The novel starts off decent with a MC with great appraisal skill yet he is extremely naive. He goes around telling everyone he meets about his skill and its effect. Any halfway decent enemy would kill him and try to take his talented subordinates for themselves.

The story leaves alot to be desired as the MC just reacts to things that happen alongside being a passive wimp that doesn't desire control. Ugh

Not sure why this has such a high rating at the moment. The premise has good potential, but all the characters and interactions are pretty flat. There's little to no emotion and all conflict gets solved basically within the same chapter. Here's a basic chapter outline IMO:
    1. MC sees talented person with a "downside" (different race, woman, etc)
    1. Other people say they aren't talented
    1. Talented person proves their talent somehow
    1. Other people: "O wow"

Gonna keep up with it for a while because the chapters are short, we'll see how it goes.

It just seems like a very light-hearted journey of playing pokemon capturing talented people. MC is very bland and apparently untalented other than his talent to find talented people. So yeah.

Also, the system in place is really vague like bravery and talent equal combat power? What? The 11-year-old slum girl can take down most of the soldiers we see early on. That and (so far) potentials have a max cap and just from reading it kinda rubs me the wrong way with the system that talent is the only real... more>> determining factor for a person and it gives me the feeling that any kind of combat or struggle will be boring with how it's made out that if numbers are bigger well too bad. <<less

This story starts good and then just leaves so much to be desired then again it is pretty much the standard isekai. Through and through the start was nothing really special. Was just a bit glad the MC was not a born a genius able to do any and everything just trying but that quickly gets old. He is one to use the cliche power he was given decently but not overtly well honestly.

Basically this can be summed up to being a reskinned version of pokémon. All that matters in life is your talent and ability grade, expirience means nothing. Say you are a normal man with D class bravery, and you go through countless battles, surving each one, fighting tooth and nail, accruing expirience and skills to become a better warrior. You can can still get beaten by some 10 year old smuck with S class bravery who just held a sword today.

Imagine that? A D class war veteran, getting killed by... more>> an S class newbie.

But Rafael? What about raising your stats through hard work?

Nope, if you are D class you are hard capped at a certain number in terms of stats because your muscles does not become stronger through exercise anymore. And if you have reached your cap no matter how much you exert your body you wont get stronger anymore, no matter how many hours you study your intellect wont become higher.

This novel is trying to seem like meritocracy, but all that matters in life is talent from birth. No matter how hard you work you will never become better than what your ability class.

But that is only about the message, overall the MC is so wimpy and naive that its a miracle that his vassals has not been taken. I mean would you stay loyal to a guy who is not even fit to lead, if not for his cheat skill.

Now, how about the other characters? They are one-dimensional, and boring. They are akin to pokémon, after you get one better than the last the previous pokemon never gets any attention again.

And why are people who are oppresed the ones with talent (colored/women) the only ones with talent?

What about normal citizens? I mean how convinient is it that there are 5 S class characters in the MCs region?

PS. I recommed reading Overgeared, as it features a character with actual character development.

So basically:

According to this novel: hard work doesnt matter, if you arent blessed from birth you will never excel. <<less

This novel suffers most from one of the most key points in the story, which is, the appraisal skill. The story lacks depth because the appraisal skill doesn’t allow for individualism.

The story tells us that anyone with high Ambition is meant to be distrusted because they will betray the MC. Not that they ‘could’ do it, but that it’s ‘likely’ they will do it.

There is also the issue with how the appraisal values work and how the MC determines people’s worth (ergo, in this novel, if you aren’t talented like... more>> Steve Jobs/Napoleon/Alexander you’re not worth mentioning). Again, this limits any characters individualism and everything just comes down to the numbers. Which to me makes the novel boring and dry. <<less

Cliche isekai story with the usual naivety, bland story and no world building. It is blatant that the author put no thought into this project.

What does it mean to have past life memory? How does it affect the character's action, personality, principles or morality? What will they experience being born a noble? And how will that further shape the character? These should be the first thing an author think of when designing a character reincarnated as a noble. Why write a character like this if it plays no role in... more>> the story? The only reason I can think of is that authors became too lazy to think, which is a shame because why bother writing fiction if you are too lazy to be creative?

I am not a fan of these "nobles" becoming buddy buddy with just anyone, butler, subordinates, servants... seriously? Everyone gets to speak whatever they have on their minds. The butler insulted the young master's guest right in front of MC, and his reaction is to just act cute to get the butler to do his job; the soldiers get to question the young master's judgement in front of the lord of the house and MC, what? And neither the MC or his father reacted at all, absolutely ridiculous.

It's bafffling to me that japanes authors keep writing these, I mean their language and culture has a strict hierarchy, with formal and informal speech, based on age, status and stuff, not to mention a lot of arrangements in social gathering are based on hierarchy and seniority. Why would their fictional work be so lack of thought? <<less

Very very bland and boring. Especially the MC.

This novel is pretending to be a meritocracy but it's actually all about talents from birth. How tf does an experienced war veteran lose to a kid just because the kid has S rank talent? That negates decades of experience and effort. Like what?

Ugh. Also MC is horrible. So wimpy and naive. I can't believe how he managed to retain the loyalty of the retainer s as such a useless Lord.

I'm super dropping this.

It's an interesting idea, however, it's not written very well...

Actually, it's a bit early to tell how it turns out, but as it doesn't seem to be leaning towards being a harem, that's already a plus for me.

But, the execution is pretty bad. I'm not sure if this is due to the translator or author, but this is probably one of those that are better as a manga?

One of my favorites to read just cause I like concept. I see criticisms for it being boring but I don't find it that way. Its a matter of taste. I enjoy the social interactions of his appraisals and the fact he starts young and a small time aristocrat that can get everything he wants.

Chapter 74

no territory developtment, 3 year old m.c already knows war is inevitable but still not try to improve his fief's economy all he do is going everywhere finding talented people t doesnt even try to fortify their territory, ofcourse he dont have money for that

M.c telling everyone his appraisal skill for me its to naive

... more>> M.c meeting face to face with shady people inside the tavern -information dealer- doesnt even tried to hide his identity for common sense purposes and telling them he has appraisal skill

And lastly why he doesnt have any interaction with his mother? <<less

Started up good with potential and then went flat.

He end up hunting for skill people to employ them and then author tried to write about their interactions and a whole arc on it. While this sounds great character development but the author is just really bad at writing character interactions.

Also the disgraced novel strategy chick character is hell boring. Apparently she's better than his current person he "collected" but like what's the point? There is no given reason why I should care for two people with similar skill.

It seems like... more>> the whole point of the story is going around collecting skillful people, build some interaction with them, and then forget about them and repeat this formula. <<less

The MC make this novel hard to read at first, idk if it going to be better later but it failed me at first and I don't bore to read it to the late

MC was 30s when he dead but he act worst than real kid when going to another world feel like brain dead to me. The story would be better if MC not isekai but born original. Reading about a middle age adult man doing all bad act of an innocent kid make me feel uneasy.

I would rate... more>> this novel 4.5 star if the MC got removed from the story. <<less

It gud. Like it's the type of tr*sh one can eat without puking from harem/girls on harem doesn't get any further development.

At least here, it's at best, just gonna be 1 girl. That by itself is a major step on a harem-filled environment.
