Anita wanted to end her unrequited love.

As the saying goes, when you’re out of town, you’re out of mind, so she decided to attend a university far from home.

But.

“Aberdeen University? I’m going there, too.”

Anita squirted out the water she was drinking at the sound of her falling like a thunderbolt.

“I suppose we can stay together?”

His red lips whispered the words without sound.

God, why are you doing this to me…

I’m alright with the cliché setting, classic rather; popular love interest, low-key+dense FL. But the writing is so weird.

There’s always a couple of paragraphs each chapter that doesn’t make any sense, sometimes redundant, as if just to fulfil the word count. Even the pacing makes no sense. It’s like short clips put together without any transitions. One moment Anita just arrived at school, suddenly it’s been a few days and she’s having a confrontation with Rudger, suddenly there’s a random cringey suitorwhile she’s eating ham sandwich, and very suddenly apparently... more>> theres another suitor that is also Rudger friend. Literally no transition or whatever. Just accept whatever's being spoon-fed to you.

Yeah, mini spoiler, it’s also a reverse harem. Add another cliché. <<less

My real rating is 3 stars, added another star for the translation.

Story kind of reminds me of 101st Confession with the whole "I like my childhood friend" cliché. The only difference is that Anita, the FL, doesn't confess to Rutger. She just chooses to run away from her feelings (mood). We also find out pretty early on that Rutger has the same feelings for Anita, so that's already enough incentive for me to continue reading.

Although, I did think about dropping it when he got pretty bad advice from a friend... more>> regarding his situation with Anita.

Spoiler

His friend, Liliana, suggests that they pretend to date one another to make Anita jealous. Rutger is obviously on the fence about it, but Liliana persuades him by saying that she managed to figure out his feelings for Anita so her plan WILL work.

It doesn't.

If anything, the plan kind of backfires as Anita pushes him away even more because he "now has a girlfriend." So the plan falls through pretty quickly. There is a funny bit though where Liliana is under the impression that Anita doesn't like her because of her "relationship" with Rutger, when in reality, Anita is just kind of indifferent towards her iirc. I'm pretty sure Liliana is going to continue being one of the "comic relief" characters due to this misunderstanding and her many antics.

Anita's relationship with Edmund, her senior, is also one of my incentives to continue reading the story.

Spoiler

She meets him for the first time while running away from a persistent love interest turned stalker named Charles. Edmund actually mistook Rutger to be Charles and tried to pull the "I'm her boyfriend" tactic, but Anita was quick to be like "you got the wrong person."

She ends up encountering him a few more times and we find out that Edmund is a huge fan of Anita's mom. When he was drunk, he often said that he would like be adopted by her parents. I believe he also mentions it again when he's sober iirc. Edmund eventually gets to help Anita with the Charles situation by using his status as the grandson of Earl Aberdeen, the chairman of the school they're all attending.

At this point of the story, Charles had once broke into her room. Some people may feel a little iffy about the fact that Anita needed the help of a guy with power/status to solve this problem, but I can't really blame her. It's scary to have a stalker that broke into your room once, and now you don't even feel safe in what's supposed to be your haven.

miaomin wrote in their review that the scenes are like clips put together without any transitions, and I agree. It tends to jump from here to there in just a couple of sentences, so it can get confusing for some. I'm sure this novel would be great as a manhwa if it ever gets adapted into one because it's certainly written like one.

I might edit my review once the story finishes because 40 translated chapters isn't really much to go on about when the story has 116 chapters + 6 side stories. <<less
