Former Gaming God Ye Nuan, after resurrecting in the virtual reality game called 《 Second World 》, hatched a magic pet whose ID read 「 Quilt 」 and also looked like a quilt.

Quilt was very soft. Hugging felt very comfortable. Every day, Ye Nuan would hug it while sleeping.

She absolutely didn’t expect that this Quilt, which she believed to be an NPC, was actually controlled by a real person! Nor for it to have a human form!

Quilt: Sorry, this is an accident……

Ye Nuan: Forget about it, it’s fine, the same as hugging someone.

Quilt: ???

Had an interesting premise but fell short on execution.

a short story so short that I feel too many elements had been explored.

it was decent ig. Wouldn't want to read it again tho-ever.

I hate inconsistencies....

MC claimed to be top ranked player in another game - but her actions are like brainless newbie

MC got customizable pet egg -> immediatedly use it w/o thinking (strike 1) -> her mind wanders during hatching/creation process (strike 2) -> cant decide what pet she needed till time out (strike 3 - out! Definitely not "expert" behavior)

Then after the egg hatch into a Quilt -> MC disdain it imediatedly w/o trying to figure out its uses (strike 1) -> MC spent nearly all her gold to buy... more>> pet level up pot w/o knowing what Quilt could do (strike 2) -> Quilt got to lvl 10 and have useful shapeshifting and transformation skill - MC (again) disdain it w/o trying to figure out its uses and want to tr*sh Quilt (Out! OUT!!!!)

No rating since this is personal opinion but as someone who take game more seriously than average players, I feel insulted. <<less

I thought Snowy Codex had really good translations, but..... for this one I cracked up SO MUCH because at times the translation read like a p*rno 😂

Excerpt:
Spoiler

Ye Nuan stood in place, as steady as a mountain. "Let's start ah."

Four Seas Fragrance: "I'm coming ah!"

Ye Nuan: "You come ah."

[collapse]
😂🤣🤣

It's the translator's decision to leave articles/sound effects (equivalent of the japanese "desu!") untranslated, but there were so many of them in every chapter and every character will use them, it was difficult to focus on the storyline with so many out-of-context sound effects.

Also, it seems the translator isn't super familiar with games because there are some mistakes in being too literal. For example, the correct translation for "blood" is actually HP or health. Chinese gamers will nickname the HP bar "blood" because it's red (just like how HP stands for hit points), but when a potion "fills up blood" it's really... not that lol, it's filling up health.

I usually like gaming novels; this one has a strong assassin female MC that pokes fun of the typical CEO ML or common "rank 2 gets together with rank 1 gaming god in the server" tropes in these types of novels (ML is not CEO, but is rich).

Spoiler

But do suspend disbelief because this novel says the game doesn't allow people to play as the opposite gender (HAHAHA), and the MC is basically the "only exception" / "only" female gamer ranked in the top 500 players in the server.

[collapse]

Humorous and lighthearted read. Ending a bit rushed but, it's a short novel.

Spoiler

MC's daughter marrying a doctor with 30 year old age difference was very very weird.

It's a negative average of a typical novel with a virtual reality game. In my opinion, the story doesn't have that much of a tense plot, it is really dull how it repeats with the FL leveling and PK-ing most of the time.

In short, I don't recommend it.

Good night.

Translator here~

TLDR; Sweet romance novel that uses a game and mu*der mystery as a backdrop. Don't expect much complexity.

Not going to lie, this is not a complex novel. It is overwhelmingly simplistic and all about romance with a dash of gaming. The game itself is also fairly simple, a basic mmorpg. The fights are all dash, stab, skill, excessive use of combos you don't get descriptions of - aka not a novel for ardent gamers. The FL is also not the typical, calculative, gaming genius. Take that thought out of... more>> your head. She is pretty much the instinctive type. She plays for fun and to win, but not to the point where she is paranoid about every single choice she makes. She's spontaneous and straightforward, blunt to the point of rudeness. If that's not your type of FL, then click the [x].

You get a plethora of potential male leads, but you know from the title of the novel that the true ML is the pet Quilt. I do like the fact that the author wrote such distinctive takes on classic ML tropes. You get the cold genius older brother, the flamboyant pretty boy, the silent protective type, the tsundere younger brother, the wild older man type, the prettiest snow lotus type, the rich, domineering CEO type...... the FL knows her preferences though. That is the thing. She will entertain thoughts about pursuing a romance, but little things stop her, little pet peeves that instantly chill any interest. What I like about this is how realistic it is. This describes exactly how crushes come and go, how interest brews and fizzles out.

Suspense of disbelief is definitely needed. I had to hit the bottle for a few of the later chapters because a buzzed state was the only way I could translate without having to take breaks every 5 minutes. But it's not a bad thing. I admire the ingenuity and how true the author keeps to the characters' profiles. You expect the FL to be silly, the ML to be doting, and the author follows through.

In the end, it is not a stellar novel, but it is a cute romance for a quick read. <<less

The story is quite interesting. It's about MC who is pronounced dead in reality after a car explosion. In order to save her life, a scientist who was presented at the explosion scene (ML), decides to transfer her consciousness into a character in a famous game. In order to observe her better, ML also transfers his consciousness into the game and accidentally becomes MC's pet as a quilt (you could guess it from the title).

During their time in the game, they slowly attract to each other while trying to find... more>> a clue about who is MC's mu*derer and how to get back to reality.

This is not a crime novel so don't expect a complicated mu*der plot.

Spoiler

There is no conspiracy or suspense at all. It's just merely a jealous colleague who claimed that MC stole her work and also her boyfriend. And coincidentally, her brother is weapon smuggler and she chose the most extreme weapon to kill MC, the explosion. The most ridiculous thing is the police actually spent years to solve this case (it's not like they are an organized mobster or criminal so it should be quite easy to trace the explosion's source, right?).

It's literally fluff. Good if you actually like fluff. The ML and FL are both really cute and honestly, everything that happened between them was quite well paced so it didn't really feel as though it's too rushed or just too slow. The story itself is more on the relationship between the ML and FL so there isn't really much on the plot.

But if you are reading for the fluff and rs between them instead of the plot then this novel is highly recommended. Especially since you will never be... more>> able to see a quilt being a ML in any other novels HAHAHAHA <<less

Evidently, this novel is not supposed to be super deep or touching, and is simply another fluffy, cute story. It's an average novel... just something to pass the time.

There are some interesting premises:

Spoiler
    1. Rarely seen pairing in asian novels of FL being the dominant one in terms of personality. Commonly it's the overbearing president/CEO/emperor etc etc trope where the ML is usually more forceful.
    1. I wouldn't say this is necessarily a plus, but there is the sci-fi of transferring brain waves from a live person to a game then to an android in the story. Essentially very fantasy tech orientated.
      [collapse]
The FL has a very smooth life (even the mu*der plot was super glossed over and unsuspenseful), and her time in game was just some face slapping and her showing off her "OP abilities". There are some illogical aspects (such as the police searching for an unconfirmed mu*derer without enough evidence for 3 WHOLE YEARS, when the FL seems to have a normal background), so if you ignore these and shut off your brain, you'll be fine.

The thing that bothered me the most was that in the end the ML was super busy and returned home like once a month, and the fact that the FL was completely fine with it felt off, because you simply can't be this lovey-dovey and understanding spending so much time apart. It just contrasted sharply to the warm, gentle atmosphere in the beginning and gave off a sense of strangeness imo.

Overall, an ok read. <<less

It was a really good story. It was almost entirely fluff, and the plot is eh, and the side characters are one-sided (so are the main characters for that matter) but I still enjoyed it. Sometimes you need a little cute, easy fluff in your life.

Sweet, relaxing read. No drama.

The ending seemed a bit... dragged out... (and a bit ridiculous) but those are just the last couple of chapters and the story feels complete even without them.
