The more ruthless the Palace is, the more miserable the loser will end up—this he understands. But what he does not understand is, why the brother whom he lived together with peacefully in the past, would so heartlessly humiliate him today. Asking him to beg for mercy, asking him to succumb to his knees, and even… asking him to tactfully entertain him. “Yong Shan, ah, Yong Shan, as of today you are the one who qualifies to succeed as a Crown Prince, what exactly is it that you want?”

For the past 16 years, Yong Qi’s gaze was never set on him. Despite being twins with his younger brother, Yong Lin, Yong Qi has always been directing his smile and laughter towards Yong Lin, and to him, Yong Qi deliberately alienates him. He does not understand, they have the same features and looks, and he obviously is his brother too, but why won’t he be intimate with him… as if he is humiliating him. “Yong Qi, ah, Yong Qi, why won’t you understand, what I want is very simple…”

I don't know about others but I like it.I know it's r*pe and all but when they add ML true emotions in between I can't see myself to hate him. If you put yourself in place of ML you would understand his thoughts. Even though he knew it was difficult he tries his best according to situation. So you can both love and hate him.

Why I love him?

Spoiler

He know that his mother has plans to kill MC but he safeguard MC including his mother and family, he gives him best room with fireplace, he got so emotional on the first kiss MC give him even though it was force, he was concerned when MC was accidentally hurt by him.

There was incident were ML brother whom the MC favoured hurt ML, the ML mother plans to have MC take the blame but he told his mother that MC is his life and hurting MC is hurting him and if he dies he is also dead.

[collapse]

Why hate?

Spoiler

It's obvio it's due to him forcing himself on MC. If I put myself in place of MC who was innocent but framed and stripped of his title as crown prince and then punished for it to bear this sort of pain is more painful then death. The MC even got fever after the first intimate scene. And I hate it when MC got hurt by him.

[collapse]

Why MC was framed? What did he do?

Spoiler

It was his father the emperor who did it. He knows MC is soft hearted and weak and thus not suitable to be king so he plans to remove him and to make ML the emperor. MC mother and ML mother both knew this. When ML came to know about this he was worried of MC hating him.

My favourite!!

Spoiler

No but I could be wrong as mtl it.

Please someone pick this!!! It has been so long since the last update.

Yes there is r*pe, but it was not detailed, and honestly I came here with full understanding about what I will read. I expect a lot of smut. But hen out of my expectation, it’s about a crazy man’s suffering in love. He also need to burdened with the power struggle within the palace. The smut not even 10% in the whole long 8 chapter I read.

I personally like the story, and my heart ached with ML, hoping... more>> he could love someone else who love him back. Unfortunately the MC still portrayed as weak and s*upid one who keep falling in the nasty scheme around him.

The manhua is beautiful. I love it. So please don’t give bad rating because the r*pe tag is there, people should know what they will found in this beautiful written/translated story. <<less

okay I know there are many negative reviews but most of them are complaining abt the r*pe. It's simple, see the r*pe tag and you're uncomfy? Don't read it.

Moving on, this novel contains a lot of brotherly angst which is what I enjoy so I recommend it to ppl who love dark and angsty novels. The MC is your usual gorgeous white lotus and the ML is black bellied and possessive. If you enjoyed this, u may want to try out "无常劫" (wu chang jie) which has the similar elements... more>> of brotherly angst and obsession. Enjoy! <<less

at first I drop this...

(probably because I read it with google translate, I don't really used to)

But suddenly I found "taizi" manga and audio drama.. it is quite good so....

I try my best to read it again....

(There must be something interesting so they made it into manga and audio drama right?)

UPDATE August 13, 2020

After continue to read it again,

I had no regret.....

Surprisingly this is an interesting story......

so good until I surfing on internet searching for a complete novel

You need to give it a try,

Subconsciously I found myself kind of hooked to it.... and supporting this two lover....

Spoiler

first I don't really comfortable about in*est... but the author serve it well, made me understand their struggle and finally I am happy for them

[collapse]

I love the sacrifice in the ending... very heroic... and the plot twist is unpredictable

The most important message of the novel is about love and families

I should just say "unconditional love."

I really hope this novel can be translated soon and there will be many people who can enjoy it...

Because it is good... it really needs to be noticed.

NOTE:

This is a 5 series novels

if you read it online there are 57 chapters (I hope it can be corrected in the novelupdate) <<less

The characters in this novel are so horribly written. It's like the writer wants the plot to go a certain way and so the characters do random things to further the plot that are totally out of character. In fact, there is simply no character - just a bunch of cliches stitched together to make it look like a plot. Also, the writer is downplaying r*pe. The ML ties up and r*pes the MC over and over again. Then he drugs him and r*pes him. But the MC falls in... more>> "love" with him anyway???? The MC is written in such a terrible way. He "loves" someone who treated him terribly simply because he showed him some care and instead hates his mother for trying to protect him in the harem and because she gave him sleep medicine to keep him from hurting himself. Kinda hard to like someone who is that dumb to side with their rapist against their mother. <<less

Starting off- I'm not going to rate this because quite frankly 4 chapters isn't enough to be fair with rating it.

But I have to warn for everyone venturing into this:

r*pe r*pe r*pe r*pe r*pe!

... more>> There is explicit torture from ML to the MC, all kinds of ab*se from physical to sexual. This is not a yandere ML. This is a sadistic ML who actually doesn't care about how much pain the MC is in. I get the feeling this is building to Stockholm syndrome at best.

I don't mind a certain extent of darkness in the relationship. Some manipulation, confining, even some Stockholm syndrome by itself wouldn't be out of my limits. But such blatant torture of the MC by the ML is too much for me personally. I like a lot of yandere stuff, but this is really too much... ML is a sad*st who happily r*pes and tortures the one he both hates and loves without a bit of guilt.

Only recommended as a read for people who are fans of MLs abusing MCs. It's not badly written, just EXTREMELY dark. <<less

Why is everyone taking advantage of ml? I just want him to be happy without them. He doesn't need any on them. Love can pass, you can find another person to love, everything he is doing isn't worth it. They think ML is so capable that they rely on him so much, "I know you care about me" bullshit, the mother and brother are so unecessary, the twin acts like he is younger by so many years. I don't even care about MC, he acts more like a damsel in... more>> distress than how women are portrayed in light novels. I can see why he shouldn't be an emperor, the dynasty would crumble in his hands. The emperor father was wise to dispose his title. I'm turning dumb every chapter I read, I give up. It's a happy ending but I hope it wasnt.

Edit, just saw it's released at 2009, this plot is acceptable then. Plots back then we're always MC victim playing and ML blaming when things could be resolved with talking <<less

The plotline was really mediocre compared to author's other works. It's a very simple story.

I found that reading the novel gave a more detailed scene and characterization, but reading the manhua was more fun.

The mangaka drew them beautifully and sometimes comedically. It's a pity there's only 81 translated chapters available up to now. I wanna read the complete manhua quickly.

Pretty good - not perfect, but it was well-written for what it is - basically a smutty in*est love story. I was surprised how much space the palace intrigues took, but it was a nice addition and felt like it balanced the not 100% realistic love story.

The r*pe is very brief and only in the beginning. There's some dubcon later where

[collapse]

.. But for this type of novel (I mean, just read the tags) it's really not a moral tale.

I found it a bit unrealistic how quickly the ML falls in love with the MC (and the MC here is the gong, Yong Shan, while ML, Yong Qi, is the shou), but when the romance turns mutual it was believable the way it was described. It's one of those novels where the s*xual chemistry makes the feelings come out (basically the MC is too good and the ML gets addicted lol).

The characters were generally well-written. While the ML is outwardly weak and seems like a pushover, when it really matters he becomes very firm and stands up for his loved ones.

I could kind of understand the MC and his actions, although I think it would have made the romantic development make a little more sense if the noncon had been left out. There didn't seem to be much point to it.

The twin brother annoyed me at first, but he gradually became less naïve and I ended up liking him.

I liked how the moral question of the in*est between the MC and ML was handled - how it wasn't overlooked at first, but all things considered, their relationship just wasn't the biggest problem in the palace.

Plenty of smut and most of it is consensual.

The ending is

quite sweet

Well, somehow I can't change my stars (as a new commer) so it's actually (and finally) 3/5.

First thing, I indeed loved the story; the novel was written beautifully keeping a natural pace. The manhua, on the other hand, was way, ten times better. Ngl after reading both the novel and manhua and comparing, the manhua turned out to be a brighter (and lovelier) side of this entire story. They didn't include some/most parts from the novel, which made the manhua give the feeling of a gentle and adoring read.... more>> But if you read the novel after the manhua, you'll understand... the regret and difference.

There's this biggest difference between the story and most importantly, the three characters' personalities.

Let's start with Yong Shan.
Spoiler

honestly, from my experience, the Yong Shan from the manhua was too... bright? He wasn't as cruel as in the novel. Well, perhaps I could be wrong as I didn't read the novel whole. But he indeed have a different affectionate side in the novel. The most irritating thing that I never wanted to learn from the novel was Yong Shan having slept with other women (court ladies they called) for relieving lust.... right, the reason why my entire love for the novel plummeted to a great drop. For rest, my memory's the culprit for not remembering.

[collapse]

For Yong Qi,
Spoiler

as from my opinion I would say he was a bit more timid and reluctant in the Novel. And then a person like HIMSELF sleeping with women also to relive lust is so SH#T — I don't understand why would Feng Nong taint a seemingly pure character like Yong Qi. Also, I also felt Yong Qi was a bit tr*shier in the novel, ngl; his Yong Lin-complex was described more openly in the novel. Eldest brother really earned some good tr*sh points.

[collapse]

And at last, Yong Lin, the biggest disappointment!
Spoiler

from that is basically his GREAT chr change — Yong Lin's only cuter and brighter side was shown quite nicely in the manhua, but the novel showed the true colours beneath; not only was he kind of obsessive but also more aggressive towards everyone. Now that makes sense for him to be Yong Shan's twin. It was quite disappointing but more surpring to see a deceptive purity turn into beastly adorable XD

[collapse]

With that all, my main root of disappointment is "losing v*rginity to random women" I won't be judging the author, she's my favourite, but as a reader's opinion, it was not needed.

It's not a fluffy or bright read like it's adaptation, it has more dark sides you'd never thing of after reading the manhua. R#pe is just one of them.... <<less

Aish... From the summary alone it screams in*est, and the comments, it screams r*pe. From those two alone I don't really think that this is my cup of tea but I'll try it for the sake of some of the comments saying that its worth a shot :/

didn't know what I was expecting, but it certainly was different than I imagined.

there's an actual plot that circulates around corruption within the kingdom hierarchy with all sorts of sinister plots or secrets in the background. it's very clearly translated and not so heavy or complicated on the politics to make you confused. the antagonists all have their own reasons, it isn't just some random conflict thrown in, and I was actually invested.

moreover, the dynamics between the brothers are really interesting. there are three main characters— yong qi, yong shan,... more>> and yong lin. yong shan and yong lin are twin brothers but completely different in personality. their relationship is pretty rocky, sometimes good, sometimes cutthroat (no love triangles, thank gosh). yong shan is an interesting character. he's not a complete cold, emotionless person. reminders, they're all just 16 years old. let me say that this story frustrates me in the best way possible— yong shan does absolute atrocities but you can't help but feel pity for him sometimes. you should heed all the tags and warnings before reading. I just think that the way the author handled yong shan's personality was very realistic. he has his sweet, gentle moments but his temper can change just as fast, even to those he cares about. he only has one main motivation in life that keeps him going. he's diligent and seemingly logistical but he's also easily emotionally driven. from constantly comparing himself to his twin, he's insecure and warms up easily to any given familial affection, and hates just as easily. well, I won't continue writing everything that he's struggling with, but yeah. (definitely not the victim here, tho. but he does have a lot of unresolved issues.)

maybe my standards are low but the smut is also really well written... compared to some that i've read. I find it really interesting because the author includes a lot of internal thinking during those scenes. at the beginning, not so much, but around the middle of the story where it gets a bit more consensual, you can see yong qi's struggle and yong shan's unbridled passion really clearly. their relationship is definitely not the healthiest, but it's not completely terrible.

lastly, the fight scenes.. whew. the conflict between the twin brothers is REAL. the way their relationship can suddenly turn from brotherly to straight up fight-to-the-death is strangely very natural. the story constantly teases you with things that go absolutely right— everyone's just having a good time, and then absolutely wrong— oh no, red flags everywhere. to me, that's exactly my cup of tea.

i would say it's worth it giving this book a try. as dark as the themes are, it provides quite a unique dynamic that leaves me wondering what happens next. the constant conflicts between the twin brothers, the secret plotting in the background, etc. really excited to see where the story goes. my only dissatisfaction is
Spoiler

not having enough major scenes with yong qi in it that isn't just fight scenes with him being the mediator or yong shan pushing him around. kinda wanna see him plot a little for himself... and wishing that the author gave more context to yong shan's backstory bc come on, that's some MAJOR bro complex you got just from yong qi favoring yong lin a little more

[collapse]

edit// saw from another review that this was released in 2009. I didn't notice at all. I even thought it was pretty on par with some 2017 novels i've read. <<less
