“The Northern Duchess.”

A ruler who dominates the frigid land with an iron fist. A ruthless slaughterer who spares no one, whether they be demons or humans.

There’s something peculiar about the way she looks at me.

The first 70 chapters were pretty enjoyable. However, as of chapter 77 the author decided to turn it into a R-18+ mind break novel? I don't know why the author decided to throw away the wholesome fluff just like that. Spoilers ahead, though you might want to take a look to know what you're in for:

Adrielle's father the duke, gives Adrielle a bunch of bd*m books her mother wrote. They then proceed to gaslight Alice into thinking that a 12 year old knowing intimate bd*m material and practicing it on her is okay. As of chapter 77, Alice decides to let Adrielle put a dog collar on her and then grope her in bed in the following chapter. Also keep in mind that Alice was a 20+ year old man that genderbent into the teenage Alice.

I personally don't think I can proceed at this point, I don't know why the author decided to go down this route but its fairly disturbing, especially with it involving a minor. I totally recommend the book for the first 70 or so chapters, it was a great read, just get prepared for it to get really weird later. <<less

It starts as wholesome childcare where the MC is gently taking care of the clearly ab*sed child. Then at some point it turns utterly weird and actually crosses some plain bad lines.

Literal child r*pe (even if its between 2 females) when the FL is only 14 years old.

The FL is hyper dependent on the MC in a romantic way despite her young age (8 years at the time).

... more>> The entire story goes in a very weird direction involving BS*M, pet play etc.

I'm usually "ok, some people like this, good on them." but a fricking kid? NOPE. There's so many levels of wrong with this novel so I noped out and I advise others to do so aswell. <<less

Update : Ch. 108 Hell nah, I'm done reading this

Edit : Ch.80 This isn't a wholesome childcare novel anymore, so don't expect it. Currently it's almost an R-18 mind-break novel, also 6 years age gap, and a s*xual relationship with a minor 💀

Love is the strongest emotion

Alright, before we dive into my review, let's quickly go over the summary without any major spoilers.

The story starts off pretty cliché: our protagonist works at a café, dreams big, and loves reading web novels. He thinks one novel is garbage and comments on it, but doesn't actually send it. Somehow, the author sees it, gets angry, and bam, he gets transported to that world. And oh, he gets gender-bent and becomes a maid. Knowing it'll get dangerous, she (formerly he) snags some items that won't affect the protagonist's mission to save the world. She gets strong enough to be a mid-boss, insults a duke by accident, and ends up as the personal maid to the young duchess. They bond and trust each other—a really cute relationship.

Now, onto the review. Not much has happened yet, but we see our female lead interacting with people around her, and the story is heartwarming enough to give you diabetes. The interactions between Alice and Adrielle are adorable, with Alice acting like a mother figure. But, Alice is oblivious to the fact that Adrielle is becoming overly dependent and showing yandere tendencies. Despite their six-year age gap and Adrielle being young, she's got some very very ecchi thoughts about Alice. Adrielle's thirstier than a camel in the desert, and Alice, dense as a rock, doesn't notice because she thinks Adrielle is just a pure child.

Alice is strong, but Adrielle is a combat genius. From the way the story's going, Alice is definitely headed towards trouble, raising so many red flags. The world-building is mostly centered around the mansion due to Alice's maid duties, but we get glimpses of the outside world. The story itself is solid and enjoyable with great character interactions. While there might be some action scenes, the main focus is on childcare.

Long story short, it's got amusing characters, a good story, and decent world-building. It's light and not too serious. Plus, we might see some time skips in the future. Will definitely read more chapters in the future.

PS. I know it's good and all, and I actually enjoyed it but why does it feels like I'm reading the early chapters of an adult novel? Anyways for some reason Adrielle is really le*d and h**ny, bro she's only 9 or 12, she is already planning some messed up stuff, especially anything related to Alice, holy god... I really hope it stays as a childcare...

[collapse]

Also here's the list of the major characters so far, I might've forgot some but I'll still write it here anyways :

Spoiler

•Alice - Maid, Dense as a Rock, Quite Strong, possibly one of the Strongest. Good at brewing Tea, Has high Dexterity, Quite Dumb sometimes

•Adrielle - Grand Duchess, Showing signs of Yandere, Possessive, Incredibly High Talent for Combat

•Arvian - Duke, Typical Villainess' Father, Currently in a Redemption Arc

•Lucy - Original Protagonist, Saint, Kinda Sus (this is just on me, she's sus because one of her dialogues just screams SUSPICIOUS, idk)

•Chloe - Elf, Star Seer (or something), A bit eccentric, Fortune Teller, GL enjoyer, maybe?

It's similar to "The villainous daughter's butler" where the MC raises the child with love and care and makes the 'villainous girl' fall in love but this novel is more emotional and more caring, we see a lot more parts of the 'love and care' compared to the novel 'The villainous daughter's butler'

I don't know why the author thought the our MC should be gender bended into a woman but nevertheless, its a good read.

This novel is "We should kidnap the author and translator and force them to create more... more>> chapters." Level good.

Overall, This is a solid 4.5/5 or even a 5/5 for people who enjoy such stories. Highly Recommend! <<less

It started as a cute and wholesome story about taking care of an ab*sed child. Why the f*ck did the child start to brainwash her mother figure (mc) into a m*sochist. This repulsed me so much. I got too uncomfortable with ts lmao.

I just hate how they’re all disregarding MC's feelings and trying to make her jump into this bd*m sh*t too fast.

They are literally brainwashing MC and it makes me sick, but it’s really a shame because I was really enjoying this story.

I’m out.

The story went from a cute maid raising her duchess (with the occasionally needed action and fighting scenes of course) to unconsented 18+ mind break with a minor involved. I do not mind the R-18 tag or the BD*M tag but what bothered me is that there's no tag for the nonconsensual s*xual act. As well as the fact that the maid is now literally a s*ave, having no control over her bodily anatomy due to the necklace on the duchess.

[collapse]

I really did enjoy the character setting and theme the author has going: transmigration into a novel, maid and her duchess yuri, the maid's mysterious background, training arc, plot around the "real" heroine of the novel but small but MULTIPLE loopholes in the story that built up over time (chapter 105-106 was the worst point) ruined the novel for me.

Personally, the novel became unreadable for me, but if people can accept this type of plot conflict (mentioned in the spoilers) then go for it, it is still a good read if you have nothing else to read. I just wished the author could've refined the story more and developed the relationship between the MC and FL in a healthy direction. It would've been more readable as a no-brain shitty-plot smut novel.

Spoiler

Poor Senior Lani, the only sane character who died without contributing anything meaningful to the plot. Only a few drops of tears contribute to the MC and FL's relationship as cannon fodder.

Yes this is now has smut but it is very brief and like 1 paragraph and there is still no actual touching in the improper way

I guess you can technically call is smut? But well it's not really

First of all, for the people complaining for r-18 stuff, read the damned tags before leaving a bad review, like jeez that's literally artificially lowering the rating.

Now, it starts of really fluffy with actually heart warming moments and has its share of heart wrenching moments too... nothing too bad but it really does give the novel depth

The protagonist is actually likeable and not having a dense block of lead as the protagonist is quite refreshing.

Somehow the Yuri" r-18" elements started before actually having feelings for each other as

The story just begun so I cant say much but the plot is interesting (totally not biased). MC is a smart person, s (he) understands the situation very fast and can think ahead. All in all its very interesting though the wait for each chapter is agonizing (even though its only 1 day)

None of those authors books are worth it, I tried, I legit gave them a chance to get better, but nope, every single one of their stories is a mockery of love. For them love means pure lust gained from repeatedly almost killing your "loved" one. They are a sick and twisted author that should be locked up in a mental hospital

Enjoyable! Gotta love the villainess troupe. Typical scenario, villainess is mistreated during her childhood then grows up to be the strongest main villainess, MC transmigrate when villainess is still young and takes care of her as her only personal maid.

Also, misunderstood father troupe, tho he’s still a jackass. I get you want villainess to grow up strong but sending your soldiers after her at night and letting her starve is not it man!

With MC by her side now, she’s no longer has malnutrition and is growing more confident.

Recommended! Villainess is... more>> still 9-10 years old so no romance for a long time unless there’s a time skip. <<less

Novel starts out fluffy, you could tell Adrielle, the Duchess, was a Yandere and really attached to Alice but there was a good respect and balance... For awhile. Around c70 it starts getting more BD*M heavy and more s*ave and freedom deprivation focused. Now, I have a lot of kinks and honestly this wouldn't scare me off but this author has found a way to trap themselves between R-18 and R-15 going both too far and not far enough. To be a Smut novel with no completion. The Duchess being... more>> a minor might have something to do with that, to barely be legal (?) But that also makes it more iffy if you want to read it <<less

If I could, I would give it 4.5.

The story is about someone displeased by the ending of his favourite novel. He writes a mean spirited comment but never ends up sending it. Unfortunately, the author seems to be some deity who then sends him into the story in order to change the ending.

Mild synopsis, not heavy spoiler.

The first 50 chapters are very sweet and involve mostly the MC breaking the Duchess out of her shell. This part is extremely enjoyable to read.

Around 50-70 is when she starts to really show her yandere tendencies. Still quite enjoyable to read.

Around chapter 110 it gets hard to read as there is some questionable content around lack of consent. For a brief period the MC even loses the ability to control her own body as the Duchess controls her. This is difficult to read.

Around 130 is when the Duchess meets the Lucy the original protagonist of the story and realises that what she has been doing to the MC is wrong. This causes some shenanigans and the story becomes very enjoyable to read again.

In general a this story is very nice and the first 70 chapters are quite fluffy. However, it does involve the MC getting essentially gaslit into trying BD*M and then getting addicted to it in the later chapters. Just that after the MC meets

*Sorry for my english, it is my third langage. ** I didn't put on the chapter because I forgot where I was before I abandoned it : <C100-120

I will begin this by saying that you will most probably like this and the other books from this author (I tried some of them before finding out that its the same thing) if a very well written mental break love story seems like something you will enjoy.

Anyway, for me, I'm done with this story. I can see the point of the story... more>> and it isn't something that interested me. I believe that a story shouldn't be given a bad review for something that it is obviously going to be. And what is here is without doubt from me very well written. It is just not for me. Sadly I dont know how to change my review from the 1 star I put when I began to write this to a 3 stars I now believe it deserve after some reflection.

------

The story had so much potential to be something great for me. Yes, even the romance with a mother figure that might have turned off some early readers. It started out as a sweet, wholesome tale about caring for and healing an ab*sed child. But then the child started manipulating the main character, pushing her into uncomfortable territory with themes of masochism, which felt really unsettling. The author pushes the idea that lust is more important than love, or at least that a relationship should start with it. I heavily struggled through the semi-r*pe mind break brainwashing segment with the child.

After that part, I was beginning to be actually excited when the child had a character development where she realized that love is the basis of a relationship, before it cuts back to the main character who has become a masochist due to the mind break and suddenly falls in love (becomes h*rny and ar*used) with the Duchess. Every character tries to push the girl into becoming a masochist, from the girl's father to a "friend" to a prepubescent (semi-daughter). They all try to brainwash her, like literary, and it's horribly disturbing to watch. I kept reading this far partly out of morbid curiosity and partly because I was hoping there was something more to it, that it couldn't just be THIS.

I never got past this part (the maid realizing she's a masochist and needs the duchess after the mind break that REWROTE her from a sad*st to a masochist).

I really wished the novel had stayed on its original path, because I really liked the book up until that point. Or that at least the romance was written with more maturity and less fetishism.

I understand that the author is trying to write a story about power imbalance between a incredibly d*mb maid and a almost godly child who doesn't understand a lot of thing about life, but this isn't it.

I think the part where the weirdness (fetishism), really gets going is when the father gives his daughter the BD*M book his wife wrote for HIM, when he was an ADULT. Like the author knows that its f*ck*ed up, the maid tries to explain it, but sadly she is too d*mb to actually make an argument. So she decides (is brainwashed by everyone around her) to try it before judging it. The worst part is that the father himself said that the book was too much for him and that he never used it on his wife.

It is at the very least very well written and the beginning of the novel was incredibly wholesome. <<less

One could argue there is some setup in the way of building trust between MC and duke but there is absolutely no romantic inclination except basic respect.

I predicted most if not all of the story, the side characters are extremely forgettable to the point there was a bully character that I had to be like, Who is this again?, This character was also wasted completely some very simple character development of the duke. Unironically the most non-generic character is the duke, which is still very generic strong rich man with showing no feelings.

I am just disappointed because it could of been a lot better than what it was to be honest if some care was taken to do so and make consistencies. For example some small ones are Make the MC instead of having worked at a cafe he worked at a specialist tea place in a city, MC while he likes money show him valuing relationships more because this causes a issue with character consistency later when

Best story I've read in a while. Love the cute fluffy moments in this story. Also, the story changed into a wired R-18 from chapter 70 and above but it's all good considering I still enjoy it. I even forgot our MC was a reincarnated male in a female body sometimes lol. Well as far as Yuri novels go, this one is not bad.
