it's a pretty good slice of life. not too long. wraps up in a neat bow at the end. a generally enjoyable read that doesn't overstay its welcome.

the only frustrating part ... more>>
Spoiler

was the communication between the MC & ML early on. The MC says something cruel and leaves for months (intended to not come back) then just shows back up one day and pretends it never happened. Yes, we the audience know why she came back.... the ML doesnt and hes very clearly scarred & scared she will just leave again. 5 minute convo could have helped him out

not a ton of conflict or any consequences of the isekai elements. the whole story is very soft. <<less

This is a very good novel. Sure, at the first few chapters it was a bit boring but when the FL and ML got together the story became quite sweet and fluffy. I got a bit teary eyed at the ending and was very satisfied with the ending chapter.

10/10 100% would recommend

It's a sweet story, lovely and with decent character development. The FL and the ML complement each other very well, where she was almost sociopathic he was almost too altruistic, both learned of the other and even adopted the other's traits; she learned to be compassionate and generous, and he learned to be firm and to put himself first. They balanced out each other very well.

It's a slow slice of life, romantic and cute. The "villains" are a bit annoying, but they are cleanly taken care... more>> of eventually.

It's the first time I have despised a 2nd ML so much, so just a heads up. <<less

I continued reading this after I read the "Peasant Makeup Artist". Another great slice-of-life story and more dramatic compared to "Peasant Makeup Artist". Recommended to read.

This is definitely one of those novels I'll pick up again to enjoy such heart-warming story again. The tags say it all: the MC and ML are well-suited for each other after much character development. What I loved the most was that the story didn't sidetrack to short-stories and focused from beginning to end on the couple till their deathbed.

Okay, listen, it takes a little bit to get into the story. But, trust me, it is worth it. Remember, this is a slice of life. There isn't a whole lot of drama or action. I absolutely loved this story, and I'm really sad that it's over. The translation is pretty good, but there are some pronoun swapping (she/he). Overall, 5 stars!

I meant to write to a lot earlier but didn’t get around to it so the story is not as fresh in my mind but I’ll try my best.

what I love: FL (and her relationship with ML)

what I hate: I read this too fast

overall, this was an entertaining read I love the character development from our FL as well as her personality in general. ML is a cinnamon roll and they go perfectly together 🥰. There’s no major plots or anything. Just a simple romance with not much bells... more>> and whistles. Pick this up for a quick (ish) read between all the angsty and dark stories that you’ve read for a breath of fresh air. <<less

Me: hehe, I am a heartless reader.

Also me, finishing the novel: *sob* (good, HE sobs)

This was really, really, really good. I was a little skeptical about how the author would get the MC and ML together - in light of the huge differences between them - but it was very well done.

I really appreciated the slow build of successes and the author touching on how rough it was to be a peasant. Having just read about the Battle of Julu wherein the Chu general buried 200k Qin soldiers alive,... more>> the conscription-as-death-sentence worries were real.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for a kind-of-farming (but more just being peasants) novel with a spiky MC and a super soft ML. Face-slap lite with a good cast of characters <<less

Hey, this is really good.. The plot and character development is well written. ML and FL here really compatible, they both not perfect but with both of them together, they're really a perfect one. I like it here ML is the innocent one and FL the cold one at first, but they're slowly develop to be good for each other. They're really the description of balance.

I think it's quite fresh one with FL the one is cold at first, you know the typical novel where usually ML is the cold... more>> one. It's not new, but still giving you the freshness there..

It's really light and and short. There's no real drama, like the genre it's really slice of life.

Spoiler

but honestly I really so very hate the part where the baby act like they're flirting each other. I mean their age at that time only under 2 y.o but daannggg, I can't say more. And when they're around 3 y.o it's getting worse. You understand it when reading it. It simple gesture for the adults, but when it described to the baby ngl it so cringe.

Ahhhhh the ending gave me a mixture of sweetness and pain wuwuwuwu. However, I must say that it's a very good story. This is my first time reading an FL who came from the post-apocalyptic era and travel back in ancient times. Speaking of which, I don't know much about the commoners' lives during dynasties since if all c-novels with Ancient China setting that I've read were always connected with power struggle, so I'm not quite sure how Chinese people live during those time. Nevertheless, I'm quite familiar how Chinese... more>> people lived during 60's, 70', 80's, and the likes (of course, I've known it from reading countless c-novels), and I think the way the MCs lived was very similar to those times. But there's actually no need to be too strict with the time and setting though, as the plot is very good. Just like what I said, this is my first time encountering such plot.

Regarding the FL and ML, their character development was so progressive, especially the FL's. From being indifferent to being able to think of ways to help her fellow villagers. It's quite touching. After all, as someone who lived in a dog-eat-dog world before, being selfish is inevitable to live longer, so the FL being like that at the beginning makes a lot of sense. The ML's development wasn't as visible as the FL, however, it's still there. He finally learned to say no and be a little more selfish. Now that I mentioned it, it turns out that their character, I balanced each other. Aside from that, I really love how sincere the ML is to the FL. Love at first sight or lust at first sight, it doesn't matter because he's very devoted and loyal to the FL throughout the story. Therefore, I really like the romance in the story. It's the kind of love which allows the couple to grow for the better. My only regret is that Shiyi didn't mentioned her background to Yang Shifeng. Well, it's not like it can change the plot, but nevertheless, I'm still regretful for that. Also, the ending was satisfying. The important character's ending was all written. But still, I got teary eyed with such endings. I'm never fond of endings like that because I'm getting sentimental usually. (It's not BE).

As for the plot, well, it's obviously lighthearted with a touch of reality sometimes. It shows the poverty of the common people, especially those in the mountains. And many times, when there's a change to their lives, I got goosebumps from being moved. I mean, how good would it be if there's someone like the FL or ML who thinks for the betterment of others? The plot is not concentrated with politics or palace drama which is typical for Ancient China setting, however, it's still excellent and moving. It's relaxing and sweet.

Overall, aside from the kinda confusing setting (world background), I'm very satisfied with the plot, romance, life lessons, and character design. As for the translation, well, it's also good. The only usual mistakes were the pronouns like his, her, him, her, etc. As for the rest, it's translated well. There's also explanation for unfamiliar Chinese words and idioms. A 10/10 for me. <<less

It took me some time to finally complete the author's series by reading this last one, and now I'm done. This was a quick read, but I'm still a little on the fence if it was worth the time.

This doesn't feel as polished as the other two stories in the series, there were some glaring loopholes that are still confusing me even after reading the story, and it felt like it tried to cover a lot story themes but it felt quite weak/lacked focus (food, farming, medicine, business, etc) and... more>> felt rushed. Compared to the other two novels, she
Spoiler

traveled as herself, body superpowers and all, to this different world.

I was also hoping for some character crossovers like what happened in Peasant Gourmet Chef. The character's mundane life also isn't as harrowing as the other two stories, the conflicts easily resolved and felt like mandatory story fillers, and perhaps the most unique selling point in the story is how FL emotionally adapted to her new surroundings.

The ML is just ok, did not have much character development (well he grew a little bit of a backbone towards some people) but he was fine. He fits the jack-of-all-trades mold of MLs in the series, but I guess I am biased because I realize I liked the ML of Peasant Gourmet Chef the best.

The relationship development of the MCs is almost unbelievable, starting from a one-sided love from ML, to FL liking ML's cooking but hating his guts for a little over a month, to missing him and realizing FL's feelings in a few more months. These have a little bit more romantic scenes compared to the other two. Finally, maybe it's just me, but I don't understand why they have to end like that - an almost unfeeling person turned complete lovefool by the end of the story
Spoiler

following the other even in death.

[collapse]
I guess it must seem such a romantic gesture that almost forced my eyes to sweat a little, I'm not sure.

If anyone hasn't read any from the series, I would recommend starting from here (though I realize that this may not be a good intro to the series), then moving to Peasant Makeup Artist, then finally to Peasant Gourmet Chef. If I would reread anything from the series, I'll likely reread the two or at least Peasant Gourmet Chef. So you may skip this one entirely unless you're like me trying to pass time. <<less

What a beautiful love & life story of Yang Shi Feng & Shi Yi. I sincerely love reading it.

Yang Shi Feng and Shi Yi are such a power couple who balance each other out. She is his world and he is her world as well.

I love reading their relationship from the moment they meet until the very end.

Their daily interactions and relationships with Grandpa Yang, Xiao Shi Tou and their own Tuanzi & Little Grapes are just too adorable to read.

Will reread it in the near future.

not much happens plot wise. It has a very similar feel to Transmigration: The Peasant Makeup Artist. Only this one focuses on medicine.

Both have very smart main characters and their partner is a gentle loving man who is very devoted. Shiyi, our fl, is selfish compared to the makeup artist one. Which is not a bad thing! What it lacks in plot makes up for it with character development.

And I love that. Shiyi's selfishness makes sense. Her reluctanctance to help others without any gain is because of her past. She... more>> lived in a world where kindness can get you killed which explains why she focused more on serving herself. Which helped the ML a lot in not being taken advantaged of by other people. While Shiyi grew some empathy with her love for the ml.

While I don't think I'll read this again, I had fun. <<less

This was pretty much a laid-back novel about MC's life after she time-traveled to ancient time from the apocalypse world. She had no ambition and only wanted to earn enouh so she could eat and be a salted fish. She's initially a cold and apathetic person but she gradually changed after met and fell in love with ML. Meanwhile, ML was the opposite of MC. He was a kind person and a bit pushover but after he met MC, he learnt to say "no" and wasn't foolishly kind anymore. They... more>> really complemented each other.

This novel was considered light and enjoyable to read. There's no excessive drama and misunderstanding and also, there's no political intrigue and scheme. Really recommended this novel if you wanted to read an easy read slice of life novel. <<less

A delightful and enjoyable romance-focused slice of life. There are a few minor issues regarding logic but aside from that, it's been great fun!

The protagonist is quite apathetic and anti-social, and reasonably so, given her circumstances and upbringing. The ML is perfect, no complaints there, and the annoying bad folks will be measurably annoying (no sweet potatoes here). Character development is present and you get plenty of perspective narrative from both main characters.
The medical parts are mediocre at best but thankfully both that and the MC's superhuman strength is not that big of a focus here.
Spoiler

seeing as people were complaining about the ML being somewhat of a pushover, a nice guy is his set up but he's never over-the-top nice. His uncle is an absolute pushover but managed to somehow care for ML in his own way, doubtfully with the aunty's approval. More likely, she's why he wasn't brought up at his uncle's but at his grandpa's. But seeing as it's his uncle's family, he never would say no to them out of gratefulness that he's still alive today partially thanks to the uncle. It's good character development that he managed to say no more often and be more resolute in decision-making towards the nasty side of their family.

Besides that, the fact that MC was rather foul-mouthed towards her child is not that bad. She was resolutely strict towards the son in order for them not to be spoiled. Ofc the main protagonist's children are never bad guys but realistically speaking, if both played good cop it wouldn't be a surprise for a child to turn out like the village chief's son. She's merely verbally strict and would humble him when people are over-praising him. It sure is a nice change compared to other child-caring novels where kids are unconditionally mommy's boys and are obedient and caring from birth and the father constantly fights over the mother's attention with his own kid, that's just creepy.

[collapse]

If to nitpick, it would be the ending
Spoiler

where MC opted to su*cide after ML's natural passing without a word to her children and grandchildren. Felt like she should've stuck it out a little for them, let them show some filial piety since they didn't have much time to do it because they spent their retirement traveling and the values in ancient times for filial piety were high too. I feel like it would've given them a lifetime of doubt in some parts of their children's hearts despite knowing how deeply their parents loved each other, their mother's love for them didn't measure up which shouldn't be the case.

A good slice of life story. Ignore the MC bg story. The rest is good. Even though the story build up a bit cliche, it’s a enjoyable too. No heavy drama or dogblood. Just a nice sweet story. ML a kindhearted man, sweet, love MC to death. MC is op as always, she kind due to the influence of ml. Lol, The extras is good, a bit infor of the children. The wrap up ending is good. Thank you
