子遇ZiYu, JinYan’s ever so adorable friend dies in this book + good writing skills means that you feel every piece of emotion that the character would feel.

Of course before reading this book (the translations are not up so I read the original), there’s that sense of fear that the second book could never match up to the first in comparison but so far, the author hasn’t disappointed me yet. Something very serious happens in this book that makes you doubt the course of this beautiful couple’s future

The reason it’s currently a doubt (1/2 of the second finished), is because in the first book, there are a few additional stories in the end that speak a different story. But who knows? A good book always promises twists and turns.

I’m currently writing this review after finishing the first 1/2 of the book because I foolishly decided to leave the second part at a relatives house, where I won’t be able to reach it for another 2 days *dramatically sobs*.

As usual, our ever so loveable characters are delivered perfectly. 薄靳言Bo JinYan, now a proud husband, is as usual slightly oblivious (much to the fury of JianYao but only at the beginning) and amazing. (He is my ideal husband but god knows where to find a limited edition like him, but JianYao deserves him). 简瑶JianYao, is the perfect compliment to the once lone wolf, there are many funny moments between the couple and without her, to the words of JinYan, he would still be wondering alone, lost in this world without her.

With this book, comes many new characters, some good, some bad, but all intriguing.

You discover more about our genius tech guy 安岩AnYan, who gets cuter and cuter as you read on and may even find a match who’s equally amazing.

Although, just as I’m typing this, I suddenly realised something very important. The couple’s beloved Turtle 沉默ChenMo, isn’t mentioned once in this first 1/2??? Did I make a mistake, does he appear in the second?!?! Well we’ll see. I may update this later when I finally get a hold of it. As a fellow reader, I kindly advice you to have a box of tissues near by as you near the end of the book, because the way that the author has written one of the parts

, is just so horribly sad. Another twist comes, which you will know the backstory of because she appears in a few of the additional stories in the first book.

I apologise for making it confusing by continuously saying first 1/2, second, first book, etc. But that’s how the books come, each of the whole book is divided into two. So to clarify, if I mention any events related to this book, it will have occurred in the first half of the second book. The return of criminal psychologist couple, even I must wait longer for the complete translation of this novel but it will be thrilling journey just like I wait for WASL couple.

I will steady my heart for better or worse, hope the this series made into live-action and the mains reprise their roles. Out of Ding Mo's series only Memory Lost cant satify me.

so I just reached around 50 chapters on this novel. In the first place, I also read the prequel from this novel. However, knowing that I myself would not be able to bear any more tremendous heartbreak, I decided to read the last chapter. I know, I'm a bit of a coward, however, I could not stop myself. my point is, I, as a reader, need to prepare myself and ya'll readers too. I also want to warn you guys, new readers, that this story is not ordinary. This story would need you to think, and feel. The numbness, the happiness, the pain, and the sadness. I respected Dingmo for all of her novels. I LOVED each of her novels that I have read (WASFIL, WHCCYE) I really recommend you guys to read it. I will also be looking forward to the other novels that she has written. Perhaps if you guys know what other good novels, please recommend it to me, I would be delighted. <<less

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna read this one considering the synopsis, this seems to be darker than WHCCYE which is probably the first half aforementioned in the other review but i'll probably give this a try after it's finished translating since I loved the sweet love story of Bo Jinyan and Jian Yao.

(it's tough if the only language you know is your mother tongue and english)

Fyuh! Finally I finished reading this novel.. with translation of course because of my sucks Mandarin lol. So yeah as everyone already said, this story is MUCH darker compared to the first story, Love Me If You Dare. I really sit tight while reading this story, the amount of suspense and thriller is so... speechless. And of course Ding Mo will serve us many plot twists and turns and also unexpected backstory and fate for her characters. And for the ending, I can say that it is bittersweet but overall... more>> it is happy ending! I only can say, you will love this novel. This, for me, actually can triumph the first one for the plot and the amount of crimes and suspense. Thanks for the translators for translating this amazing story until the end! <<less

The story was good I understand why the author decided to have a prequel because when I read WHCCYE it left me wondering what about the past of Jian Yao I felt that there are still mystery around her father's death that was never answered in the first book, but with the second book all mystery were answered. The second book was more mature and darker but I loved the character development in this book. The story does not revolve around the two characters but we can see the side... more>> story of each characters and their love life, there are some chapters where I can't help but cry. Overall I like this book there are a lot of things happening in this book compared to WHCCYE. Happy reader here <<less

I gave it 3 stars because it is Ding Mo and the translators were good, I liked their prefaces on each chapter

I didn’t enjoy PD as much as Close Your Eyes or When a Snail Falls in Love (my favorite Ding Mo novel)

I’m not sure why CYE needed a sequel. I felt the mystery took second place to the relationships, and sometimes I felt like I was reading a fanfic romance instead of a mystery

I appreciate the translation team for the hard work they put in and those commentaries at the beginning of every chapter made ready much more intriguing.

After reading the first novel (When he comes, close your eyes) I have to say this one was on a whole new level in terms of the suspense and intensity of the plot. It was also highly emotional. Ding Mo really knows how to get us hooked.

All in all it was once again an amazing experience

I once reluctant to read this cause some of the negative review from previous year, because they said it's so dark and so on and so on. The truth is indeed dark, but maybe cause I read a lot of stuff similar cases like that before, so I don't feel so much. There were also heartbreaking moments, but it's still happy end for most of the couple.

As expected Ding Mo, never dissapointed. The story is the sequel of Love me if You Dare, so it's still the main couple lead.... more>> I thought it was a new couple lead, but no it's still the main couple from last book. Not complaining though, but I wish it more focus on the new couple because their relationship is really interesting to explore. But ding mo decided them as the side couple. That's fine. The writing or translation? Superb, the interacion is good, the world building quite vague, but we can imagine ourself cause it's the modern time setting china city. The plot is Amazing! And the mystery is good. One thing I don't like is the some of the villains, not the one from mu*der cases, it's like from the final arc. Among the volume, I really like the first and second volume. The plot was so thick I felt like I'm so genius and wow this is interesting. The last arc not so much, you will get what I mean, but it's still good. <<less

I was going back and forth wether to read this novel or not. Don't get me wrong, I love Ding Mo's works. And I definitely love "When He Comes, Close Your Eyes", the prequel of this novel. I just hesitate after reading a few reviews that mention:

But in the end, I can't resist the temptation. It's Ding Mo's after all. As expected from one of my favorite author, this novel is simply amazing. It didn't lose to its predecessor. I love MC and ML's growth in this story.

MC isn't just damsel in distress no more. She learns to protect herself and also ML. And ML's EQ definitely improves a lot (although sometimes his tongue is still venomous). I also love their interaction and tacit understanding just by their eyes contact. As expected of my favorite couple.

I'm just a bit disappointed by:

Li XunRan lacks of appearance. Author gives other side characters their happy ending but what about Li XunRan? Our 2nd ML deserves his happy ending too.

I just want to thank the translation team for bringing us this novel. It captured my attention and held me aloft at a dark and stressful time, providing catharsis and relief in the form of bittersweet character struggles, touching emotional moments, and incredibly sweet romance. Well worth a read, though the reader should note that this is a sequel novel to 'When He Comes, Close Your Eyes' by the same author. I did not know that, had not read the prequel, and still enjoyed myself immensely.
