifists for me, but once they reach the upper realms do they start having to counterattack. I wish they'd just physically fight the FL and her ML earlier in the novel though, every time they show up I'm so upset I have to read through their condescending remarks and the MC/ML couple barely does anything. It's honestly so so annoying!! Not to mention the FL just dies off. No resolution whatsoever. And the storyline about the seed of destiny and world stuff just gets dumped.

The story gloss over details way too much, whenever some cannon fodder wants to know some information, they suddenly can trace it back and know what happened. Information dissemination in this world is ridiculously accurate and fast. Everyone suddenly seems like they gain 180IQ when it comes to uncovering traces. It's kind of disgusting.

Although there's alot of complaints, there's alot of good points too!! First of all being a soul pet master as their starting point is so fun. The characters all have auxiliary skills, but the main thing is their pet has to level up! This feels kind of like pokemon and honestly it takes alot of pressure off cultivating all the time. The pets all have very distinctive personalities and seeing them interact feels lively and vivid! Especially after the crow joins the rank, things started to get much more interesting in the latter chapters! The side characters also starts to have individualistic traits that stands out from one another, sometimes chapters feels like a mini episode! Super fun!

The story got alot better after they went to different locations. At the end it was kind of a drag because of the war, but it's still fine. <<less

I've MTLed it. What can I say about the story? It's definitely worth reading and rereading. The best cultivation BL story I've ever read. I especially liked playful banter between spirit pets. Cultivation system and business development are well thought out.

I'd have liked to read even more, but unfortunately the story is just 600 chapters long.

I love reading cultivation novels but I also hate it at the same time because almost of them became tr*sh after romance and harem become part of it! That's why I landed in BL world. This novel really make me love cultivation novel againnnn since they focus on the plot of leveling up and not on romanceee🤌🏻It becomes my holygrail since then.

Somewhere during my reading, the story kind of reminded me of Ye Yiluo's novels. But I kind of dismissed the idea since the MC and ML (as well as the side characters) aren't as hilariously outrageous as YYL's works.

I decided to check who the author is after I caught up with the latest translated chapter though, and it turns out to really be YYL.

I find the premise of cultivation theme that focuses on raising Soul Pets quite interesting and continued reading despite MC and ML lacking the romantic chemistry. They... more>> seem more like really good BFFs most of the time.

If you're looking for light reading that involves MC progressing from weak to strong, this is a pretty good choice to pick. <<less

Another awesome work from Ye Yiluo! I usually never last more than 150 chapters on any Chinese novels but this author’s works fascinates me every time. After I finish, I look back and then say “What, that was 600 chapters already?? I’ve finished it??”.

The summary says there’s not much romance in this and that’s kinda correct but I think the better phrase would: the romance is subtext and understated. It’s the way they understand each other implicitly, the way they’re both happy when the other progresses, the way they stayed... more>> together — just the two of them — through thick and thin, through all their grand adventures. They might not kiss every or hug or say “I love you” every chapter but I just FEEL the love in every interaction, in every “As you wish, I’ll go wherever you go”.

In terms of cultivation, the author’s works has a formula and it’s a formula I love. MC slowly becomes OP as the story progresses so he’s not OP from the start. MC is less powerful than the other MCs in author’s other works, which has its own charms. I love the comedy and interaction between MC and his spirit beasts.

The world-building is solid and exciting. I love MC and ML’s allies and I love how they think to escape in any situation. The most memorable side characters for me are probably the 2 antagonists near the end of the story because

They first hunted MC because they didn’t want him to grow too powerful and MC also has a powerful artifact/spirit beasts that they wanted to steal. One is the leader of a demonic faction and the other is a leader of holy beings of something because he was called a priest.

Then comes an enemy that will destroy every race in the universe. These 2 knows MC is their best chance to stop this enemy. They made a deal with the MC that they’ll sacrifice themselves to the battle as long as MC doesn’t pursue their people for the sins their leaders committed. And then boom, they did sacrifice themselves. Just felt very refreshing that these antagonists cared for their people and wanting the greater good.

Probably the best novel the writer has written.

I loved absolutely everything.

Everything was on point except for it being too short.

unique, simple to Rank, fun to see all kind of different combinations. The world of Soul beats was very fascinating. I'll call it Pokemon cultivation world.

Each soul pet are very interesting with their own stories and personality.

The plot is very fascinating, MC changing the course of the original story, saving countless cannon fodders from their original fate.

MC has a very laid back personality,

but will get things done when he needed.

ML is very polite and cordinal person. After the first ***** they became more like best friends than lovers. So minimal romance.

The comedy is always on point. The interactions between The masters and Soul pets is very intriguing. It's funny and refreshing. I find it endearing. There's no like big goals but we are casually doing different things to level undercover while earning money.

I like the main characters so much is the fact they understand they need to lie low whent they have secrets and treasures! They don't show it till its necessary then suprised the hell of everybody haha. I don't get why other characters in other novels always screams ' I have good things come kill me!' The people here understand how to hide. Though the littlest girls in this novel is highly annoying that I wish to get a few slaps to themselves.

Our characters will keep moving and settle down with their pets and do all sort of things. We witness step by step of their growth with no rushing like other novels. Eg next minute time skip

levels up without knowing how.

I really like the plot, just find there's every character has a story and we don't skim through them. They will tell us about their backstories. We also slowly turn these legendary pets into money grubbing soft rice eaters. You know what I mean when you read through.

Enjoy the novel! I Sure did I couldn't stop reading, dead tired 3 straigh nights of losing sleep! <<less

This is the only novel written by Ye Yiluo that I didn't find 'greasy' from beginning 'till the end.

Most of her novels have interesting starting point, but turns bland and even cringy as the story goes on.

Maybe because it's mainly focusing on cultivation, and not romance or any sort of dog blood plot twist with blood sucking relatives appearing here and there. Yes, you've read it right, blood suckers.

Ye Yiluo is too fond of childbirth and mpreg that suddenly gives birth to blood sucking children that will eventually steal the... more>> spotlight from the Protagonists.

Also, I love the fact that although Chu Ye is powerful, a genius even, but he's not the type of genius that overshadows the Male Lead like YYL's other MC. He's a genius, sure, but not omnipotent and omniscient. He have his own redeeming qualities and the ML does too.

Example, The MC is a genius formation master.

The ML is a genius Alchemist.

The MC have heaven defying soul pets, but the ML has them too. They complement each other, not overshadowing.

I even love the fact that they did not enter any sects at all, no masters, no disciples, just a wholesome adventure while self-teaching themselves. Sects usually ruins the taste of novels with masters and seniors that has almost nothing to offer, and even if they do, they'll get abandoned by the MC and the ML anyway because they'll go to higher continents.

I also love the fact that the romance was a bit slow burn and not rushed at all. I really hate cultivation novels with too much romance, okay? It's too greasy!

But this novel has a "just right" formula. <<less

even after they become strong they don't do anything about the original fl. Forget about killing they could have prevented her from being near them and keeping tabs on them. And then when they do something important they don't prevent people from following them. Even after helping the giants so much they were very much servile towards them and would listen to them on everything.

really fun read. Because it's cultivation BL story. I didn't have high hope about family love, rising cubs etc. But turn out to be so good (in ironic way, I read raise the kids novels some not as good as this one). MC is soul pet master, he and his partner raise some cubs, they's very big family 😂 he's love to spoil them, all of pets have characters and stories, it's fun read about how they grow up to be.

Still story's a bit lax because MC just want... more>> to have peaceful life, eat drink and play while in cultivation setting world haha. They're work very hard to raise their cubs.

Romance is okey, they're stay together and slowly get close to eachother. It's natural, they're testing eachother back and forth and some help from cubs. (Not have any 2 hand embarrassing here.)

World building and world setting development are very good. It's interesting even at the final a bit sail out into universe. It's still ok.

It's pity I like some side characters I want some extra about them (but I know they will live very long life and happy with their family) <<less

One of miss Ye Yiluo better story. You can see how much of a difference it is from her newest novel to her oldest novel.

Anyway, it's a good adventure novel. The whole name of cultivation is also different. What I love is her pacing of the story made it seems not rushed but also exciting at the same time. If you want an adventure story, then here is one for you.

Cons is that the romance doesn't seem to be there too much, but take it with grain of salt that... more>> at least both of them are together and MC doesn't take over ML roles.

Anyway, definitely a recommended one from Ye Yiluo list of novel. <<less

One of my favorite novel out of this author list of books. Fun to read. Its more complete than her other ones. All of the pets are so cute. They all want to be salted fishes and eat soft rice bc of MC influence 🤣. Wish there were extras chapters. 620 wasnt enough for me.

Auhor juat release a new Novel: The counterattack story of the cannon fodder family炮灰家族逆袭史 【连载中】. This new one very addicting.
