“Serafina, I wish to end my engagement to you.”

One day, the fiancé of the viscount’s daughter called off their engagement.

Seraphina, simply known as “the Seamstress” since she had no magic powers and was an ordinary looking woman whose only talent is embroidery, has had her fiancé snatched away by her beautiful younger sister.

But then a man came along and asked her to marry him.

“I am proposing to you this marriage as a ‘white marriage,’ that is, as a marriage in name only.”

Count Alexis Middleton, also known as the “Ice Count”.

He proposed a “white marriage” in which they would not share a bed.

Seraphina immediately agreed to the marriage and was allowed to use the castle’s sewing room as she pleased.

Seraphina was supposed to live a life of embroidery as a trophy wife, but as she spent time with Alexis, she found herself drawn to the Ice Count, who, contrary to rumors of his ruthlessness, was gentle and kind.

Moreover, she discovered that her embroidery had a mysterious power…?

A love story that begins with a “white marriage”.

If you are looking for a well-developed work with an interesting story, this novel is not for you. The romance between the characters is extremely fast, there is no character development and everything that happens are obvious cliches. But if you're looking for a novel to pass the time without caring too much about the story, this is the novel.

This story started from broken engagement cliche following by fake marriage turned into real marriage cliche. Yes, this story was full of cliches but it's still sweet in its own way. I didn't like this story's damsel in distress type of MC though.

Spoiler

She was a complete pushover. She barely could stand up to her villainess sister when the later cornered her. Even after she knew her sister was bad, she still had a thought to help her sister securing a benefical marriage with the help of ML, which thankfully was denied by ML.

Another dumb thing that made me reduce a star from this story.

Spoiler

MC's sister demanded her to make another handkerchief for her ex who was already her sister's husband which MC rejected. After MC rejected her, her sister threw a tantrum. I mean, it wasn't that MC's handkerchief wasn't available on sale, right? If MC refused, you could still buy it outside, no?

And with MC's power, I couldn't believe that the royal family and the church didn't set their eyes on MC yet. Who wouldn't want a power of protection who could help you avoiding danger and cure your illness?

Sweet, wholesome, fast-paced. Like the first reviewer stated: there's no true development, and it's a quick play-out of cliches. I probably gave it a 4/5 because Seraphina's power reminds me a little of book Sophie's from Howl's Moving Castle, but way more limited than Sophie's power. Would've loved one smutty chapter, but that'd remove my wholesome tag. What can you do?

I think this was adorable! It’s a short story, so obviously there won’t be any crazy dramatic character development or in depth story line, but it’s cute and lighthearted. Would recommend for a light read before bed to have sweet dreams of fluff and flooff. ≪3

It’s a cute, light read, and although it wasn’t exactly the most unique read, I did end up genuinely smiling at how cute the characters are.
