This story is quite rare, in fact it's one among itself. We follow the journey of a protagonist who have as goal, becoming immortal and rule over all the worlds. He don't hesistate to slaughter entire worlds and send is own troups to death, just see them as pawn for him to archive is goals. A story that must be read, take some time to build itself but worth it.

The start was actually pretty good. The setting was amazing, it had a lot of potential; where the MC can grow properly, expand his budding empire. The system was also done well, it doesn't have a personality and basically is just a program with reasonable rewards and quests. His personal development was also done neatly, from savage ruler to a somewhat reasonably cold yet effective and charismatic one.

However, it all went downhill, for me, fast around chapter where he finally managed to establish the empire, leaving it almost right away... more>> after he sets everything down. He got a...

reward from the system to travel to different dimensions, including fictional ones. So this is where it goes wonky and author pulling things out of his ass. We find out that the system was actually a powerful higher being wanting to do something different, being a conqueror, the rest of the gods didn't like it so ganged up on him and chased him for a long time. The system ultimately decided to just giveup and send its essence to a different dimension to wait for someone to fulfill the dream, found the MC which this essence then became the Emperor system.

This system will die and because of a major battle and that he basically carved out his territory out of that main world to make it as a personal dimension. Which is BS for me, even from the way the author setup the system at first. He used a lot of whatever essence he had left. So from then, there is no system anymore. Which is fine, but we also no longer have "History's Most Powerful Empire" but a dimensional travelling one, conquering and pillaging different dimensions.

And his "empire" safe in his own personal dimension, where he plans to make it "The Immortal Land" where people he get from different dimensions go to. lol

So, author had this idea then made a bunch of decisions which strayed away from the original one. I wouldn't be surprised if this "Ancient" theme will last. At the rate where MTL is, it's basically heading that way not long after.

I wouldn't be so disappointed if this was stated in the summary, but it wasn't. There is a kingdom building, yes, but it doesn't actually last more than 50 chapters. <<less

This is a really good kingdom building novels with lots of build up in each chapter. The way it portrays conflict is realistic as it shows how tension is like dominoes, it keeps bringing them down one at a time slowly making way like a poison.

The main character is getting serious development throughout the story as he starts from being a shut in to a person who knows the real value of life. He will survive using any means necessary as dying is not an option for him. All his... more>> soldiers are only tools as he will discard them like chess pieces.

His charisma also improves a lot as time goes on, making people worship and follow him.

Overall this novel has man twists and it makes you join along for the adventure. <<less
