when her parents truly did abandon her at the same time as her first love, a.k.a our bodyguard, broke her heart, all of these issues were amplified. She responds by creating a shell and not caring.

Maybe it's because the author frequently describes how pitiful yet ultra-attractive she looked to the ML, from her eyes/her exposed body/her skin/etc., but it really struck as more "pretending in order to win pity" than something genuine from her upbringing.

Also the MC is a legal adult (18), yet acts like an 8 year old. I could understand her desperation/loneliness and ultra spoiled naivete up to the point when she touched the ML when he was sleeping and tried to keep him with her after confessing to him--when she knew that he had a girlfriend already. That was a turning point for when she went from pitiable to manipulative.

Of course stuff like this can happen in real life. I'm not blaming the MC for trying it because she was desperate, and I'm not blaming the ML for falling for it and remembering it (since he fell for it, he definitely felt something for her and feelings can't be forced). But like I said, that's why this story is not my cup of tea and why I don't feel much pity for the MC.

FL is really pitiful, she acts spoiled and arrogant because she wants attention of her family and ML. Even thought she knows ML has a gf because of her loneliness and her wanting to cling to her last hope, she acts wilful (tags along on dates, calls him and makes him come back in middle of dates and even tries to seduce him) and finally break them apart. As I said she is pitiful but that doesn't mean she needs to be forgiven.

I am touched that ML remembers FL after their separation. Everyone round him including his ex gf knows he loved the FL for eight years. But then again, even tho he loved her, he didn't think of finding her for eight years because he didn't think it was love.

The FL accepts the ML even tho he abandoned her and wasn't by her side when he was needed (when her family abandoned her) . He had broke her heart in a cruel way. He was really cold. (I personally think he ran away because he was scared of falling in love with FL and that if he had at least said some good words to her she wouldn't have ended up with such painfully low self esteem And wouldn't have become such a empty shell). As FL was very young, he should have used gentler methods. I understand he had his dilemma over his gf and FL but being so near her he could have understood why FL became like this.

Her parents don't care abt her only shower her with money. Her mother wanted a divorce but her father doesn't except it. She tries many methods to force him including giving the password to their house To gangsters and scaring FL with them. I mean FL has a mental breakdown after it. Father doesn't divorce her cause he wants resources. And grandfather regrets spooling her mother so doesn't give lover to FL. They all abandon her. She gets punished for their crimes. She leads a life without love and full of loneliness.

Of course, who doesn't love a good wedding and a couple of cute buns, but I think the way the epilogue ended was just right. And we still got to see some cute bun-related fluff, with Tang Tang and MC's adorable relationship.

He may not have outright said he loved her, as other reviewers have pointed out, but it's very much implied and shown through his actions. I think it's very in line with his character. He's not the type who says sweet, mushy words of love, and I like that about him.

Shanshan was such a pitiful child. All she ever wanted was attention from her family and the new guy who entered her life. And so, she did whatever she felt would attract their attention. She was unreasonable, and honestly, I also didn't like her at that moment, but she was not annoying. Every rich, spoiled and lacking love would probably act this way, after all she was still a child at the time.

8 years later, we find Shanshan again, totally different from the past. When I got to peek at her inner thoughts, I couldn't help but tear up and my heart bled. How could such a child survive the family drama that caused her emotional turmoil? I find her emotionally broken beyond repair. No amount of doting from Xiang Yu would rid her of the shadow that lived in her heart for many years. Everyone she loved left her, including him, at the time when she needed him the most.

I'm not satisfied that Xiang Yu never fully considered her state of mind at first. He never understood why she was a different person now and selfishly wanted the old Shanshan back. I'm just glad he never voiced it to Shanshan and never forced her to change back. And at the end, I was moved and comforted that he told Shanshan that he understood why she was insecure in the relationship, and that he would wait for her until she could fully trust him again.

My only regret was that the story was short and so the emotions weren't fully explored. But overall, it was a nice short read.

ML was a terrible boyfriend, at least to Shui Xin (his ex). I'm not defending Shui Xin here because I know she had her own fault too but I also know that sometimes woman had their own instinct regarding her boyfriend's wavering attitude and that's exactly what Shui Xin felt. She could feel that ML was no longer with her emotionally and that's why she often threw a tantrum at ML.

If ML really loved Shui Xin, he should give her some sort of security and comfort but he didn't do any of that. He treated Shui Xin coldly and made the situation worse. I don't know why he just didn't ask for a breakup if he no longer loved her.

He also ruthlessly left FL but it was understandable at that time because he still had a girlfriend and he didn't want to make the situation worse. But then 8 years later, long after he broke up with Shui Xin, he claimed that he always missed FL. It's a bit laughable though. If he really missed her, why he didn't try to contact her during those 8 years? It's not like they're in ancient times where communication was hard. And then after he met FL again, he forcefully invaded her life again without asking her opinion.

It's also hard for me to like FL. She knew that ML already had a girlfriend but she still tried to seduce him. When ML was unyielding, she threw a tantrum and begged him without any dignity. Fast forwarded 8 years later, when ML came into her life again, she easily accepted him like he never ruthlessly left her. He also wasn't there when she needed him the most. He didn't even confessed to her properly and straightly took her to bed. No wonder she always felt insecure about their relationship.
