The Days of Being an Assistant for the CEO of a Mary Sue Novel

Me, your average personal assistant.

What’s not average about me is that I’m the personal assistant of the domineering CEO in those Mary Sue novels (“The day has gotten colder, Wang Corporation will go bankrupt”).

As well as——the quite unusual tasks that the CEO requests of me.

I feel like it’s a bit difficult for me.

This is short, to the point some of the plot is hard to follow and you end up going what? When? Who am I?

Spoiler

The ML is not the president who slept with the girl but his uncle. Everyone seems to think our little assistant is in love with the president, but this is not the case. Even when he denies it they seem disbelieving....

The actual ML does seem to actually care about him though despite the pervasive misunderstanding (he still thinks our boy likes the president despite our boy dating him lol I can't even guys).

[collapse]

Take this one as a fun mini story and don't expect to get into much depth. <<less

This is a light light light read. No drama, short story. There is too much time skip and the story overall feels incomplete and lacks depth. The chapters up to which he met the male lead (his boss's uncle) was going pretty smoothly. It had lot of funny moments. But as it reached the later chapters, it started to have time skip and seems rushed. I truthfully can't get over the fact that MC's boss has more lines and presence than MC's boss's Uncle who is supposed to the ML.

I... more>> also think the story has a lot of potential because I like this idea a lot.
Spoiler

I mean MC is introduced to a psychiatrist, while allowing speculate if he really transmigrated or if it's his imagination. Well he later realises and it doesn't matter as what he is living in is reality and everyone are alive and have emotions.

. I think that just by adding some depth to the chapters coming after chapter 7, the story can improve a lot. <<less

This was extremely disturbing. The first half was fine, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary and it was fun having the protagonist judge and view the plot watch from a third POV but the latter half when he becomes the boss' uncle's assistant just seriously gave me the creeps.

In regards to his mental state, it was ok and pretty intriguing delving into a different stance on how a transmigrator would experience their life in a novel despite this suddenly being explored without any prior indication. However, the uncle is... more>> just... omg. This protagonist was essentially r*ped and imprisioned by his abusive boyfriend (the uncle) for an extented period of time, what really sells it to me though was how they ended up together in the end despite this toxic bf disgustingly taking advantage of this mentally-ill man for years. It was just not right, man; it was NOT what I signed up for at all! <<less

Short read... can't say it's either good or bad cuz it feels more like I read a massive summary of a long novelI (It Has a tiny lil twist which keeps it unpredictable.)

The ML did a few unsavory things which were only explained in 2-3 lines n later fixed his errors.

Honestly, It doesn't make it right, but had this been fleshed out, it would have changed the tone of the novel to angst with Happy ending.

Let me just say when I picked this up, I thought it was gonna be something light and comedic (and it is!) but I was really pleasantly surprised with how things turned out it in the end. This may be a cliched trope but I like the way the author put a spin on it.

Anyways this is a very short novel and very light read. It serves its purpose on making you laugh while also thinking for a bit.

This was a pretty good read! I always questioned how well transmigrated folks adapted to their new world and I think MC is an example of being unable to (mentally and emotionally) integrate himself into his new world. The story started off pretty amusing with us having a glimpse of the CEO's assistant's POV but it went downhill to the therapist's real quick.

Overall, an interesting read. Could've done better if it was written longer or progressed a little slower!

I feel like everything was really sudden? The MC had a fun personality, but the progression of the story was weird.

That random time skip where the main ship gets together?

This was short but a bit deeper than expected and darker than expected, too. This novel feels like it have been shortened from a mid-length novel into a summary of highlights within a chapter limit of 12. While I don't particularly mind it, I still would have liked it if the novel had been longer and more fleshed out. The potential was definitely there, potential for emotional drama, I mean. The MC seemed pretty happy go lucky at the beginning. But later on we find out that that is only... more>> on the surface. What made him like that and how did his relationship with the ML develop and affect him is glossed over a lot. And while the do mention it, due to the author leaving out those events in their writing and only mentioning them in conversation immersing oneself into the novel becomes quite difficult, I must say.

Either way, I would still consider this a passable read, considering how I happened to stumble upon this novel in passing and didn't have high expectations to begin with due to the low chapter count. <<less

Interesting concept! I enjoyed the first few chapters but after awhile everything gets really fast paced and confusing.

You’re in the action for the first few chapters, then you’re viewing bits and pieces of what feels like summaries from a 2nd floor window.
It’s about a 15 minute read, so I can’t say it’s too big of a time waster but it doesn’t really feel much like even a short story, just a summary or an overview of one.

An interesting idea with a poor execution.

Spoiler

Also the part in the last few chapters where it reveals the MC is suddenly depressed and suicidal bc he views the world as a novel is confusing? I didn’t really see the appeal of sprinkling in it because it felt like a weird out of date hot sauce just sprinkled on the side. It could’ve been good. It was executed poorly.

This is kind of rushed and seems light in the beginning but there's a plot twist later and it's really sad. It's still rushed, just a bit more heavy than you would expect from the novel discription.

I actually wanted to give it only 2.5 stars, but I hit the 5 stars accidentally.

It started pretty good but.... like what??!

... more>> The author doesn't explain anything. I thought his boss was going to be ML, but he wasn't. The author just threw in a line that MC got together with boss uncle and I am like????? Like what just happened?? More explanation would have been nice.

And the MC treats this only as a novel even after living years in it, and obviously deals with some suicidal thoughts. The author also didn't explain that clearly, and just sprung it on us.

It really shouldn't have been so short cause it compromises with the reading experience. Dumped loads of info on us and just ended like that.

This was actually a very interesting idea, but the author should have put some more work into it. <<less

Ok this is cute. It's cute and short. A good read to smile at while drinking coffee in the morning and its not too heavy or serious. Wish there was a little more. But isn't good as it is too.

Rather than call this a short story, I prefer to call this as a mini novel outline.

The author will only give you an outline of the character, storyline, story background, and plot line. There are lots of holes and time acceleration here that forces you to use your own imagination to make this writing intact.

What makes me give 5 stars is that this article is made very interesting to read and also highlights an issue that is rarely explored by other writers regarding transmigration.

Read on, I'm sure you will be... more>> interested. And I also hope that the author will continue this outline and make it a complete novel. <<less

This story gave me psychological depth that I never expected, and that was a little odd.

It showed that there should be a strong will or mental health to be possessed even when (transmigration)

never thought of it from that angle. So thank you to the author, despite the dark influence.

Liked the beginning, got confused towards the end, will have to wait for the translation.

Spoiler

Towards the end, MC had to see a psychiatrist? He was treated like he had a mental disorder? I got really confused. Was this transmigration all in his head or just messing with his head? It also messed up his relationship with ML. There was some conflict. So it started out funny and cute and just came crashing down from there at that point BUT it kind of got resolved. MC had an epiphany (good for him but I did not have the same EUREKA moment as him) and it somehow resolved everything but I didn't really got got it. Sooo I'll wait for the translation to actually understand. Like I could read the Chinese words but it wasn't making sense as a whole.

Wow, just the first chapter alone made me laugh! The translation is top quality and I just love the premise. Basically the MC gets transmigrated as the assistant of one of those rich CEO types in romance novels that fall in love with the female protagonist. And so this story has the boss ordering MC around, demanding ridiculous stuff like "Find out who that woman I met yesterday was, " and the MC going all "What? Where were you yesterday? How am I supposed to know? It's not in my... more>> job description!" but the boss has already hung up so the MC has to find a solution.

It's really hilarious so far and I like the tone. Also the translator did a good job, or their editor did.

This is a joy to read, based on the chapter I've read so far. <<less

Too many plot holes and conveniences.

Spoiler

MC enters a Mary Sue novel. OGML and ML fall in love at first sight with FL though idk how ML met FL. But ML then falls in love with MC at first sight. Seems like the laws of the Mary Sue world only work when it's convenient.

Doctor Shu is also a very convenient character who immediately accepts that he is in a Mary Sue world but argues that MC's existence broke the Mary Sue world laws so their world is not exactly a Mary Sue. Seems like bullshit.

Interesting novel. It's short, doesn't focus much on the romance but shows the reader glimpses of a Mary-Sue novel from an outsider's perspective. Since this was short, there wasn't too much of a character development. But the last 2 chapters (including the extra) were quite explosive.

🚫🚫🚫SPOILER!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT THE STORY'S TWIST TO BE RUINED!!! 🚫🚫🚫
Spoiler

we realize that the MC who had never considered his second life as reality, but a Mary Sue novel, was depressed to the extent that he often contemplated su*cide. This was intensified by the ML's typical dominating behaviour. Of course we see some non-con/dubcon moments being mentioned indirectly. This is seen in a lot of romance novels (both straight and BL) and is definitely problematic. What we DON'T usually see is the ML realizing his own mistakes and trying to rectify both his behavior and getting professional psychological counseling for the MC. I was pleasantly and genuinely surprised. The ML cared enough for the MC's mental well-being and was also confronted by his psychiatrist friend about his unhealthy obsession about the MC. I don't know how I feel about them being together despite the implied nonconsensual s*x, but I hope they work through it.

Another important issue was how the writer doesn't show the MC enjoying the ML's behaviour. I mean many BLs show us that the protagonists are annoyed by their partner's domination, but they gloss over it pretty quickly with the issue of s*xual indulgence. Here hough, you can CLEARLY FEEL the MC being being annoyed with the ML. Rather, you feel his indifference towards everything. You also feel his fear of coming to terms with reality once the psychiatrist makes him realize that his current life isn't moving exactly like a novel's script. The MC also realizes his mistake in considering his surroundings as nothing but a novel. I wish the author elaborated more on this.

[collapse]

I never expected such a short story would give me this much food for thought. Once you go to the last chapter and the extra, things take a complete 180° turn. Even if this isn't everyone's cup of tea, I recommend that you give this a try.

P.S. This has potential. I wish the author elaborated the story to make it longer. Can the fans at least make some fanfictions? That would be great! 🙈

I found this to be a very good short story. Brilliant, not the same as other transmission novels I have read. The last chapter was a little.. meh... could have had a better ending and there was one part where I was like wtf just happened.. I think it was ch 10 where he said " he did things" (more like a plot hole really) I'm not going to say too much. I don't want to give spoilers. But the rest of it was brilliant. I honestly laughed so much... more>> while reading this story. <<less
