Everyone knew Shen Nianshen so well.

Read the chapters available and then read the MTL version. It was actually quite readable if anyone was to do the same.

I honestly liked the story. I mean obviously, it was not perfect and nothing groundbreaking either. Poor and with a sad past male lead and a pampered rich female lead. The personality of the female lead might not be everyone's cup of tea but honestly, I have read a TON of school/university novels and I think it wasn't that bad compare to others in which I couldn't even continue... more>> reading the story.

Shen Nianshen (the male lead) had a sad and traumatic childhood because of his mother's abandonment. Many things happened in his childhood that hurt him deeply and wasn't able to forget. He was brought up by his maternal grandmother, to him the only family members he has. Sun Tiantian (the female lead) was a lively, cheerful, and bubbly daughter of a rich family which has always been protected by her father, mother, and older brother. She wasn't someone difficult to approach or mean because of her status, she was kind, emphatic, and a good friend to her dormmates.

Their first encounter was by chance and from that moment the life of the two change. Tiantian fell in love at first sight with Nianshen and when she discovered that they attend the same university she was over the moon. However, Nianshen had a reputation. He wasn't someone easy to approach and was described as someone with a cold personality. Due to the events that happened in his childhood, Nianshen didn't like to be touched. He didn't like women touching him. That was why he rejected all the girls that confessed to him even the most beautiful girl at the university. Tiantian was tenacious and didn't give up easily so when Nianshen rejected her multiple times, she still persevered. She was somewhat aware of him not liking to be touched, but she only thought that he was germaphobic, she didn't have any knowledge of his trauma and didn't know until later in the story. It is certainly true that she went over Nianshen's boundaries many times about her touching him and if you don't like that then don't read the story. But as the story progresses you will see how Tiantian helps Nianshen heal, accept and love himself.

She somehow was able to move Nianshen, but when he was told of Tiantian's status he was extremely conflicted. He knew that he couldn't give Tiantian everything she wanted nor afford her lifestyle. This was a repeated topic in the story and the reason why they had an on-off relationship. Tiantian was aware of Nianshen's family situation and didn't care. But for Nianshen it was different, he was an overthinker, and his past always haunted him. Their relationship went back and forth many times until Nianshen realized that Tiantian was the light in his dark and sad life. After that many times happened, and there were many hard times for both of them, they stayed together and fought against the odd while holding their hands and not letting go until the end.

I liked how their story progressed and there were many changes in them as well. Tiantian realized the difficulties of earning money and understood Nianshen's difficulties and why he worked non-stop. She wasn't as immature as at the beginning of their relationship. They worked hard to achieve what they wanted without forgetting the most important thing: support and hold each other. I loved how Nianshen worked hard to fulfill all the promises he made to Tiantian, including their marriage and starting a family. I had to admit that I kinda teared up when he proposed and when they got married. I mean they went through a lot of things to reach that, especially Nianshen. They were in a relationship for 6 years before getting married. Nianshen waited until the right moment to take that step with Tiantian, he didn't want to be careless or irresponsible so he waited until he was able to give everything to Tiantian. He said that even if she wanted the starts he will give it to her (*omg*). They were each other's rock and favorite person, they had a tactic understanding between them, even with one glance they could tell if the other one was feeling happy, sad, depressed, etc. I really liked how Tiantian give Nianshen space when he needed it, I mean she supported and worried about him in those moments, but she was able to understand that sometimes he needed to be alone and in silence. And Nianshen always supported Tiantian in everything she wanted to do. He just didn't want her to suffer any grievances but he also knew that she needed to grow.

As I said before the story is not perfect, but if you are looking for something angsty but also heart-warming then maybe you will like this story. 💗 <<less

Fortunately, I have you. Sometimes I think that God made me suffer so much in order to let me keep all the blessings, and then I have you now.

To whoever is procrastinating in reading this because of the 3.8 rating, you will regret it big time, just like I did. I've put on hold a lot of novels coz of the less than 4 star ratings like If the moon won't hold you, The flower of youth blooms when he smiles, nuptial chamber next door, and Thousand of heartbeats. If... more>> you live for the angst and wants realistic stories, these are all wonderful novels.

Their love was one of the most beautiful stories I've read. Both leads are very likeable. There was no black bellied/domineering CEO in his rolls Royce but just an ordinary poor guy in his motorcycle with his girlfriend delivering food at night and eating in the middle of the road.

One of the low rating comment said that FL is shameless when chasing him. But you know, like Zhen Yi said, men like them (Shen Nianshen, Yan Ge) need a woman like them to do the chasing. And with the self righteous thingy, Cheng Duo (FL's friend) only did it one time and that's when she didn't know ML's circumstances yet but after that she and Xu Li (ML's friend) became the wingman/woman.

she's supposed to only fall in her roller skates and held ML's hand for support but since he's "allergic" to women, he yanked his hand making her fall with sprained ankle and injured hand.

I like how realistic everything is. There was no third parties, annoying exes, nor exciting face slapping moments. Just two people trying to overcome life. Making their relationship work despite the distance, work and time.

Even the ML's work. In other novels, when ML's a genius and won various competitions, he's gonna be a CEO with his newly founded company after graduation but not in here. MLs path was not paved. After graduation, he had to work 14-16h a day as a white collar worker with no background, connection or resources alone in a strange city with just 1k in his pocket and even had to eat just 2 steam buns a day. Tho he's dirt poor, he tried his best to give FL the best things. Morever, he cried a lot. Not just once or twice but he cried the most out of the novels I've read.

And about the FL. When she said that she can endure and persevere together with ML, she proved it with actions. She's not just rich but rich rich however she ate whatever he can afford with no complaints. She had never done laundry, cleaning nor lived without AC. But for the first time she hand washed his clothes, even had to repeat it (that's actually really annoying), lived with him in a dilapidated rented house with just 1 electric fan. Most FLs need just 1 step forward and MLs would take the rest but not Tiantian, she's willing to meet half way and even if he can't, she can always take those 100 steps all by herself.

There's a lot of good points that I want to say but can't put in words. This is really a wonderful read, so try reading it. <<less

Actually the novel here doesn't have all the chapters, it's not even half of the story so the above comments didn't feel right to me. To me this novel is one of the best stories I have ever read. I will Seperately mention the goods and bads.

Goods: firstly the story is very realistic. It doesn't have any Scheming characters or plots who play tactics and do sh*t all the time. There is no family drama. And that doesn't make it boring because the plot is very realistic. It actually shows... more>> how a poor and a rich may fall in love. Two Young college students who fall in love and struggle hard in order to sustain there relationship. What I love the most abt this story is how beautifully those intense emotions are shown. I cried so many time because I could feel the pain the characters were in. Further, both the female and male lead sacrificed a lot. Especially the female lead went through a lot to support the male lead, it's just that it's in the other half of the story which is not here. If you want to read the full story it's available on MTL website, the full story has some 102 chapters.

Thus, if you are looking for a sweet, funny, passionate, realistic, believable with great characters, this can be the one for you.

P. S. It's my opinion and it can be subjective but u really loved the novel and that's why I would definitely recommend <<less

The female protagonist.

I just cant like her, she's arrogant and she doesn't care about "off limits" same goes with the ml's friends. This is literally shoving his trauma to his face. I cant stomach the chapters.

Don't like the FL or her friends. FL is shameless and her friends are the type that are self righteous and think of everything from their side.
