Su Ke, the young master of the Heartless Sect in the world of cultivation, has been seeking the path of Dao all his life and has no desires or demands. But at the last step, he encountered a bottleneck.

If he doesn’t understand love first, how can he stop love? How can he be heartless?

To attain enlightenment as soon as possible, Su Ke constructed a world with his own hands and put his own incarnation in it. He would experience family, friendship, and love on his behalf. He would enjoy glory and wealth in the first half of his life, only to lose everything he gained in the second half. In the end, he couldn’t get what he longed for and died of depression.

Su Ke only needs to be attached to him when the world is ending to feel and absorb these emotions so that he can let nature take its course and achieve heartlessness.

Little does he know that, as the creator of this world, everyone in this world will be naturally attracted to him.

Everyone who sees him will feel affectionate toward him from the bottom of their hearts and fall in love with him.

Thus, when Su Ke attached himself to his incarnation, the scum gong of this world, everyone thought that Su Ke was the second personality of the villain scum gong.

He is different; he deserves to be doted on by all!

The villain scum gong, who is supposed to deeply love another person, has a sinister look on his face: “If I continue to pretend to like others, you won’t leave me, right?”

The older brothers, who were supposed to hate him, declared: “Su Ke is our younger brother. They are different, and we will never allow anyone to snatch him away.”

The protagonist who should’ve been afraid of him said: “Why is Su Ke the second personality? He should be the main personality, seeing all the beauty of the world.”

The protagonist’s gong, who should’ve given him his final ending: “Why won’t your eyes ever look at other people?”

The description is what compelled me to read this lol. It just ticked a lot of my boxes, what can I say? I couldn't wait so I went to MTL this, and it was more than understandable, maybe because of my long experience with MTL and chinese webnovels. The story has a few of the tropes that I enjoy a lot, so my review is gonna be inevitably biased and mostly subjective, and just a bit objective. I'm also not that articulate so I may come across as off sometimes.... more>> I know that this webnovel as a whole is far from being a masterpiece objectively speaking, and not everyone's gonna like it, which is understandable. I still encourage people to give it a try though, in case we happen to have the same preferences, or even if you're just looking for a change of pace.

•Plot

Story is quite original in my opinion. The plot isn't anything like what I've read before, and I believe I've read a fair amount already. The author's approach is quite novel, and although the story is within the fantasy genre, it follows a logic that I can strangely get behind with? Even though there's not much logic in stories of the same kind as this lol. And it's weird to seek logic in a fantasy novel, but I always find myself doing exactly that. Anyway, moving on, plot will definitely grip your heart towards the middle and end of the story. Story is angsty, and how I see it, it always has this depressing and unfeeling atmosphere that runs all throughout the story. Maybe it's 'cause we see everything unfold mostly through the MC's perspective, and he's almost always devoid of any emotion for most of the story due to the cultivation path he practices, so the story would give that kind of vibe. I appreciate how the plot's so creative, like how the author wrote that everyone inside the fabricated world would feel deep and unfathomable affection for MC because he's their creator, and technically their God. I find it fascinating 'cause it's what I think would also happen if we indeed had a God in real life that we'd get to encounter. The pseudo harem in the story is exactly the trope I've been looking for too (ain't spoilers 'cause they're already in description).

•Pacing

The pacing is excellent. It might feel a bit fast, but that's because the story spares no time to take a break, it's always moving forward, always in motion you know? In my opinion, I feel like the author used every second of the story to the fullest. And that's why the novel's so short. They didn't drag it on, there were no useless info dumps, nor any long-ass paragraphs going into the intricacies of the entertainment industry, business industry, etc that the reader has to go through.

•Writing

It's alright. Although the repetitive paragraphs describing the MC's appearance gets tiring and annoying. Almost every chapter has something written along these lines: 'his skin glowed like fine jade under the light', 'the sleeves of his shirt slid down revealing thin and fragile wrists', or 'he deliberately suppressed his frivolous peach blossom eyes, giving him an ascetic feeling', on and on and on. This can't even cover it. It's a pet peeve of mine, I don't think readers need to keep reading the same descriptions of how MC looks in everytime smh. If you look past that though, everything else is fine. I recommend just skipping those to save yourself some time.

•Characters

Well, a lot of the characters have their flaws, and the way the author writes them made them memorable for me, like how their thought process is meticulously explored by the author, specially towards the end of the novel... Characters pining for MC might land flat to some due to the fact that they basically revolve around MC and think about him all the time due to MC being their creator, so they'll inevitably come across as one-track minded. How their emotions were so strong are what shaped them in my perspective. The OG gong protagonist though.. he only appeared near the end and didn't have much presence, so I don't know about him.

-MC/Su Ke

I love his characterization. Indifferent MC is the trope I enjoy the most lmao. The way he sticks to his goals and mission too is what I love about him. I want to go deeper into this character but I'd just word vomit, so I'll just leave it for now. He gives me the same vibes as the MC from 'I Ran Away After I Was Forced Into a Love Polygon'. Especially how they both enjoy watching cartoons/animated series lmaoo.

•Romance

There's nothing fluffy or romantic here, so.. if you're looking for that, it's not here. No kissing, no sexual/romantic tension, nada. MC is a block of ice, everyone else loves him. He practices the heartless/ruthless path, so he's not receptive to romance, although he understands and accepts friendship and familial affection.

Spoiler

It'll stay that way the whole novel. He'll also proceed to succeed on his mission inside the fabricated world, which was to obtain Su Xingzhi's feelings, his incarnate, for himself, in order to understand emotions like love to then let go of those emotions and finally perfect his Taoist heart, making him completely emotionless and immune to emotions, just like his master.

•Ending

I was not prepared for the ending😔 I ranted to my sis about the whole thing too like.. it's a happy ending? But I was not happy.

Spoiler

I absolutely hate the ending. Would've rated the novel 3 stars if the story's other aspects didn't satisfy me so much. No because?? How could the three brothers enjoy the rest of their lives with MC while Lu Mengqing....😭 I just don't believe the ending either like, why would Su Ke decide to return to the fabricated world after he attained ruthlessness? Lmao. General idea, mega mega spoilers bro: Turns out Lu Mengqing (LM), the OG protagonist, was also involved in drugging Su Xingzhi (SX). He was clean about it, so nobody traced any evidence back to him. He did it cuz he resented SX, because of SX's tyranny towards him and his hospitalized grandma. To LM, SX always had everything he didn't have. Money, power, and freedom. LM says that in the first half of SX's life, he had everything and could do whatever he wanted. In the second half of his life, he had the love and company of his brothers/family and Su Ke (SK). Meanwhile, in the first half of his own life (LM), he had to struggle to get by everyday, facing hatred and criticism with his grandma along the way, and in the second half of his life, he had to deal with muddy competition inside the business industry and lost SK's trust and the bit of goodwill SK had for him.☹️ When SK left the fabricated world and returned to his own world due to SX's body not being able to host such a strong soul as SK's, SX went full-on deranged from feelings of abandonment and was left devastated. When LM found out SK disappeared, he went and tried every means to kidnap SX and bring SX back to a laboratory where they would attempt to draw SK out to replace SX, meaning he would've killed off SX. LM never succeeded in kidnapping SX. Anyway, when SK returned in his OWN form and found out LM's attempts to kidnap SX, SK ended up sort of hating him and losing the good image he had of him. After that, a series of events happen and SX commits su*cide, sending all his emotions back to SK as SX is his incarnate, then SK achieves enlightenment and returns to the world of cultivation, before going back to LM's world and spending his (SK) time with the three brothers, while LM watches from afar, content and implied to never appear again?? LM😭 I don't get it cuz MC perfected the ruthless path, but still went back to the fabricated world when his mission was already done? Did he feel like because it was his doing that the Su family ended up devastated and broken, it was his responsibility to correct it? But Lu Mengqing was left devastated too when MC arranged the OG plot and came into his life, so why didn't MC feel responsible for LM too, when both LM and SX are both people that've done their share of wrongdoings😤 It's just so unfair to LM that he ended up so broken and still was content for SK..

Nice story without cp with fake harem.

Lu Mengqing

Spoiler

Main wife candidate. Sweet but blackened, manipulative, such chara popular nowadays so if u like him, u will be unhappy at the end. As he deeply in love with Su Ke but Su Ke only pity him and have feelings of friendship as he thinks they have same beliefs in live. Naturally after he know that Lu Mengqing don't treasure others life as he is, he no longer feel connection with him.

I like asian novels, but what I like in western novels authors is almost always ready write happy ending for everyone, but in asian novel every harem member can only love one person or some readers will feel betrayed. It would be good if there's was extra were Lu Mengqing and Shen Mo'An fell for each other as Su Ke designed. But well, almost never in asia.

Su Xingzhi

Spoiler

His other self or avatar. Was forgiven after Su Ke knew that he was drugged, naturally pity him as he designed all his bad deeds. After knew feelings of familial love through Su Huaiming treat him as baby brother.

Su Huaiming

Spoiler

Hidden actual number one. Big brother through his love and affection for both him and Su Xingzhi was able to touch Su Ke heart. As we naturally knew how to love through our parents and other elders, Su Huaiming is that person for Su Ke. For Su Ke, Su Huaiming=familial love and that's why even after he became fully ruthless he come back with Su Xingzhi to their home. I guess so called filial pity, even if there's ruthlessness, there's also sense of responsibility for being grateful to his older brother, to care about him. Su Ke is soft deep inside and to Su Huaiming he is softest. I guess top 3 in Su Ke heart is his master, his best friend and his big brother. Basically Su Huaiming is ultimate card that allowed Su Xingzhi secure his place in Su Ke heart, and also part of reason Lu Mengqing wasn't able to win even bit of affection.

Su Yanlin and Shen Mo'An

Spoiler

One have nice level up from silly admirer to nice brother and other just... here? Seriously both of them felt like they come to make numbers. Although they are making book more colourful, without them it would be more plain.

And yes, it would be nice to know master and demon king love story. <<less

Spoiler

It was pretty good but at the end I feel sorry for Lu Mingqing, although he did some pretty bad things but he also suffered the most injustice. All the small and big tragedies concerning him were pretty heartbreaking and at the end, he became a cripple and even willingly stayed away from Su Ke despite his love not less than anyone else for the wellbeing and happiness of his loved one. I kinda hoped that he fell for someone else other than the Su Ke or that this was a harem rather than his bittersweet ending with more emphasis on the bitter part.
