Ok, so I finally finished this novel and I really don't know what to say. I'm not good at writing in English, so hopefully, no one minds my grammar mistakes.

First of all, the ML (emperor) is one of the worst MLs in the history of BL novels. Second, our MC (the emperor's son) is very, very s*upid. The ML was an emotionless monster, and his obsession with the MC... I don't think it was love.

The ML killed all his children brutally just to have a child with the MC. As for the MC's love, he didn't like this relationship until the very end. It was forced, and he even tried to escape, but ended up with broken legs and so much s*xual torture. I liked the smut scenes and the plot, so I give it 5 stars, but the violent parts and the way the MC's brother died made me feel so bad and cry a lot. The ending was kind of bittersweet. The MC loved his father but didn't like this relationship, and it ended up like that.

Now, I'll warn those who don't have a strong heart—it's a dark story, so be careful before reading this.

The other reviewers seem to be confusing this novel with Red Lilies. They are completely different stories.

My goodness!!!

This is was such a creepy read, omg 😭😭. The manipulation, gaslighting, g*ooming, victim blaming and both physical and mental torture — it's honestly among the worst I've ever read. The father, Yeonhon, is such a horrible person. This is an in*est omegaverse BL, between a father and son but they are not related by blood. It's modern and the father, Yeonhon, is the ML and there's a 19 years age gap with the MC, Kang.

Despite the struggle I went through — the brain exhaustion from finding the raws, running them through a machine translation, and reading that messy English version — I could still feel the horror while reading it.

So, the MC, Kang, isn't actually his biological son, but the ML literally raised him as his child. ML is the heir to a top 3 conglomerate in the country. He caused Kang so much pain! Gaslighting, brainwashing and manipulating the poor child for literally all his childhood to adulthood.

It was so disturbing reading that blatant g*ooming and witnessing all the pain Kang went through, and how extremely ruthless Yeonhon was with him despite claiming to love him. I can't even say I enjoyed it — I was just biting my nails the whole time because of how unsettling it was but the author did a job well done.

One of the things I think the author really did well was the smut scenes — they were minimal and realistic, capturing the dad's madness perfectly. It was romanticised at all, it was quite literally portrayed as r*pe and torture.

I low-key prefer Red Lilies because of the supernatural aspect and lore weaved together with the story.

I've only read until chapter 4 but it was soo good. I'm literally waiting for more translate chapters.

The prologues were so dark that I thought the whole novel gonna be this dark.

But first 1-4 chapters were very good and fun to read.

I would recommend this novel if you don't mind the in*est tag.
