This is a slow burn romance, the story flow seamlessly, the leads characters compliment each other. This is a type of character, especially FL, that have affection from the author. She is blessed almost flawless environment, perfect family - even with divorced parents, perfect friends - even with 1 backstabbing friend in the beginning, perfect work, and love life.

The courtship from tsundere ML is adorable too. Usually tsundere character is shadowed with toxicity, but ML's character have none of that, especially when he treats FL as girlfriend and later, his... more>> wife, so well.

The ending not quite satisfactory, but maybe because the author already planned to close the story with extras. The last extra story is the perfect ending.

I was prepared to dislike the ML because of his earlier remarks but damn the guy was dreamy as the plot progressed lol. He's not especially kind but he's one who'd stand up for others. And when he cares for someone, he REALLY cares. What I did not expect though was his parents. I mean I should have seen it coming when

Anyway, the ML and MC's development feels so natural? Like, this is something you'de expect to happen irl (maybe except the they're rich part). Basing from some of the reviews, looks like the author is good so I might check out some more of their works (I just checked and looks like I've read a good amount of their works already hahahhaha).

And Song Chao. Well, Song Chao reminds me of a not-saying 'people look back on their past when they were at their best because they are miserable at present'. I think he only went after the MC because she's his first failure.

Translation-wise, I don't really want to be mean but the quality is really no different from reading straight up mtl. I don't mind getting assistance from mtl but at least edit it? I was expecting a decent translation so my brain couldn't adapt to the way it usually does when I read mtl. All those imperial capital and Song Dynasty is giving me brain hemorrhage. Song Chao is a name! You don't have to translate it to English! The reason the translator gave doesn't even make sense?

The site is also very challenging to navigate through. Not even halfway through, the buttons were gone. No problem, I'll just use the chapter list. Jokes on me there's none. Maybe through novelupdates? I still have to redirect. Well maybe through this new site, there's an existing chapter list? Surpise! There's none too! So I just moved to mtlnovel, com. The quality is no different anyway. At least I don't have to open hundreds of pages just to get to my target chapter.

It's a really nice slice of life story with bits of drama (not really). I like the chemistry between the main couple and the subtle sweetness in their interaction. Also love that their romance progressed from friends to lovers. I'd say it's a realistic romance. Not everyone has dramatic twists and turns in their lives and whirlwind romance. So I love the realistic take on relationships. Especially for the ml's family.

Amazing story! This author has done it once again! Before this story I had always thought this author’s modern stories weren’t as engaging as her historical ones but this particular story was very good!

I think what made this story especially good is the fact that the MC has her own career and life outside the ML. The fact that she’s a reporter made for a lot of interesting events and I loved that she’s lauded as a senior killer cause elderly people adore her lol. Overall, she’s a well-rounded character... more>> who’s very likeable. Furthermore, her relationship with her dad is super cute. This author really has a way of writing about heartwarming family dynamics. The interactions between friends was also good. And of course, who could hate our adorkably serious and tsundere ML?

In general, I liked that the story was sweet and didn’t have too many crazy ups and downs because you can only handle so much dog blood right? <<less

It was nice and enjoyable, just what we could expect from Yue Xia Die Ying.

FL seems to have "weak woman" profile, but actually able to chase criminal and break doors. Meanwhile, ML seems fierce with poisonous mouth but actually is marshmallow-hearted teddy bear.

The novel plays up the contrast, while adding bits and pieces from both lead's bittersweet past. It is rather lacking in dramatic twists, but well, this is how life is.

I laugh so hard when everytime they bicker or stand together, passerby can't help to think of some melodrama tv series about love hate and sadomasochistic relationship. Even their family and friends can't help but imagine that scenario when they see them standing side by side 😂😂😂

they are nothing like that. This is a sweet comedy novel, with bickering couple and slice of life

I also love MC father and mother's relationship. It make me realize some important thing
here's the quote

"After the two divorced, they didn't look for another partner. They met several times a year, but they no longer lived together.

The only thing that I feel dissatisfied with, is the mother and father of the male lead. The mother is a woman with princess disease. Someone who grown up in the green house. Learn to accept other people care and love and kindess, but never try to learn how to be kind and love others. And the father is someone who spoil his wife like a brain dead person from domineering ceo novel. Even the grandfather can see through their disgusting personality. The male lead past is pitiful, and I am so glad that he has his brother who always been there for him and took the role of father for him. Dear male lead, if you need elder sister in law, I am willing 🙋‍♀

And the 2nd male lead has more complex personality than I expected it. He looks like a gentle and kind men, but he is actually a vindictive, scheming and ruthless men. Later, I feel like, he is better than scum, but he can't be a kind and good men. If he is kind, he won't survive. And deep down, once upon a time, he also want someone to stand up for him and be there for him. But in the end, I think he doesn't really love MC. He just think that MC was interesting, and he was also feel insulted about their past (him sending a love letter to MC, and MC didn't show up). I really want to see him fall in love with someone in extra chapter, or meeting an important person, regardless of gender. I think he deserve to be happy too

The base story is excellent material, but the translation is a tech-assisted, half-baked product, and the ads are very intrusive. Chapter 19 was not accessible at all because it auto-routed to a shopping page -- the revenue must be rolling in. If it weren't for these factors, this title would have been five stars on NU; instead I'm afraid it is worth at most three.

I'm looking forward to changing the rating when some other translator comes to redo it -- preferably someone who actually understands the original language. This translator... more>> says she'd like readers to correct her mistakes, but her mistakes are far too numerous, and I don't appreciate her inviting netizens to work for free when what she's asking is worth at least $40 an hour. Adorable adorable adorable. It’s a really cute pairing between a mega ultra lord tsundere ML and a FL who looks super easy to bully but is actually pretty tough.

ML is my favorite hereeeee. Basically a very successful kind hearted cold guy who has never dated any girl before, has a super ‘straight man’ mentality and looks down on his friend for helping his girlfriend carry her bags. He bickers a lot with the FL because of how awful his words are when they first meet but actually treats her pretty... more>> well. There really is some tween-age flavor to the romance since he’s so innocent and adorable about his feelings for FL. He’s abit like a Labrador retriever after he falls for the FL and they get together.

I think my favorite bits are when he’s slapped in the face by his own words because he starts to do all the things he made fun of when he dates FL. His friends call him out on it like crazy but he’s just like so what. His internal monologues when he treats FL well or gives in to her are also pretty entertaining.

I think one interesting thing in the book was the relationship between the ML and his parents. It’s kind of complicated and at first, I was kind of like why’s there no resolution to it. Don’t they deserve more of a face slap for their behavior? But I guess at the end of the day, their distanced relationship with both of their sons was the resolution. There’s no need to harp on the past but there’s also no need to be particularly close.

I really love this author’s books. Her romances are one of equals where the female is always always given respect and ownership in the relationship (it’s also the same in the author’s BLs). I think that’s something I really appreciate and it definitely carries through in this book as well. Read it and enjoy the adorable sugary journey 😁 <<less

It was a nice, fun story. I liked both the FL and ML. I just wish the situation with the ML’s parents was dealt with a bit better. I feel like it was left hanging...

Just like many commenters have stated, the translation left a lot to be desired. I almost dropped it because of the translation — not just the quality and accuracy, but also the style. The translator placed her T/N or explanations immediately after the word/phrase/idiom/slang. Those sidebars messed the reading flow. I wish she placed those... more>> at the end of the text or hid them or linked them instead. <<less

This is a very nice love story with a high EQ female lead, it feels pleasant how she can read the room and knows when to stand up for herself. She's not a damsel in distress for sure. The ML is the awkward type guy who isn't good at speaking, which could often make people misunderstand him, his mean looking face also doesn't help, but since the FL have high EQ, she could understand him pretty well most of the time, so there isn't much dumb misunderstanding due to lack... more>> of communication and unnecessary drama.

The ML's parents are not very likable.

They love each other very much, that was very admirable but they often neglect their children, especially the ML since they didn't plan to have him, and also because ML's mother almost died giving birth to him, I find it ridiculous and unfair how he was treated, he didn't ask to be born, it's the parents fault for not using protection, but they shifted the blame on him.

I feel like ML's parents are like ML and FL from another novel with overbearing president and white lotus FL, there are those type of ML that love the FL so much that they even get jealous of their own kids, usually readers would find that it's cute, but this novel shows the reality of it, the children gets neglected while the parents being lovey-dovey with each other. Although the mother did realize her mistakes and wanted to fix it but the damage had already been done, not everyone gets a happy ending.

There are some other characters that make me dislike them, like a typical two faced 2nd ML, or a rich young master who gang r*ped an artist with his friends which caused her to commit su*cide, left a bad taste in my mouth but it was only mentioned briefly, so don't worry about it.

Cute romance, although it is quite slow.

ML and MC realise their feelings around the same time, but both are quite slow with confessing as they are either scared or don't want to ruin the friendship.

Once they get together it becomes very boring. I got to ch.44 and checked how many chapters were left, and realised I wasn't even halfway. I was not able to finish this novel as it got quite boring in the end. There was some family drama (MLs neglectful parents) and a case of an unwanted suitor/stalker... more>> for MC, but besides that there is nothing exciting. Their relationship is cute and uncomplicated but quite bland. I like that MC has a legitimate job and enjoys what she does. <<less

really enjoyed this!

ill admit if I was in a worse mood I would have dropped the novel at the start cuz of the ML's annoying words at first... though I knew there was a bickering couple tag. I'm glad I stayed and finished this off.

it's a very easy-going read. nothing too memorable or emotional but fun and decent read.

... more>> i love how ML's parents were portrayed as the ideal couple in love (honestly very touching) but clearly, not everyone is made to be a good parent.

the novel has its plot holes like who the ML's brothers gf is (vaguely suspect that other senior reporter sheng but idk)

I wish there were more warm moments with MC. ML and their child just to see how the man is as a father and how his new family heals his scars. <<less

This author masterfully detailed the silly bickering and cringe of "attraction" when building a relationship. People who are in a relationship, have been in one or have witnessed a relationship develop would find this novel relatable. If this novel was a story, people would keep watching this show not for the plot but for the script. It's an enjoyable MTL read. 😁

This is the type of slice of life that I enjoy. Slow burn romances born out of friendship. Realistic family issues that are not drawn out. Not a lot of miscommunications.

Really love how healthy the relationship progression was and glad that this is the first novel I read for 2022. Manifesting ML and FL’s relationship for myself 🤞🏻

Chill out type protagonist. I love her life. The most realistic life to be live on in this modern era. I mean, if you do have a doting parent- the wealthy one and good visual.

hehehe sound a lot, but I think if you do have a doting parent with at least middle up economy, for me- I will adapting with her type of life immediately.

This author never disappoints. No matter how much I write about this novel, it wouldn't be enough.

Yan Xi was great. And Yuan Yi is my new book boyfriend.

There were so many heartwarming moments and complex relationships.

... more>> Yan Xi and her father Song Hai's relationship is a great change from typical selfish fathers or the typical overbearing overprotective parent. It was so sweet!

I felt bad for the male lead Yuan Yi and his brother Yuan Bo. Their parents really had the gall to control them. Thank God, cute Grandpa Xu was there. These pair of brothers are basically the kids of those ML and FL's from the cliché Chinese web novels where the male lead is jealous of his own son for taking away his wife's attention.

Even the antagonist Song Chao has my sympathy card.

There is barely any face-slapping dogblooded incidents. The dynamic between the leads was delightful. And finally, our President Yuan has a family of his own. The last extra just took the cake. It made me feel like an old mother finally seeing her son live happily ever after😭😭😭

This Slice of Life is the type of novel that I would've rated more than 5 ⭐ if only I could. Definitely worth it!

And it's true, one really can't judge by appearance🤣🤣🤣

I'm not a big fan of tsunderes but ML is very sweet so it made him bearable. I found the story more interesting than I anticipated. Second ML is insane but pitiful, which was different to this sort of sweet slice of life story. I dunno. It kept my attention til the end which was nice

A light-hearted story with aspects of romance, comedy and slight drama.

I especially like the bickering between the two main leads and how they fall in love with one another. The ML not knowing the emotion of love and realizing he's actually in love with the FL is so cute.

Highly recommend this as a quick light read.

My only gripe is that the summary for the novel does not relate to the story at all.
