Chen Dong recently discovered a shocking secret.

—— The handsome, long-legged barista at the coffee shop where he often goes to write actually has a crush on him!

Chen Dong had sufficient evidence:

When he went to the coffee shop one time, he was anxious after his phone ran out of battery. The next week, the coffee shop installed a shared power bank. Wasn’t this enough to show that the handsome, long-legged barista was quietly paying attention to him?

In response, Chen Dong’s good friend said, “The chances of …… Brother Coffee having a crush on you is even smaller than the chances of your rabbit suddenly learning how to do a backflip.”

Chen Dong was not convinced.

So one day, after the coffee shop closed, Chen Dong took his time packing up his things. He walked up to Brother Coffee and summoned the courage to ask——

—— “My rabbit can do backflips, would you like to visit my house?”

#########

Little Theater:

Brother Coffee: “Great Writer, how’s your writing going today? Were your thoughts smooth?”

Chen Dong: “Don’t call me that, I don’t deserve it. I’m just a newcomer to the world of literature, a researcher of children’s psychology and behavior, a financially struggling but spiritually rich lover of literature, a climber trying to reach the top, an ascetic searching for my own path, a brave explorer of the world, and a sometimes optimistic, sometimes pessimistic INFP!”

Brother Coffee: “……”

Brother Coffee: “Since so many people have come, why did you only order one cup of coffee?”

Cute hilarious and super fluffy.

This is the first CN I have read with such accurate depiction of owning a pet rabbit. From the organ structure to the astronomical vet fees and how you need find a rabbit savvy vets which are always two hours away and never near. The MC was even feeding alfalfa hay to his rabbit! I think the author really did their research.

As a rabbit owner I would just like to point this out because it allows for awareness in such a light hearted way

And yes rabbits... more>> can do back flips. Mine has. It's hilarious. But all rabbits are different. The mine did backflips on accident and she was always dazed after. <<less

This novel completely took me by surprise. I don’t usually gravitate toward slice-of-life or contemporary settings, but something about this story gently pulled me in—and I stayed. There’s no grand adventure or intense drama here, just the quiet beauty of everyday moments. And yet, I couldn’t put it down. The writing is tender and immersive, breathing life into even the simplest scenes. It made me realize that stories don’t need chaos to be compelling—they just need heart. More than just a comforting read, it’s reshaped what I hope for in... more>> love. The connection between the characters, especially Han Xun, felt genuine and deeply moving. A gentle, heartfelt recommendation for anyone who needs a little light, warmth, and hope <<less

Wow, this novel was great! It's all fluff - and the best kind of fluff. The fluff shines through everyday, realistic interactions and events. The combo makes the novel angst-free without being boring or repetitive.

I was impressed with the quality of the writing. You get a good sense of the characters - their feelings, motivations, and personalities - throughout the course of the story. The pacing is well done.

Highly recommend as a cute, fluffy, realistic, angst-free read.

I am absolutely in love with this novel! Everything is so fluffy and cute and wholesome. I don't usually like slice of life or modern stories but this made me fall in love. Even though there wasn't really anything exciting happening and it's just normal daily life, I still got hooked from very beginning. And this is all because of the great writing of the author. I'm also not the type to reread books but I find myself wanting to go back to this again and again especially whenever I... more>> just want to feel good and happy.

Also, this novel has set a nee standard for me. I want a love like they have and I want a partner like Han Xun.

Anyway, highly recommend this one. <<less

4.5 rounded up because of the characters. Extremely well translated as per usual for this translation group who's actually legit probably the only last one. I wish BG had more legit translation groups leftstanding.... Oh well. I think the translations just helped amplify how good this book is. I think without it would have not been as good actually.

This book is very imaginative and comedic and fun and I think the way it's written was really important considering I think this feels like a self-writing for the author since the... more>> main characters and author himself. I like author's notes at the end they were saying that the characters were not necessarily similar or contrast... They were just pieces of the puzzles that fit with each other and that is what I really like for books like this because.... When an author becomes too overt about how characters should be for the plot to proceed... It becomes a little fake and you've kind of feel like you've read something similar before. However okay, when you write it like that way for them to fit each other you are writing it and the perspective of the characters and truly letting them tell the story and how the story would go. And I think that is the charm and part of the story that makes it appealing. Even if you could tell how it was going, it didn't matter because you were trying to enjoy the experience because it feels real enough.

I will say say I did you know minus a.5 technically even though I rounded up because of the character writing because I thought The kind of like cliffhanger or like we're just about to kind of moments were a bit too much near the end even though it wasn't a lot actually.... It just felt unnecessary. Also I thought only straight Chinese guys really loved Harry Potter... And I didn't realize it was "legal" (I'm joking) for Chinese gay guys to be so obsessed with HP considering... Lol But it wasn't that intense... Just references I guess because main character is an author who wants to be successful himself.

Honestly I don't like children but children are a big market so.. It makes sense financially to even do this but regardless.. I feel like the book was really good about making every character funny in a way that's unique to themselves. Everyone interacted with each other and and was like didn't feel like oh the main character is the only one who's unique... Everyone is kind of unique in their own way and it makes certain moments really funny. And it breathes life to the novel by giving so many different perspectives and yet not losing itself or being confused by having too many perspectives.. It just adds flavor. And like makes the whole story feel more Rich. Without heaviness. I think it's really light and funny with a sense of natural ease. Even though I don't like children like I said, I think they wrote the children quite sweetly and I don't know I think the main character did end up finding the right genre for him. And the male lead honestly not against him at all. I think he's unique in his own way and obviously because he likes the MC and supports him.. I think that makes him quite special as well lol. <<less

For such a short novel, it was sooo good and sweet! It's a somewhat simple story about a struggling, aspiring author and cafe owner who opened up his coffee shop as he's in search of a sense of purpose. And he finds it in the aspiring author who frequents the shop to write his children's book!
