I possessed a supporting female lead who played the role of the villainess’s lady-in-waiting.

Instead of the female lead, I get scolded and slapped by the villainess, and there was even a situation where my fiancé who is so in love with the female lead cleans her feet.

I can’t take it anymore!

Rather than continuing on the female lead’s route, I will transform into the world’s richest and most powerful villainess!

“What’s ever so wrong with our Lady? You’re much better than Seraphina!”

“I only need our Lady!”

With that feeling in mind, I was only being a little nice to the villainess.

“I’m only taking care of you because I will be bored at the party as I will be attending it alone.”

“A-ahh, I’m not giving it to you because you like it, all right? I’m only giving it to you because it’s rolling around in a drawer!”

Be it jewelry, dresses, and of course shoes as well, she even hands over her family documents to me?

And furthermore.

“Lari, if you marry my brother, we can become a family. Right?”

But that brother of hers is a man who only has his eyes on the female lead, right?

I thought he was someone who would never like someone like me, so I tried to ignore it.

“What makes you think I have no interest in Lady at all?”

“……Yes?”

“A lot, I’m interested a lot.”

Why is the male lead smiling so sweetly at me without any stopping?!

I wish I could like this more. The FL and ML and their relationship aren't my favourite sort (both FL and ML are the quiet, reserved type of people, I personally prefer teasing, s*xual tension) but I can respect and appreciate their mature relationship. Not in the sun sense but in that there's no major drama in their relationship like misunderstandings and negging and the likes. What made me soooo upset is how the plot kept going downhill from around chapter 70 or 80. More on that later.

  • Lalit is a capable female lead (as the tag in kkp says) in that she is good at managing a household. I admire her quiet confidence in social settings, I really like how she was calm, sincere and respectful when meeting the empress for the first time. Most confident female leads in KR rofan are quite 'loud'/aggressive, so this is a nice change.
  • Evageline is a really cute, cat-like ducal princess. The life of this novel, really. Contrasts well with the calm FL and ML.
  • Dietrich is capable but workaholic male lead. A total green flag. Sweet, helpful, thoughtful. Oh, powerful too. But it doesn't dilute Lalit's capable-ness, since Lalit does the thinking/planning and Dietrich uses his authority/resources to carry it out.
Now, onto why I wish I can like it more.

Spoiler

The first 30 chapters or so are quite typical - Lalit gets away from Seraphina (original female lead, fake friend, white lotus) and Gregory (now ex-fiance who has always been in love with Sera). Then she became friends with Eva, gets acquainted with Eva's brother Dietrich, and their relationship continues to grow. In between there's a little minor Seraphina and Gregory messes, but all's fluff and good and the world is peaceful.

THEN. GREGORY REGISTERED HIS AND LALIT'S MARRIAGE. ALL ON HIS OWN. The temple (well, mostly Priest Evans who is also Marquis Evans who is also Dietrich's uncle. did I mention he wanted to help Dietrich run the duchy until he is of age but Dietrich rejected him? I think you guys can see where this is going) accepted it.

Is the entire empire's society idiots? How can everybody (except Dietrich and Eva) think this is acceptable and normal? How can the temple not allow Lalit to see the marriage registration "because she came alone" when Gregory can submit the marriage himself? Okay, he has Lalit's seal, but COME ON PEOPLE.

The only saving grace is that this nonsense arc lasted only about 10-15 chapters. I cannot fully remember how this thing is resolved, I just know that the Dietrich did most of the work.

After this is when the author starts aggressively pushing the main villain into the story. The main villain, who... *drumrolls* is Priest Evans aka Marquis Evans aka Dietrich's uncle who wanted to manage the duchy in his place when his parents died from an "accident". I can't remember his first name... But yeah this Evans guy started using Seraphina, and they poisoned the empress and tried pinning it on Eva.

The showdown against Evans is not terrible if I think back, but during the time of reading, it's just long, repetitive, draggy. And the little romantic or cute moments in between aren't enough to quell the frustration.

[collapse]

Anyway, the thing I wrote in all caps in the spoiler is the most offending thing. It's not a bad read overall, I like the main trio enough to purchase the side stories. <<less
