Welcome to the grand real-life escape room – Thriller City, where everyone faces the judgment of death.

Nestled like a beehive, this place is home to countless endless stream players. They frantically grind through infinite copies, earning points in a desperate bid to survive.

Every day, ranking data is announced over the city’s skies.

Copy hunting is broadcast live globally.

Pei Yi, a corporate s*ave in massive debt, in pursuit of his salary, stumbles into an old black building, where bizarre events unfold. Cold-blooded zombies fill the building, a woman crawls upside down, and death photographs abound…

At first, nobody had high hopes for Pei Yi – with mediocre education, brawny but often confrontational.

“Really too ordinary, has the vibe of a cannon fodder.”

“Nothing to his name but a handsome face.”

The whole world waited for his downfall –

Pei Yi, with a warm smile: “Heh.”

Later, Pei Yi’s name dominated all endless stream leaderboards, his name plastered on screens worldwide. Countless players looked up in awe as

a sweet mechanical female voice announced: “Thriller S City’s 740th newcomer champion, Pei Yi, with an S++++ perfect performance in Black Tower Horror. Enjoy seven days of continuous screen display! Congratulations, Pei Yi.”

The entire endless stream world thought they were welcoming just another prey, but they later realized –

He was their savior, the only one who could slay gods, a fallen angel, their deity.

EDIT (chapter 75) :

I'm a bit perplexed because the tone changed after the second arc. While PY and LZC are still not toxic (lol), the thrill side of things has become a bit.. choppy. The author has really interesting ideas (like, reall) but it feels like they don't know how to showcase them so the instances are a bit messy and they require an explanation at the end (self-aware author lmao).

I'm going to pause it because it's a bit disappointing, especially since I liked the character development in the second... more>> arc lol. I'll probably pick it up later when I'm less busy because it isn't helping with stress. The ideas are there, now if it could be polished too... it feels sadistic at this point lol.

ORIGINAL (at chapter 31) :

So. I usually don't comment early (or at all lol), especially without finishing a novel, but I know how a review can affect one's experience and I wanted to show a different perspective. Long review incoming because I just want people to read it and form their own opinion, even if they disagree with my interpretation. It definitely has potential!

TLDR: PY (MC's name, Pei Yi) and LZC have conflicting personalities and they're not perfect so they make mistakes (more on PY's side lol) but that's actually pretty realistic and I love it for now

First of all, I came in thinking LZC was going to the worst scum on earth or something but he's actually pretty normal lol. His crime? He tried to mentor PY. That's all lmao. Sometimes I feel like the other commenter must not have read the same thing because wow...

I actually really liked the second arc. First arc, we see a glimpse of PY's personality. He's brash, prideful, arrogant, acts before he acts and can't help but respond to provocation. A little annoying, but that's just the start and it's obvious he doesn't mean anything bad. He's like a little hedgehog, putting up spikes to avoid getting hurt first. He also pays a lot of attention to the livestream, and especially the commenters' opinion. He's like a this annoying little cousin who thinks he's stronger than everyone and acts like nothing gets to him, but it's obvious it does, and he tries to hide it by overcompensating.

As a reader, I have an external point of view - and I'm also not risking my life - so his rash attitude and mistakes are understood. But for the people on the livestream, who treats this as a game and a competition, they point it out, even mocks him and of course he reads it... and gets angry. Especially since he's getting compared to this god-like figure who's LZC. At this point, we know nothing about him, but PY starts to resent him because of how his fans act. I think that's pretty realistic, honestly. You often find people saying they won't get into so-and-so because the fandom is scary. It's obviously not LZC's fault, but, like me getting influenced by the previous review, he's already prejudiced against him without meeting him. Unfair, yes, but understandable - especially considering how hot-blooded PY is.

So it wasn't surprising when PY reacted badly when LZC, seeing his potential, tried to recruit him. PY was already seeing as a rival, and to see one's enemy come to offer advice and recruit him feels a bit demeaning. Again, understandable. A case of right person, wrong timing. Especially since LZC is the complete opposite of PY - calm, steady, he thinks before he acts and he always weighs the pros and cons before planning. PY, on the other hand, doesn't care. At all. He thinks what he says, he says what he thinks, and if people don't like him, well then there must be something wrong with them. Add to that the fact that he responds badly to criticism, good and bad, and you often end up with a mess.

Now to the second arc. I really liked it because it showed a lot of character development. I won't spoil the instance (game), though it was actually really novel, but I'll talk about PY and LZC.

First meeting went bad, but LZC doesn't care because he trusts his gut, and his gut is telling him PY has potential. After all, PY is crazy strong (due to his job), he can actually think logically even if he lacks a proper education and could have used some (a lot of) discipline. Not his fault, man never liked learning lol. We also get clues about his background that could factor into that, but that's not important right now.

What matters is that LZC tries to help PY by giving him constructive criticism, pointing out his flaws and how he could improve. And PY... doesn't like that. He doesn't hear constructive criticism, he hears criticism, which equals complaints to him. Just like what LZC's fans did before. Again, as an external observer, it's obvious LZC means well but he doesn't have experience dealing with people like PY, especially since he's younger than PY. So his advice becomes unwanted, and even taken as an insult. To be honest, no one is really prepared with tsundere-like angry hedgehogs so it wasn't the best start lol. But that also means the conflicts escalates, and even turns physical.

PY is also getting a taste of his own medicine in this arc. He acts prematurely to show off, but this time it backfires and he is nearly eliminated. Does he take LZC's advice? Nope, he gets even angrier and lashes out even more. Now that he's not winning anymore, people are less interested in him - especially on the livestream. Remember how I said that the chat's comments got to him? Well, there's less and less people and still criticism, but he starts to understand that maybe what the chat says isn't that important. He still doesn't (want to) recognize that LZC was right, and he reminds me a bit of those canon fodder arrogant young masters in cultivation novels. But here, he's the MC and he has some learning to do!

He starts to soften his attitude (not his words lol) towards LZC and even cooperates him. Good, right? He still talks like an arrogant little hedgehog but he's become ofter, definitely more bearable. At that point I was like omg little baby is growing!!! He's starting to use his brain instead of spewing anything anytime!!!!

But obviously nothing's perfect without conflict... and PY, not willing to lose (especially since LZC told him it was okay if he lost because he would still accepts him in his team), and also a litlle bit trying to impress LZC, goes absolute bonkers and gives his all to win in a competition he knows he's good at. However, it's really really dangerous and anyone with some common sense wouldn't try it. But PY doesn't have common sense, he only has conviction so gives his all, to the point of risking his life.

And now that's when LZC gets mad! Acting arrogantly was fine, defying him also fine, but trying to risk his life - nope. And now he's the one acting like a little hedgehog, to the displeasure of PY who thought he'd be getting praise (that was actually pretty cute, him unconsciously starting to trust in LZC to the point that he wants to give him a good impression).

I have no idea how this novel is going to go, maybe LZC turns into a scumbag, maybe PY goes back to acting like a middle schooler in need of some serious supervising, but right now I'm happy. They banter, but it's not because PY is hurt so he wants others to hurt in return, it's just playful. And PY seems more calm (still wilder than me at my craziest tho lol) and grounded. So yeah, I'm definitely continuing. <<less

in the beginning arc, mc's impulsiveness was appreciated because he still seemed to be able to think rationally.

but in arc 2, we start to see more of his inner thoughts unrelated to thought process of clearing the stage and it really makes me frustrated how he's so easy to rile up and lacks rationality. The ML also seems like a tsun tsun character but he gives well meaning advice, just that MC isnt in the state to accept it. I dont know if he'll even ever be in the state... more>> to accept it. I get that the author is trying to write MC differently, as the not conventionally smart protagonist but as someone with flaws, but for now it's really frustrating especially since I look for intelligent, logical, strong protagonists in infinite flow. I hope I see more character growth from him as I continue reading

I decided not to go on after chapter 25. They mc's personality really isn't my cup of tea. From around chapter 100 apparently MC has been getting straight full scores but it seems he's still depending on luck and brute force to clear games. <<less

The story looked fine at the beginning but as it reached near chapter 90+ it became not so fun.

I just kept reading because I just wanted to see the ultimate plot twist and what really happened to MC and ML as it was foreshadowed all along.

It has the amnesia trope as well which I have come to heavily dislike.

... more>> The ending is open and unsatisfactory.

The romance is rather bad.

Idea could be good but the execution was lacking and as said earlier not so fun after 90+ chapter.

Read if you have nothing else to read for the unlimited flow genre but be warned that you might find yourself reluctant to read till the end. <<less

F-cking hate LZC. Piece of sh*t and disgusting right of the bat. I wish MC at least beat him up half dead the 2nd arc. I haven't read far but if that rodent is the ML then that's just another one of worst ML ever to the list. No chemistry what so ever with MC. But somehow his impression is overturned and they are lovey dovey teammates ever after :v.

I'm all for feisty MC but this one sadly flop. Can't read past Arc 2 because LZC was a supreme nuisance.
