So far I really like it. The story is generic, with OP MC as usual. But I personally intrigued with MC past and how it's going to be presented in the plot. It's definitely interesting for me, since I'm not so picky about cliche.

This is approximately a 7-8/10 political intrigue sword fighter reincarnation novel. It's one of those "technically reincarnation but after chapter 2 it never comes up again" stories, and the plot is that our MC is an incredibly powerful swordsman who gets recruited to be the commander of a knight order in the capital for political reasons. He takes the job because he wants the money, and he's good at it. It is a power fantasy setup, but does not have a power fantasy execution. There's also absolutely zero romance.

MC is... more>> a very interestingly written character. Even though the story is mostly in his first person, it still reads as very detached from what is actually happening, in a way that is clearly intentional (he's an unreliable narrator). I guess it's trying to write a mostly mellow and not super emotional protagonist? Because he's strong, he kills demons easily, or knows how to train people easily, but he's pretty quiet and gets misunderstood a bit, especially at the beginning. He does seem to assume that the other night commanders are as strong or maybe stronger than him, which appears to be completely false, and it's not that clear why he thinks that, or maybe it's just that he's extremely cautious in fights. Anyways the switching perspectives is usually fun because it actually feels like a completely different person.

The plot is not revolutionary, but it's engaging and well written / translated. He goes to the capital, picks some knights for his order, and starts doing his job, meanwhile all the politics surrounding the knight orders try to influence him doing his job, and he shrugs them off or otherwise prevents his knight order from deteriorating. That's about it for the story loop! Overall it's a pretty dang low stress political intrigue novel, which is interesting in its own right.

His OP powerset is literally just "swings a sword really really powerfully" and generally being really hard to kill. There's also this bit where he can't actually use aura, but basically uses like... druidic power instead? Attuning himself with nature rather than enhancing his senses. Everyone is extremely confused about this, and his response is "man I wish I could use aura that would be better" <<less
