After being transmigrated into a notorious s*um character, Tang Li braced herself to meet her fiancee to avoid her miserable ending.

Life after marriage was dull until, one day, the takeaway boy was stopped by the butler at the door. Tang Li got so angry that she “ran away from home” to the fried chicken shop, only to come back and find the world turned upside down—

Expensive red wine was shattered on the floor, a dozen screens were monitoring different areas of the house. Chu Chisi’s eyes were red, her voice hoarse, “Why did you leave?”

Tang Li was stunned: “What?”

Chu Chisi staggered towards her, taking her fingertips, her eyes swirling with gloomy madness, her voice trembling.

“… Please.” She said: “Don’t leave.”

This has undoubtedly changed my novel ranking and worked its way into my top 3!

Heck maybe even top 1

Tldr: MC is strong, witty, smart, cunning and charming; FL is cold (but with reason- so if you dont like that trope, MC doesnt care and still acts like a puppy) focuses more on the interactions and personality of the characters but is still very fluffy- great read! TANG-LI BEST GIRL

    • The plot is complex, and refreshing (at least for me, I read so many novels that I could more or less expect all the fluffy scenes/plot twists that could happen) even though this was a transmigration novel, I went into this thinking it would just be another cliche but boy was I wrong- try to read it!
    • The characters are also so refreshing, I love it when the FL isnt the typical arrogant, overbearing CEO (in this novel she's cold with reason so if you don't like that trope you might not like this as much but shes still the CEO she just doesnt make it her whole personality) but the MC is so refreshing since we don't get many novels that have the MC as patient, witty, charming, equally/or more beautiful than the FL. Plus, reading the story you'd understand that compared to other MC's she's by far the best in terms of personality, plot, and over all love for her wife- literal golden retriever energy (she's the embodiment of *gets mad* WHO DID THIS TO YOU- energy)
    • I don't wanna spoil too much because I went into this not knowing the story- but its really great! It's been a long time since I enjoyed reading/finding a novel like this.

Goodness gracious, I don't know where to start. I did not expect to encounter this plot and setting, and this author's work is absolutely amazing. It's written very well.

  • Characterization - the background of the characters are well built despite the fact that only the main characters actually have clear descriptions in terms of appearance, as well as the main antagonists that are described in better detail later in the story. It's pretty interesting how the characters come together to make the world feel whole despite how little description there actually is about the world they live in.
  • Setting - Really interesting in terms of the introduction of the "world" as well as the "unraveling" of the "world". I really did not expect the contents of this novel. The premise from the novel description is so distant from expectation, in a good way!
  • Plot - Good plot, well thought out and pacing is also appropriate. It starts as a psychological mystery with action thriller in the middle. The way the ending progressed could still be improved. I found it satisfying but can still get better. I'm very hopeful with the author's ability and skill.
Good job author-san, also good job to the translator. I did MTL from Ch7 onwards because the translator had only gone as far as Ch6. The extras at the end... more>> are too look forward to. Giving a full star review because of the plot and setting. As a bibliophile, this really aroused my interest. I initially thought I'd just be passing the time with a new novel but I was really engrossed in the novel she's too the very interesting direction (s) it went, especially setting-wise. <<less

THIS! JUST! AMAZING!!!

I have read many novels from Chinese authors and I can confidently say that this is one of the best.

The slow unraveling of the plot has a positive effect on the reading experience. And damn, I love the main couple so much. They have amazing dynamics, just wild chemistry!! Golden (f*cking crazy) retriever x black (little crazy) cat.

In addition to everything, I would like to highlight the topic of science! I myself am interested in this kind of thing, and its quantity and importance makes me squeal with... more>> joy.

I did not at all expect a carefully thought-out plot from such a seemingly inconspicuous novel. Don't be fooled by the description, it's not the whole truth!! Run to read, sweeties! <<less

I am still currently on chapter 43 but I can confidently say that this chapter just propelled this story to be one of my absolute, utter favourites.

That is not to say it hasn't been building up to it, because it really has. It's just this chapter that truly cemented how amazing this story is, and I know it will only get better from there.

I went into this story with interest because of the description, thinking it would be a good casual read. I was wrong. This story cannot be given... more>> justice by the description at all and I don't know how to deliver it with my own words, but I will try:

First and foremost, the characters in this story are both amazingly compelling and complex. Chu Chisi with more obvious reasons and even more depth as you go down the line in reading this story, but to my surprise, Tang Li, our main protagonist, as well. Considering the rather tame beginning, it was a genuine surprise to me to discover how much there is to uncover about our main protagonist. I had expected Chu Chisi to have something more, and yes it did deliver by the way, but as someone who went into this thinking it would be a casual read, I didn't think there would be more for Tang Li. That is to say, the characters are well thought out by the author, and you would soon find yourself invested in their story!

The plot meanwhile is something completely fresh and new to me. Yes, it's a transmigration story, yes there's plenty of transmigration stories, but THIS is different. You will find out soon enough. I will not be revealing much because it's really better if you go into this blind just like I did. Just know, the plot is something to definitely look forward to and it's the kind I've never encountered elsewhere. At least, not the way it was presented here. I can think of some other stories that may be similar in concept but ultimately, it differed in execution.

As for the story itself, (note: wrote this review on chap 43) it is an amazing balance between comedy and light-heartedness, and thriller and mystery. I've always noticed how well the story was written that even if some chapters may appear somewhat "moody" in bird's eye view, it does not disrupt the flow at all. It feels natural. One moment you could be laughing, and the next serious and invested because there's something new to the plot, and it does not feel icky at all. The tone shifts happen as if it were meant to and it really adds to the reading experience, because yes, though this might be light-hearted on many occasions, it does not take away the heaviness of what's at stake. It will remind you throughout the story.

Over-all, a solid 5/5 for me.

This is my first time writing a review and it is because I do love this story so much and I hope you give it a try. You won't regret it. <<less

I didn't expect this story to be so deep. From the title and description, you'd think it's light-hearted and not particularly profound—especially with lines like #a tragedy triggered by fried chicken#, #what to do if you find out something is wrong with your wife after getting married#, and #is it too late to get divorced now#. While there is a lot of humour and lightheartedness, that's not all there is to it. What I find particularly intriguing is how the story can flip from funny to serious in an instant... more>> without breaking the flow.

As I was reading, it felt like solving a puzzle piece by piece. When the twist was finally revealed, my mind was blown—seriously, my jaw was left hanging for so long. The author does an excellent job of using clichés and humour to completely blindside you. I'm eagerly looking forward to more reveals, as I still don't have the whole picture yet.

Now, moving on to the characters (without spoiling anything) : they're complex and compelling, feeling like real human beings with their thoughts and motivations. You can't take their actions at face value, or you'll end up as blindsided as I was.

I enjoy the MC and FL's dynamic—it's like watching a battle of wits when things get serious, but then it becomes unexpectedly funny because of the MC's shameless boldness. One moment, she could be in a life-and-death situation, and the very next, she's acting in a completely unexpected way, with no hint of caution. It's the sharp contrast that makes it so funny. Meanwhile, the FL can be dangerously cold in one scene and then sweet in a terrifying way in the next.

Lastly, I have to mention the author's writing. The way they describe events—whether metaphorical or literal—is phenomenal. It completely immersed me in the story.

5/5—I highly recommend giving this a read!
