[Female lead with no romantic interest + ancient female awakening + passionate righteousness + refusing to be a submissive woman] After failing to conquer the emperor, the system punished me by forcing me to livestream modern life to ancient people.

The man I personally supported to ascend the throne saw me wearing a strapless minidress and dancing seductively at a banquet amidst revelry and wine, and he flew into a rage, accusing me of violating womanly virtues.

I smiled calmly and pointed the camera towards a modern street, launching a shocking livestream for the ancient people!

“Good heavens? It’s nighttime now, but what are those pearls shining so brightly?”

Female lead: Those are light bulbs.

“There are indeed objects in this world that can transmit sound over thousands of miles away. What a marvelous treasure!”

Female lead: This is a cell phone.

“How could the women on the streets dress so scantily and shamelessly flirt with men? Don’t they know propriety? Why hasn’t the county office come to stop these debased women and thrown them into pigsties?”

Female lead: Because this is the glorious era of China!

I was hesitant to give this novel a try after seeing the romance and genderless protagonist tag (which I removed). But I am glad I gave this a try. This is a very good piece of work with loads of face slapping, rapid plot progression and a pretty original premise.

It's really early to write a proper review, but it's basically what you see is what you get. The title and summary sums up the basic plot. With some nuances. The diffusion of ideas and technology aspect is done pretty well.... more>> There are some touching moments too.

The only con is that the interpersonal relationships in the modern world are a bit flat. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that her relationship with her parents and sister don't exactly fall into the generic mold of vile step sister+cruel parents. But the apple doesnt fall far from the tree. I wish they had explored the loving parents in modern world route but... expecting too much from CN novel...

That's fine. Chances are if you came here reading the title, you wouldn't care much about modern family drama trope either. Will recommend if you like the premise. 8.3/10

Edit: another con is that sometimes, the feminism can be a bit heavy handed and a bit left wing-ey (not expected this in a CN novel). <<less

I give it 3 stars (two and a half since its fun for a while but later mmm...). Not bad, but not great either. It becomes repetitive with the message at some point and the author rly borders the line of propaganda instead of story telling.

Its a fun "what if the ancients can react to modern china", putting focus on women rights and equality. The emperor is an idiot and sadly quite one dimensional, its disappointing so far he seems to be written to stereotype a misogynist man, dont expect... more>> much from his brain!
Spoiler

He so far has the chance to make a great empire learning what the MC shows and his focus is "how dare she forget me and dress like so and so", while those around him are more interested in what good ideas they can bring to the empire... In that sense, I wished the author did more with this man, at least so far its quite obvious he is written to be fodder and a comparison on what the thinking process back then was but without the brain of a man that should be leading an empire and lacks insight and wisdom instead.

[collapse]

Its not a novel for the ages and the writing is super simple, easy to understand and direct, to pass the time is not bad and there is enough suspension of disbelief. Another reader commented a plot hole, its explained once in the very first stream, tho that small explanation doenst cover details
Spoiler

like her moving her mouth or face moving and no sound coming out, to the void. There is a scene that confirms they can see her expressions and such, a friend made notice and she brushed it aside, but some of her reactions are intense enough to ask how nobody wonders if she is practicing mimes or has some issues

[collapse]

Be warned tho, this novel glorifies su*cide more than once, so I recommend u read at our own risk and the poster should add a warning. <<less

This novel had me crying omg. I honestly didn’t expect the amount of feminism but i’m here for it!! The FL is so strong and the way this novel portrays what women experience and go through is so sad and inspiring.

There's some minor plotholes here

Spoiler

for example about her system only gave her a mission on conquering the emperor yet it doesn't seem like the system even helped a bit until she returned to her modern world, there's also the issue of how she managed to talk to the Ancient people without other people noticing.

In later chapters from chapter 50 there's some problem with the gender of the protagonists

[collapse]

too much feminism at it's best and although it was clearly stated that there won't be romance I still hate how FMC does it

Spoiler

FMC gave a lot of excuses to her suitor which made me drop this novel. I don't mind if she only said no and didn't even gave too much excuses
