so far so good, if I had to nitpick anything the author spends way too much time talking about the traitors' reasons to be traitors. Honestly, like 90% of the time, I don't care and the chapter is just wasting time, they're traitors, people are dying or have died because of their betrayal. The moment someone has been killed because of a traitor's actions, knowing why is a luxury only for those who care, it is definitely not a necessity. The MC seems fascinated on why he's been betrayed even... more>> as it happens again.

he even goes around acting like he wants to redeem the traitors, but the traitors have killed or are trying to kill the loyal. He's not in a position with the luxury to be forgiving these people or he'll lose the loyalty of the loyal and yet the author spends entire chapters focused on the why. Who cares about why? Your people are dying every day and every moment you think about why is a moment your people are sacrificed by these traitors.

honestly makes me think the author's going to give the betraying king a redemption arc. He mu*dered your father and many of your loyal knights to take over your country, and during the ensuing war his soldiers have killed your people. He was fully willing to kill you and consign your people to ens*avement to the empire. There is no place under the sun for both of you. What's weird is the MC isn't even bogged down by the typical japanese trope of "I'm a modern man so I have problems with killing" and yet he seems unduly concerned about the redemption of the people that sought to be participant in the extermination of his family.

I would rate this lower, but so far it seems to be more naivete that he will get over than a persistent trait. I will have to revisit after we've seen how he handles things in the future. <<less
