Despite being married for three years, everything seemed to be in vain as Wen Yan’s husband’s former lover returned at the perfect moment. Overwhelmed, Wen Yan eventually filed for divorce.

The amus**ent of her companions was directed towards her. It was an indisputable fact that their union was marked by an inherent imbalance of power. Her affection for Zhou Junshu was profound, but the matter at hand was simply how long she could endure the act of submissiveness.

Initially, there was a palpable sense of anticipation among the group for a day or two. Even Zhou Junshu shared this sentiment. However, what awaited them was the rapid response of Wen Yan and her legal counsel.

He viewed her as a replacement, ignorant of the fact that he too filled in for others. Wen Yan possessed a concealed secret that remained locked away in her heart, unable to be disclosed.

Ever since her high school days, there has been a man who has caught Wen Yan’s eye. However, as time went on, the distance between the two of them grew larger and larger.

Despite the impossibility of their situation, she persisted in concealing her feelings, keeping them locked away in her heart, and behaved towards him as if he were just another ordinary neighbor.

Only a matter of days prior to finalizing her divorce, she had an unexpected revelation. The man who she had previously believed to be beyond her reach appeared to have an immense interest in every aspect of her life.

As Wen Yan was pinned underneath him, her eyes glistened with tears resembling clear spring water as she blinked repeatedly.

“It appears that you have devised some sort of agenda for me.”

“Yes, since a long time ago.”

I won’t talk about the translation and just about the plot. I skipped some chapters near the end before skimming to chapter 71, and the author seemed to stop caring even before I did. The story is somewhat okay as an excerpt of her life, but without a clear beginning or end. Their past is always mentioned but not with enough detail to matter. The scum is revenged but gets an off screen end. I’m not even sure when he met his white moonlight let alone what prompted him to... more>> marry someone as a replacement. The main character’s own emotional history is just as confusing. The male lead supposedly comes from a good family but we never once see them. We don’t know anything about his past let alone his present. We can guess that he became her neighbor on purpose, but the author never elaborates on the buried motives of this scheming man. The only thing that is clear is that he regrets giving up on her (in senior year?) just because someone else made a move first.

The timeline is also a bit confusing.
Spoiler

They broke off contact at end of high school when she accepted another man’s pursuit as a way to bury the feelings she felt she shouldn’t have. She didn’t dislike the boy who would become her husband and did not feel resistant to furthering their relationship. She also didn’t actively search him out or she would have realized how odd it was to have never consummated their marriage years ago. The confusing part is that they have been married only 3 years but it is clear that a lot more time than this had passed: enough to graduate college and get established in their respective careers.

[collapse]

Overall it’s not bad for just a smut but lacks the depth to be anything more. <<less
