My childhood friend and neighbor, Alice, is a girl who behaves elegantly and gracefully in public… But for some reason, she’s particularly harsh towards me. She always says, “You don’t have a girlfriend, right?”—and it’s frustrating to be constantly reminded of that. So, in order to change the situation, I got myself a girlfriend

It's better not to read this.

Basically, everything wrong with a Beta MC is summarized into one chapter. Though I also agree it's partially the Heroine's fault.

Looking back you'd think this was made by AI because One-Shots are rarely this quality, but you know how to these JP Writers are.

If you're an experienced reader, you've seen this plot so many times...

It's short but it hits all the points it needed to especially as a one shot.

I thought it'd be a bit romcom but it's suprisingly not. It delivered on the angst it needed to in just one chaoter without making it unbearable to read.

It's about wrong choices made with good intentions. If there's one thing that it suffers from then it's like what most JP novels suffers from, a self-insertable main character, we only understand that MC is a guy who's 'popular' but doesn't get confessed to, likes calm and... more>> composed girls.. And that's it.

The author spent half of the one shot explaining how pretty Alice is

Which again is just a JP novel syndrome. But everything else was great, could be better but it's a oneshot so I didn't expect much from it. <<less
