After graduating from university, Shangnan was pulled into a system called “Monster Rescue”. Every world had such a monster: They hid in the crowd, maybe as students, maybe as actors. All of them were beautiful, and they all had miserable and lonely childhoods.

That’s why they hated humans. They could go berserk at any time, causing chaos and destruction in the world where they inhabited.

Shangnan’s mission was to make these monsters feel the love and beauty of humans.

In the first world, Shangnan’s beautiful mother was desperately inserting needles into the paper effigy she held in her hands.

“Be hit and killed as soon as you step out!”

“You deserve to die like your mother!”

“Stealing what’s mine, damn you!”

With each curse, the beautiful mother stuck a needle into the paper effigy.

The paper effigy in his mother’s hand, however, kept smiling with the corners of its mouth raised, a gentle and calm smile.

The system prompted that the target of the mission was outside the door. Shannan went downstairs to open the door——

Standing at the door was a thin and slender young man, smiling at Shangnan. Shangnan was stunned because the person looked exactly like the paper effigy in his mother’s hand.

Shangnan’s redemption mission encountered a problem because the monsters did not seem to need much rescue. Instead, they began to send signals of courtship to Shangnan:

1. The paper effigy used its own body to cut out a string of little hearts and gave them to Shangnan.

2. While Shangnan was asleep, the nightmare wove a romantic dreamland for him.

3. The octopus stretched out its tent**les to encircle Shangnan’s ankle.

Shangnan: “?”

System: Oh, oh, it’s courting

Compared to salvation, this is more like a gentle and compassionate taming.

1. Able to act and pretend to be a drama queen, beauty Shou × charming and crazy in love, monster Gong

2. All worlds and plots are fictional by the author. They are non-human beings. Some behaviours are different from human behaviours. Respect biological diversity. Thank you to all.

I just finished reading it when I saw it getting picked up! My opinion of this novel is as following:

I really enjoyed the different monsters ML! There's quite a variety, such as, Nightmare, Malice, Skeleton, Octopus, Wolfdog, android, black dragon, butterfly, etc etc. I enjoyed the romance, even though MC was quite passive and frankly speaking, didn't do anything most of the time. But, I kept reading for the interesting monsters!

However, there's a catch, that made ma drop a star.

Spoiler

First 10 arcs are fine and I wish author stopped at this, but no! Author proceed to create arcs where ML suffered needlessly because of MCs s*upidity and following orders. He is a transmigrated person, meaning he DID NOT HAVE TO follow the rules of the world and yet he did. He could have bet on ML, but he didn't. He could have saved him like he was supposed to, but it was always ML saving MC! So what if he's a regular person? He has POINTS! He has a system! I cannot believe he let ML go through so much pain agreeably

[collapse]

So, in my opinion ML deserved better. MC is not equal with him at all, which wouldn't be an issue if he had the heart to help ML, but I did not feel his love at all. It's fine to read this novel, but cannot like MC with the things he'd done. <<less

There're 2 reasons why I rated it as 4 instead of 5.

First of all, I loved MC and I was in not so strong love with the ML (without extras). Cause author did quite good job: monsters are monsters. (At least, at the start of every arc.) So, it's hard to sympathise real monsters. And I really feel sympathy to all by MC... he'd be too ideal if he hasn't fear. He has but... well, MC isn't realistic though he's really nice character to my mind. And here we have... more>> just paranoid ML.

Problem 1. Inequality of MC and ML.

Spoiler

You can't say all MLs is one person... and that is problem. Like you can feel his story in every world. Closer to the end you can feel his story in real world but you CAN'T feel connection between MLs though your mind KNOWS it's one person. Nothing except love and paranoia. (And it can be in any person.)

The second part of this problem is MC. He has no memory in every world so it should be just blank paper. But we can notice unexplained changes which have no connections with his memory... like the attitude to the ML is really changing from world to world while it has no reason for it. Though it's not so noticeable. It's closer to feeling.

[collapse]

Problem 2. Unwritten parts of plots.

Spoiler

The beginning is very good and has good pace. Author really thinks about the problem of different life expectancy, moral etc. In 2 arcs we see the end of MLs life. In the 3d arc we just can think that the both are almost people so the end is close... but nothing in other arcs (except 2: one somewhere in the middle and last arc). Yes, author wrote about difference but it's just 'oh, yes, it's problem'. Maybe lovely HE is good end but it's too many questions in the novel, especially when we already had real examples of absolutely not trivial end of monster... The first unwritten part.

As I mentioned already, MC has no memory. No real memory and no memory about previous worlds. You shouldn't wait that at one moment something will go wrong and he'll remember previous world. No. He'll never remember previous worlds. (Only some accidental spoilers by system but they are toooooo weak.) But he's remembering real world... and here it's another unwritten part.

Firstly, recovery of memory is too nonlinear. At some points it looks closer to a piano in the bushes or a plot crutch. Btw to the end of all arcs MC don't have all memories... nevermind, it's okay but if memory has some weight but no! I think it's crutch cause the impact of memory is not stable.

I can't see any changes in the MC with some memory and without it. MC has some changes but they look more due a lot of worlds (though he can't have such changes without memory of worlds -_-).

And the real world memory has some impact only in moment of appearance. It can be logical, yes. But if it has any other uses except tears at the moment of appearance. (Yes, sometimes it fits very well and you can cry too.)

Okay, here I can't without example:

MC had sister. She died earlier and he saw how it happened. After this we had an arc where MC had sister, remembered some information about sister, lost her again, remembered some more information and that's all. Like it's not the only one arc with sister. He would have another one later but MC didn't become closer to sister or at least just compare/think 'oh, she doesn't look like my real sister'.

[collapse]

To the end I still think MC is nice character but I'm in love with real ML... but only real. And we know his story only in extras -_- Author ended at lovely HE that MC returned... and that's all.

A lot of unresolved problems and unwritten parts became extras. And they are well-written and well developed. But I believe extras should be extra stories and you have to have chance to not read it. And here you won't have full vision of story without them.

So, all in all, the novel is good reading though slightly stretched.

And you MUST read it if you like world building or/and interesting in designs of non-human characters.

I see only teo plot holes in extras but will keep it in secret. <<less
