Self-proclaimed: A man, an ordinary salaryman, was killed in a car accident. He was later reincarnated in another world as a boy called Josiah. In order to get ahead as an adventurer, he uses magic circles to increase the efficiency of his magical power and earns a lot of experience points.

He kept raising his magic level, but he couldn’t acquire the only attack magic of light magic, [Holy]… By the time he finally gets it after two years, he is fired not only from his (public) side jobs but also from his main job as an adventurer due to the government’s cost reduction policy.

After moving to a neighboring country, he began to become an adventurer again while developing a magic circle that sought further efficiency.… but,

“This is a new technique!? It’s a great discovery!”

“Huh? Magic circles are old-fashioned, in this day and age, there’s no way it’ll be acknowledged, fool.”

“You’re working too hard! Why don’t you take a break…”

“What’s wrong with earning achievements! In this world, results are everything!”

“This person is crazy…”

He got involved in a number of troubles (?). Moreover, the country Josiah left is in great trouble… Is this a story where Josiah, who has a slightly different sense of values, is trying to live a normal life in another world? Maybe.

It's a little better than the standard trope. Instead of the obviously most valuable person being kicked out of their guild/party/whatever, the MC is leaving the country because of changes in economic policy. That makes way more sense then when the MC is personally fired by people should obviously know how much they're contributing.

The MC is strong which I like. I'm looking forward to reading more.

This webnovel is generic as hell. It's a failed attempt of a parody that slaps cliches left and right to "make fun of" and then move on. It might've been more interesting if there's a semblance of a plot going on but it's really boring so far. I probably would've been more hooked if I was reading a chapter a day or something.

I was going to write a big review, but since my wall of text got deleted for checking chapter numbers, I'll keep it short.

This story should have ended at chapter 65. It's the last chapter marking the ultimate fate of the Empire the protag left behind at the beginning of the story, and even has (Final) in the title.

However, the story keeps going after this, and ultimately goes nowhere, in an arc that felt wholly unnecessary, but may have actually been trying to tie the protag into the author's future... more>> works (for which there is a handful of introduced plot threads that end up feeling like nonsense), including an ending to this series that was done way more sloppily than the point the story was at by chapter 65.

Here's a few examples of annoying plot threads that happen after chapter 65:

Spoiler

Protag learns that his former student with the Clown job decided to become a notorious thief for funsies (this is actually revealed before c65 but is relevant for the below point.)

Said thief starts freeing "calamity" anthropomorphized weapons for funsies, dropping unresolved plot threads about one weapon who was the only male weapon produced who killed their master and is still at large.

Protag becomes a professor as part of mandatory process of becoming A rank (no new students of notes were produced as a result of this.)

Protag learns his lifespan has shortened due to pursuing Holy at all costs in his youth.

Protag creates a rejuvenation potion that only works on himself because of a niche skill he got a long time ago which had no use until now (the above point and this one happen within the span of like 5-10 chapters.)

Protag gets dragged into a love triangle between the elf woman headmaster and an as*hole elf misogynist professor.

Clown thief trolls everyone at the academy into self-destructing (socially) after just sending a calling card to the academy, causing the misogynist professor to (unsuccessfully) frame the protag and the headmaster to drag the protag off to the elf country to help train young elves and prevent magic circles from becoming lost art.

The nagging god who's been visiting to protagonist in his dreams cryptically reveals that an assassin the protag trained (and who has been a messenger involved in the plot recently) is actually the spawn of a different god than the one talking to protagonist and may come into conflict with protag in the future.

A "rocks fall, everyone dies" death is inflicted on a bus of 35 individuals back on Earth, explicitly as a tie-in to the author's new story.

[collapse]

I was feeling pretty OK about the whole story up until those parts and was willing to rate it more highly, but everything after chapter 65 felt like it had no real consequence and only served to drag the whole thing down. If you're still willing to read this story after reading this review, consider stopping after chapter 65. <<less

I liked it. The MC is a little ADHD and autistic so it makes sense to stop the story at 100 chapters because ultimately each arc are almost independent in the character development.

So it's sweet, it has good references and jokes, some are inspired but understood.

I would recommend it for a distraction but I wouldn't dream about it.

I vote 5 because it's average but not uninspired nor ugly to read.
