A species that has the ability to hunt mutants, a perennial species.

One day, they suddenly find themselves isolated in Naraka, a place of torment. Seowoon was once highly ranked in his species and known for his excellent combat capabilities, but he lost all of those abilities after being secluded in the Naraka. Instead, he gained the ability to detect the emergence of mutants through the “Messenger”.

To escape Naraka, they need a Wu Ore, a by-product of the mutants, but Seowoon can’t even get close to mutants without being killed. Upon learning the truth, Cahaya makes a proposal to Seowoon.

“From now on, let’s work together, be my mutant notifier”.

With Cahaya’s help, he is able to travel back and forth to Seoul, but Seowoon finds it more and more difficult.

“Why did I push you away…….”

He just wants to deny the feelings that draw him towards Cahaya.

Such a beautiful novel 🤧👏👏

MAN, THIS DESERVES GLOBAL RECOGNITION even outside the bl genre. 10/5 stars for this. Award winning tag ain't a joke.

The world building is SERIOUSLY AMAZING that idk how Chaepali-nim have thought of that. The reveals are so thrilling. It totally exceeded my expectations from when I was reading the early chapters, I thought it's going to be like some hunting-system plot but didn't expect it to be THAT GRAND. I recommend reading this in one go/consecutively instead of part by part with long gaps since it's... more>> complex and to avoid confusion. What I like about Chaepali is she doesn't info dump and even without it, the countless infos
Spoiler

like cosmos, gates, perennials, mutants, levels, wu ore, planets, hosts, celestial beings and more

aren't lacking. And I really love her way of reveals, through memories or flashbacks instead of directly saying it in present times to the readers (same goes with her other novels). The start to the end connecting was and is still mind-blowing.

I'll be having a lot of spoiler tabs in my review but I suggest not to open it when you haven't read it yet, like pls.

I love all the characters, everyone got their own use in the novel plus the guild members' bond was the best, bros be bros. Kangsan is too funny lol. Han Donhee and Kim Hansol are my fav after CP

Delicious slowburn of CP, worth the wait and srsly like or maybe more than than a married couple, they even killed me. Power CP fr that they overcome the universe *coughs. The clearing of misunderstandings didn't only deepen the romance but also drove the plot itself. The banters, cuddles, words of affection, srsly love them so much
Spoiler

SEOHA WITH CAHAYA AS MOM AND SEOWOON AS DAD IS SOO CUTE, HIS LAUGHS AND JUMPING ACTIONS AAAAA AND COCO with the favorite Uncle Han Donhee. I miss Seoha AAA

I also love the reveal that Sansar's first love is Seoha too, she's cute as well. They're so adorable. It's too funny that Cahaya was too shocked that Sansar's a girl

Spoiler

Seowoon fainting in Sahara Desert, when he realized that Cahaya is his messenger and that Cahaya is all alone as a celestial being since Seowoon and everyone died.

Seoha/Setone's memories, where Seowoon had a recorder saying he'll die first and said sorry to Cahaya AAAA 😭

Ugly sobbing during the part
Spoiler

where Seowoon and Cahaya went back to Earth from Aso, almost everyone died but Han Donhee seeing them back got me bawling and Coco comforting Seowoon.

What made me cry the most is the part where Seowoon was siiting on Cahaya's seat telling 'messenger' Cahaya that his seat is where he always looked at him during their HS days. Then Seowoon runs out of the classroom chasing Cahaya's unreachable cosmos AAAA both povs was srsly heartbreaking. The atmosphere in there was really sad 😭

Chapter 231, 232, 233, Side story 1 ep 1 broke my tear ducts

And lastly, that ending for main story was WRAPPED UP SO WELL. I was scared that it might be a bad ending (despite of everyone is alive) but I still hoped for Cahaya's return and HE DID 😭😭😭😭😭 His return didn't ruin the whole novel unlike other happy endings where it is corny. This even made me soo emotional.

ChaCha bracelet made me emotional, man...

I want to kneel to Chaepali-nim's writing, compared to her early works, it just keeps on improving, getting better, then masterpieces.
Perennial species deserves to have a high quality animation, those fighting scenes and amounts of settings

beautiful galaxy and celestial bodies

Surprisingly, I was able to enjoy and understand the scenes and infos in mtl. I would def read this again in a better tl and hoping this would have a physical en book in the future.

One of the best BL novel I've ever read, and I'm not even joking. The worldview is MASSIVE and full of plot twists that will keep you immersed in the story. From the beginning to the end, there is no boring part at all. Not to mention, the dialogues are fun and the characters are charming. You can pretty much trust Chaepali-nim's skills in telling stories—it's otherworldly.

This is one of my favourite BL novels, so I highly recommend it! My rating is 5/5.

Beware, my review will contain spoilers!! I won't use spoiler bars unless it's a really major spoiler, so don't read if you don't want to get spoiled!!

Mansaengjong/Perennial Species/Late-born Species is set in an apocalyptic-like world with various mutants and gates. Here, awakened people who can use a power called 'cosmos' are known as 'Mansaengjong', and they are mostly responsible for hunting these mutants. One day, all Mansaengjong are transported to an unknown place called... more>> 'Naraka', and Cha Seowoon, the shou of this work, discovers that he has lost all his abilities and is no longer a top-ranking Mansaengjong. Fortunately, he gains a new ability known as 'Messenger', which lets him detect mutants in advance, and so he is able to survive in Naraka. Eventually he reunites with Cahaya, the gong of this work and another top-ranking Mansaengjong, who invites him back into the Fallen Angels guild which he was once the vice-guild leader of.

First, let's introduce our main characters: Cha Seowoon, our guild leader and elephant shrew; and Cahaya, the strongest alien and hair-chewing maniac!

Both of them are really amazing and likeable characters. Seowoon may appear weak at first, but he is definitely not weak! No matter what, he is the guild leader of Fallen Angels and is reliable and responsible (unlike a certain cringe alien =_=). He is a character who grows as the novel continues, so even if you might not like him at first, I hope you try and continue on! Cahaya, as befitting of ridi gongs, is cringe, crazy and clown (and OP!). He's obsessed with Seowoon even before realising his feelings, and does crazy stuff such as commissioning Seowoon's jacket to have his name plastered all over it... He's also very much a pe*vert (≖_≖)

Spoiler

His life on Aso in the SS after the reset was literally think about Seowoon > destroy some gates > beat up some people > think about Seowoon XD Seowoon was surprised when he said he didn't have any friends and everyone thought he was crazy

[collapse]

There are times when their actions may seem frustrating, which is to be expected since they both think it's 'unrequited love', but the outcome is worth it, so just bear with it for a bit ¬‿¬

Han Donhee is the MVP of this novel. I do not accept any objections. This tsundere has it hard with a certain crazy alien bastard bullying him whenever he gets jealous or has relationship problems.

There are many characters in this novel that you might not like at first, but will probably come to love (e.g. Um Jigun, Namgung Jun). While there are tr*shy and self-centred characters in here who do deserve to die, there are also many who are just trying to make the best of what they have and don't necessarily mean any harm. Unfortunately, not all of them live on :/

Spoiler

But don't worry, it's only temporary o͡͡͡╮ (。❛ᴗ❛。) ╭o͡͡͡ >

[collapse]

There are a number of twists in this novel, and it involves time and space shenanigans, so keep an eye out for hints. To conclude, I really really love this novel and highly recommend it. The only thing I wasn't completely satisfied with was the ending, but I'm still kinda glad it turned out that way, and the SS were really good and absolutely made up for it! <<less

The world of this novel is beautifully crafted and the characters remind me of people I know. It feels incredibly real. Normally, when you read fantasy novels and comics you spend a lot of your time suspending your disbelief and overlooking how shallow the characters and world is, but this novel is incredibly immersive. Even the fantasy elements are beautifully depicted.

One of the best things about it is there's nothing that feels like an exposition dump, you're just thrown into the world and learn as the story progresses without being... more>> left wondering what's happening. You slowly learn about the world as the MC interacts with it in a way that isn't overwhelming or boring.

The romance is also very slow and leaves you wanting more. It's very obvious both the ML and MC are in love but they both deny their feelings and insist they're straight. Normally I find this very frustrating, but it's pretty cute in this novel because their interactions feel so real and not forced.

I really want this to be turned into a manhwa but I want one of the shounen artists to draw it so the action and fantasy elements are drawn as beautifully as they're written. This would be a perfect young adult action fantasy novel that's more popular than most if it wasn't yaoi, but I'm very happy it's yaoi! <<less

31 chapters in, in-prog review.

This is so good. The writing is great, and what a fantastic world setup. We have the KR hunter/dungeon setup, but the author put such a good twist. The action is truly there, tyvm.

I've heard people say that this author is amazing, and I think I'm going to be obsessed.
