Kondou Seiichirou, 29, was tired.

Living the life of a corporate s*ave, he didn’t know day from night.

Unable to break the status quo, his days of nothing but work continued till one day his life completely changed when he got dragged into a saint summoning and came to another world…Not!

Seiichirou, who had the spirit of a corporate s*ave ingrained in him, decided to work even in the other world, at the Royal Accounting Section.

However, this section only existed to seal approval on the unreasonable expenses of high-ranking people, and was also known as the “Rubber Stamp Department”.

The budget requests of “Third Knight Order”, where the ones with strong magical power gathered, were particularly outrageous!

Seiichirou, who had been an assistant to the section manager in the accounting section of an IT company, would never let that happen, and embarked on a mission to revamp the finances of the royal palace.

So far, this is a gem of a story - that the MC is an adult (rather than a teen) who crosses over into a magical world, and actually acts like someone who's 30yo is just so refreshing. I love Seiichirou's personality, and his obsession with accuracy in his job.

The male lead seems like a good guy and
Spoiler

actually makes sure to get Seiichirou's consent before s*x - which, again, not exactly the norm for this genre, but very welcome.

I hope he continues to look out for Seiichirou.

This is a well written story. For an isekai, a BL, and an office worker, this story is just so well written. [I also highly recommend checking out the manga adaptation. The work using manga's strengths is excellent as well.]

The premise itself and the rules the author has set up for the world is smart and well utilized. Even the BL factor is quite tastefully used in it's specific premise, execution, and boundaries within its world and story. Not a single detail given/revealed is wasted. Every detail so far has... more>> grounded the story and painted its characters with distinctness and purposeful existence in the plot. Even intimate scenes are utilized to develop the characters rather than what one usually finds in genres veins characterized by more abundant sexually explicit details, content and events.

The "corporate s*ave" character and element of the protagonist is given proper portrayal of its harshness and driven-to-death lifestyle and mentality. His situation becomes better revealed over the first 10 chapters. The position he finds himself in makes way for dynamic and invested moments between himself and the knight captain whom he becomes entwined with.

The "saint" character is an unliked character in a good way. Her existence and her development are actually the center of the story's conflict. From the saint summoning, to the protagonist's position and condition, to her immaturity as a person both from her age and her situation, the saint's attitude and actions are much more troublesome and "volatile" than she even has an inkling of.

This is a great story to try for both isekai and BL readers who may not read much of the other genres. I applaud this story (whose translated chapters are approaching the conclusion) for its tasteful, thought out use of its content: isekai, BL, saint summoning, and corporate s*ave office worker. <<less

I mtled this but I’m still gonna follow the translations. There are a lot to like in this novel. Ales is super duper cute like omg... this is prolly the first time I found a seme cute? Lol And prolly the first time I was rooting for the seme to end up with the MC whole heartedly. ... more>>
Spoiler

It has been very tough for Ales okay because he’s younger and is actually the complete opposite of the MC.

[collapse]

The MC works too much but he is a likable guy despite that. The side characters are also fun. Norbert is best boy in this story hahhaha Yua’s character development was also good especially in the second volume where we got to see more of it.

There are alot of lovey dovey moments in this volume and I actually really like how the leads developed feelings for each other. It was really super cute. I don’t really read japanese BL novels that much but I’ll prolly check more out from now on. <<less

This is maybe the most extreme case of me loving a comic adaptation and yet hating the source novel. I'll keep reading the manga, but I'm not going to continue with the novel and I regret having read it, as I feel the weirder aspects of volume 2 will taint my enjoyment of the manga. Although if the manga ends up being faithful to how r*pey the whole thing gets, I'll hate it regardless.

The first 3vol of the manga roughly corresponds to the first volume of the novel, and while... more>> I did enjoy both, the manga cut out a lot of the narration that drags excessively, as well as injected humor into certain scenes where the novel was lacking. Where I actively start to dislike this series is in the 2nd novel, which I struggled to even get halfway through. My issues are...

    1. It's extremely boring and repetitive. If this is a parody of isekai'd girls going to new world and effortlessly solving everyone's problems, there's a wealth of cliches to riff off of. Yet every day is him going to work/having 5 sentence conversation with side character/wax poetic about how he might solve boring bureaucratic issue for 10 paragraphs/repeat.
    2. Seiichirou is an incredibly stagnant character. If that's part of the joke, fine, make the characters revolving around him more interesting. But giving someone who has zero character development over 90% of the narration/dialogue results in the story feeling completely pointless.
    3. Increasingly uncomfortable dubcon. I get the vibe that Seiichirou is ace/aro, but even if he's not... being forced to engage in s*x to stay alive, now with someone who's being really sexually aggressive in an attempt to force one-sided romantic feelings on him, is more like a nightmare than a fantasy. This makes scenes of intimacy that would otherwise be hot just incredibly disturbing. I feel no doki-doki if the MC has unequivocally said in both narration (and verbally, out-loud) that he does not reciprocate ML's feelings and clearly dreads having to be intimate with him. Worst of all is the line,
      Spoiler

"Seiichirou's gaze grew distant, as he could not escape." This is literally just describing him dissociating before being assaulted. He then says, "That's enough, " asking Aresh to stop. And Aresh responds, "Don't be s*upid. There's no way I'm going to waste an opportunity to hold you."............ WTAF!?

      [collapse]
The whole, "oh noooo we have to have s*x with each other bc ~silly magical reason~" only works in a series if both people start to catch feelings... otherwise it's just horrifying. And now he's being sexually harassed by a 3rd (or 4th?) man at work he's also not interested in? Is this supposed to be... funny? Because it's definitely not romantic. <<less

EDIT: I just realized this has a second novel! I really don't know how I missed that. Therefore my previous complaint no longer stands and I'm excited for the rest of the story!

Disclaimer: Japanese is my second language so there are probably nuances I missed in this which may affect what I'm about to say

Overall this was great. The seme Alesh is super caring (although controlling at times) and the uke Seiichirou is a somewhat expressionless workaholic. The plot was overall entertaining as I love fantasy isekai. There are complaints... more>> about the main female character but like the other reviewers say she does get much better. Honestly, it's hard to blame her for what happens

If I had one complaint, it would be that I can't really say that Alesh and Seiichirou are a couple? I mean, it's obvious Alesh loves Seiichirou, but Seiichirou seems to justify their relationship with efficiency regarding his work. I had hoped that by the end Seiichirou would be a bit more interested in Alesh but we didn't see that happen. Again, maybe I missed this due to the language barrier, but I was definitely disappointed on that front.

In any case, the author clearly put a lot of work into the novel and there were no plot holes or anything like that. There were also a lot of small details that contributed to the worldbuilding (such as tea being made with magic)

Will definitely be checking out more from this author! <<less

This is soo cute???????? At first there's a LOT of uncertainties of their relationship but it was easily passable.

The MC is really mature and smart, despite his aura he's a likable man.

The ML IS SOOO CUUTEEE I mean... he fell in love first and unexpectedly very caring so like.. I'm sold?

Also, lots of people doesn't like the saint which is understandable since she's pretty annoying but her character development is good.

This is perhaps the first time in my life where I think the comic adaptation of a book is actually better than the book itself. Normally, when I read a comic adaptation, I find that the comic waters down the plot, leaves out vast amounts of world and character building, and parses down the main character's thoughts and ideas into their most basic form. This situation is different.

After finishing what's currently available in the comic, I came here to read the novel and get the "missing pieces" (so to speak)... more>> only to find that there really aren't any. The main character's thoughts are so simple and straightforward that they were able to be perfectly and expertly displayed with drawings and a mere handful of words. Additionally the comics created a beautiful visual for descriptions that left much to be wanted in the original book. Even as someone who only rarely reads comics and vastly prefers books over them, I found this novel to simply be subpar when compared with the comic.

That said, I have no real complaints about the story. It's enjoyable enough, however going forward I plan to only read the comic version and put down the novel. Unless the comic deviates from the original work sometime in the future, I just don't see the value in continuing to read the book when, remarkably, the comic is better. <<less

The best BL I've read so far. A fresh take on the MC being a proper adult (and relatable for those hardworking people).
Binge read the manga as well and I can't wait for the new chapters to come (already bought the 2 volumes as well)

this is honestly pretty good?? I kinda expected it to be like those usual transmigration novels where the MC transmigrates and everything immediately goes right for them. But reading this novel subverted this expectation.

for one, the MC is not those naive, starry-eyed MCs. Instead, he's very realistic in his thinking and I felt that his deposition is very relatable (ie always very tired haha).

Spoiler

also the fact that he is not magically inclined (like in most stereotypical isekai novels) makes the MC relatable to me (though this just brings in smutty subplots but hey I'm not complaining!)

[collapse]

so far I'm very satisfied with the story and hope the relationship development between the MC and ML can develop even more hoho~ <<less

The first volume might seem like a cliffhanger and no proper closure when it comes to their relationship but don't worry! The second volume would properly tie all the loose ends in their relationship. But this is really a nice novel. Rarely do I come across a JPLN BL with a good narration and good translation so kudos to the translator and author.

I really love this story. There is a focus on the romance (which is MUTUAL, even if the MC is kinda dense) but a big part of it is the MC's work ethic and drive to make the most of his situation. I enjoy the fact that it's not constant dogfood, but well-incorporated into the story. The side-characters seem one-dimensional at first glance, but they're fleshed out in their own ways and are pretty adorable. Even the female lead of the story is tolerable, portrayed as merely a naive teenage... more>> girl rather than a b*tch. I hope the translator finishes this series, so I can read more! <<less

(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) It's interesting reading about this popular genre with not only with BL elements but also from the perspective of the "extra" being an older, workaholic uke. I liked that the characters that haven't been given a lot of screentime aren't completely one dimensional and the world building isn't bad.

Looking forward to the next volume! (≧▽≦)

I love everything about this. I love that it's not just a fantasy love story but also a very good criticism of the toxic work culture of Japan. Also lightly touches upon the ephebophilia problem there. Wakatsu woke.

The translation is of high quality so you can start reading this without fear of getting a headache just trying to understand what's being said. Updates every week too!! Great job guys, thank you :3

It's sooooo good, I loved this so much. Well written plot, good characters and everything about the romance is pure heaven for me.

I like both the MC and ML! And I looVEed the smutty parts of the story (I was surprised how much I enjoyed the smut in this I don't usually read it but I'm definitely reading yaoi smut next time hehe~)

This deserves 100001/10! :D

People have been giving this a 5 star but Imma going to give it a 4.. If it wasn't for the translator's good job in translating, I would have given it a 3.

The plot is one I've been waiting for, actually.. A Male MC isekia'd in a fantasy world instead of a girl. (Well, technically, he's like a side character since the 'main character' accidentally pulled him in with her, but details.. *Shrugs*)

At first I loved how very realist the MC was and still do, but since this is... more>> in line with a romance genre, I was very much looking forward to the development of it. Now, I'm not saying don't read it, but if you aren't a fan of slow, Slow, SLOW, development, I suggest you look elsewhere. I know that this only has two volumes in and not even that long since the start of the second volume, but I am sorry to say that the MC, Kondou Seiichirou, is something akin to a brick wall.

Spoiler

His character is a workaholic to where, even when he's pulled into another world, he asks for a job and goes and does it as if nothing has changed from his previous job. The ML, Aresh, has developed some feelings for him as far as I've read, but it doesn't show just how much other than the rather forceful, (but necessary! There is no r*pe people! Trust me!) touches he gives to the MC. Their interactions are cute but weird (in my opinion) wherein MC treats ML like a pushy, mother-hen type, colleague and ML tries (and fails) to get the MC to acknowledge his feelings for him by baiting him with work and stuff, or at least that's what I'm getting from reading this. They're both first timers with the emotion 'love', 'like' and whatnot (meaning they've never bothered to think about it) and they're both headstrong in their own ways and very stubborn, so while it may be nice to know how they'll end up together (or not), it is honestly frustrating when the MC doesn't acknowledge it, sidesteps it and blatantly ignores it by focusing solely on his work. He has more connection to his Real puppy-like colleague, Norbert than the ML and it's honestly frustrating to read.

My prediction is that it will take the girl, Yua, the saintess from his world, to point out his "love" problem only until after she settles her own "love" problem with the prince crushing on her, which is still a long while yet.

[collapse]

So if you're not a fan of reading about work and no play, I suggest you rethink this one. But if you are willing to read, just remember to give props to both the author and translator for at least sharing this novel with us. <<less

The MC has a real mature mindset on what were his principles and priorities in being dragged into another world where you’re an extra. He knew his self worth and what he was willing to do to give himself a sense of existence. I appreciate that. The author also depicts the reality of having an immature school girl/saint to save the world to be foolish. But she was surrounded by fools who allowed her to make mistakes they covered up. No harem. Just fools for fans that can be tiresome... more>> to bump into. The prince is one of those fools. I loved the ML and MC. I also loved that the author wanted ML to seek consent before intimacy. Wish I could read a little smut but sigh...

Spoiler

The MC is intolerant to magic in a world that is filled with magic. He was dragged into this world because he happened to be trying to save a schoolgirl from an accident. Him touching the girl who was being summoned brought him too. He realistically offers to work for the care he receives upon mistakenly being taken there. The ML saves him when he has a magic overdose. ML grows to having feelings from getting to know MC which is lovely. The saint girl fans are practically all fools when it comes to anything the saint does. Only when the girl realizes there is no easy button and can be killed does she and her fan group slowly grow up and use their heads.

There are 3 arcs. I thought first arc was the whole story but pleasantly found the other arcs. I also feel the novel reading is way more detailed than visually reading the mangas. I could only get more implied smut from reading than from the illustration itself 😂. The interaction between MC and ML is quite sweet and hot to imagine. MC improves the world through his experience, ideas, and the fundamentals of how an office, government, and economy should work.

[collapse]

I wish the translators could continue the novel as I wanted to read the ML and MC interactions in better detail. <<less
