Jianghu has been peaceful and stable for many years already, yet the Demon Cult suddenly reared its head in the Northeast, at Xuecheng.

Outstanding righteous heroes gathered together at the Wulin Conference for a joint discussion of a crusade, to suppress the chaos once and for all.

Wulin Alliance Master: “Why hasn’t Palace Master Li of Wanren Palace come yet — which of you will go pass him a word?”

All sects have exceptional tacit understanding; all as one retreated three steps.

After a moment, there only remained one figure at the front of the hall: an extraordinarily talented and good-looking youth in white clothes.

Wulin Alliance Master, as if relieved of a great burden: “Then I will trouble Young Master Zhu, much obliged.”

Zhu Yanyin’s smile froze on his face, wait wait, what were you talking about just now?

Wanren Palace’s Palace Master, Li Sui — not a demon, but more demonic than one.

He lifted his eyelids, lazily and leisurely examining the person before him: “You also want to crusade against the Demon Cult?”

Zhu Yanyin hurriedly refuted: “No I don’t, I just want to stroll onto the stage when two sides are fighting, and charm the entire jianghu with my astonishingly elegant demeanor.”

Silly and sweet. No transmigration or rebirth or anything. The summary was a little confusing to me so here’s a brief explanation:

The MC is from a purely scholar family but constantly daydreams of the Jianghu and martial arts and loves to read those kind of books.

While on the road once, he gets attacked by bandits, hits his head and loses his memory and wakes up convinced he’s a secret martial arts master or has a dramatic past or *something*. Also his family is RICH. SO RICH.

A delicate snowy-white clothed fluffy... more>> young master runs away to the Jianghu and has the time of his life. The MC is sweet, very intelligent (when he’s not daydreaming) and becomes braver over time.

The ML is not the demon Lord but is as scary as one and everyone is terrified of talking to him and losing their head. He’s also the strongest martial arts master in the land. The demonic cult has been causing trouble and he is determined to wipe them out without caring for his life or about anyone. And has no idea where this puff ball came from. Very amusing to poke tho.

The Alliance of righteous clans is very smart. They saw the delicate young master and the scary lord of Wanren Palace talk! And the young master was fine! Wasn’t beaten up! That means that there’s a connection between them and they’re good friends! Quick! Make friends with the young master to get close to the scary (not demon) lord!

Amnesiac young master: (⊙v⊙) maybe... I really do have a connection to the Jianghu?? <<less

This is absolutely hilarious. At first, ML was cold and seemingly evil. His main purpose was to kill the demon lord and then die ... more>>
Spoiler

He had old injuries from being attacked by the villain before

[collapse]
As such, he didn't care about other people. MC was a sheltered scholar who romanticize the jianghu. He has no fighting skills whatsoever but he's really smart. He was really scared of ML after witnessing him killing bad guys.

MC was from a rich influential family. He had amnesia after an accident and thought he was part of the jianghu. He went to get treated by a jianghu doctor (ML's friend) and had to travel with the alliance on their way to fight the demon lord as the doctor had to continue treating ML and MC. Then it's the usual plot - betrayal, killing, a bit of mystery etc. Except with a very luxurious entourage (MC) tagging along (he had professional chefs, seamstress, servants etc). MC's travel style really made the journey way more entertaining.

I think MC and ML have a healthy relationship. After they got together, ML would ask MC's opinions or let MC make the decisions. ML and MC would tease each other equally and MC would tell ML that he would take him home after they've stopped the villain. I love everything about their relationship. In the end, MC wanted ML to live 100 years with him but ML thought 100 is too long and they started to argue. It's just so funny. <<less

For some reason I just find the combination of the wuxia/cultivation setting with comedy a really fun read when it's done right and this story definitely does it right!

The MC is a dainty white puff ball who escaped from his enchanted tower along with the entire palace treasury to go explore bandit land and fall for the biggest, grumpiest, loner in the Jianghu then go on a quest to kill the demon lord along with the other Jianghu lords. He brings with him, of course, his entire retinue of chefs,... more>> servants, furniture, silk bedding, anything a scholar might ever need, and infinite number of exquisite white outfits to change into all packed in the Rolls Royce of carriages pulled by rare white horses surrounded by his own trained guards/army. Because a puff ball princess travels lightly.

Meanwhile the ML who is the Lord of Wanren Palace has a horse, a sword, a wine skin, and a money pouch for the journey along with his ever-suffering doctor and a bunch of shadow warriors. He sleeps on a board. His default expression is "cause any trouble and I'll kill you." His horse likes him. When he stops scowling and starts teasing the MC he turns in to quite a handsome rogue though, which really makes things fun.

Obviously this is a match made in heaven and humor and the author handles it beautifully. Recommended for a good fun afternoon, but you will laugh a lot so maybe you shouldn't read it while your supposed to be working. <<less

This is just so, so good.

The interactions between the MC and ML are heightened by the internal thoughts of the MC and the visual cues from the ML. And then there are all the internal thoughts from the supportive characters. It becomes akin to reading the script from a play. The author's style of writing was perfect.

While I was reading, it occurred to me that most Chinese cultivation/fantasy/etc. Novels don't include the (Western-style) angst surrounding coming out and/or when they realized they were gay. Because those novels aren't set in... more>> 'real life', the read is so much easier, natural and 'normal'. As life should be. It's pleasurable to escape into a world where being gay just 'is'.

Thanks to the author as well as the excellent translator at Chrysanthemum Garden, Weaving a Dream. <<less

This is honestly very underrated. I think the synopsis is already enough to know not to expect some epic, serious war; it's more so a mostly lighthearted adventure romance story. There are stakes though, and some "mysteries" as well as some twists, the story is simple but not boring. Most plot points get resolved relatively easily, but the plot is not the focal point anyway.

This is the kind of romance where, in the beginning, you just can't imagine the MC and ML ever getting together, where you're left wondering what... more>> events would ever lead to them falling in love. And then at some point they get together and it's one of the best, smoothest, cutest processes you've ever seen because its so gradual, like a frog slowly but surely getting boiled without noticing, and there's such a tacit understanding between them. It's actually a very unique way of getting together, normally theres this realization that they're in love, then sometimes denial and at last a dramatic confession. This novel didn't do that, which was refreshing. If you've read until up here, just give the novel a try! If I had to critique one aspect, it'd be that adult scenes were only implied and very vague, which was a shame.

As is apparent through this review, I really liked this novel, it was relaxing and I'm going to miss it when diving deep into historical dogblood plots. <<less

A perfect match, to say the least! Even if it doesn't seem like it at first, they complement each other so well! Their relationship is pure pleasure!

A "snow-white", extremely wealthy young master and a cold "great demon lord" (that's what they're both called 🤭).

The story is set in Jianghu (the world, if I can put it that way, of heroes, martial arts and sects) with a small part in the normal world.

The plot is well written and I especially loved the characters, who I found hilarious (I see you, divine... more>> doctor Jiang and the erudite counter-attack (that's what I call them, yes 😂)).

It's worth noting that this is more of a comedy than a real drama.

I had a great time and it took me two months to finish the last chapter of the extras (I didn't want to leave them 🫡).

If you like comedy, with fights, a "mismatched" but endearing couple, colourful characters, I recommend it 💙 <<less

Seriously.. I loved it..

Everything was perfect. Though would have liked a little more world building but still it's sooo good, that I couldn't help giving a review.

The thing I liked the most about this story is how seamless the relationship between MC & ML grew.. There was no confusion about.. Am I in love? Or how does it feel to be in love or any confession blah blah blah.. It's so good. There was no extra drama of chasing and relatives..

ML though outward cold and unapproachable is literally a sweetheart... more>> for me.. He not like other ML who avoids MC coz he is falling for him or any other drama..

Okk, as per different stories there are different dramas.. But This story is Chef Kiss 💋 <<less

My only complaint is that the author, as typical of the Chinese mindset, equates bad people with bad/ugly looks, while good looking = good guys. So of course the two main characters are the besssst looking while all the bad guys/girls are ugly. Ok.

If that doesn't bother you then this was an easy pleasant read, albeit overrated. 4.4

This was such a wholesome and unique read. This was my first time reading about the strongest cultivator dating a commoner who doesn't cultivate at all, and it was really well done.

In this story, the Righteous Sects have the objective of defeating the Master of the Demon Sects, Chi Tian. ML is the strongest cultivator of the Righteous Sects, and his only motivation to live is defeating Chi Tian to get revenge. And MC... is the strongest cultivator of money. And by that I mean he's not a cultivator, he's... more>> a normal person without any powers... but HELLA MONEY! And as we all know, money is real power.

The MC, who is the second child of one of the wealthiest families of merchants (iirc they are THE wealthiest), is the brains of the operation, and the ML is the brawns, so even though MC cannot fight you never feel that he is a damsel in distress. The Righteous Sects are honestly dumb doormats without MC, and ML's fate would also be much worse off without MC. Additionally, MC is never taken hostage or anything like that (he is way too influential for anyone to have the balls to do so lol), so don't be concerned with getting annoyed at the MC being deadweight or anything like that.

This trope of cultivator/commoner was SO well done. The reason I jokingly call MC a cultivator of money is that this novel makes his wealth cartoonishly funny. A whole ass squad of helpers will manifest out of thin air to assist MC with everything. For example, near the beginning of the story, they stop by a restaurant, and the servants tell the restaurant that they don't need a table. Instead, in a matter of mere seconds, a group of well-trained servants runs into the restaurant, wipes the floor, manifests their own chair, table, and snacks out of thin air, and escorts the MC to the table. Dialogue excerpt from said scene:

Spoiler

"No need, " the steward of the Zhu Residence pulled out a handful of silver, his attitude gentle. "My young master is tired from riding in the carriage. He just wants to take a break here, no need for tables, chairs, or tea."

The proprietress was momentarily slow to react, but she absentmindedly took the silver. In the next moment, several house servants were already busy. They first unloaded a massive chair from the luggage carriage and placed it neatly in the shade. Then, they sprinkled water on the ground around it to suppress the dust. Afterward, they concocted two transparent jade teapots from the carriage, along with a pair of white porcelain teacups, and added a bowl of cooling ice cubes. All of it was arranged on a tray, respectfully held by a servant standing beside the chair.

Only after all this was done did Zhu Xiaosui help Zhu Yanyin out of the carriage.

[collapse]

It was honestly hilarious how influential MC was because he had money. Every cultivator kept thinking along the lines of, "Wow, money truly is the real power we should be striving for."

Now about the romance: super fluffy, no dubcon, non-con, forceful romance, etc. It's very heartwarming because MC and ML feel serene and content just spending time with each other. Also, ML is a gentleman when it comes to romance. They agree not to go the whole way until the wedding night, which I mention just as an example of how patient they are with each other. And I really like how MC is shameless in his attraction to ML, like randomly getting the urge to grope ML's chest, and ML will just let him get away with it with a deadpan face lol.

At first, ML's sole motivation in life is to kill Chi Tian, and in his mind, he has already prepared himself to die and take down Chi Tian with him because ML is in poor health. He doesn't take care of himself, doesn't sleep, doesn't take his medicine, etc. However, the INSTANT he realizes he has fallen in love with MC, he begins following all of his doctor's instructions to a T and says that he wants to live longer so he can match MC's lifespan.

Their love is too sweet. If you want something friskier, this isn't the novel for you—there is some implied s*xual intimacy, but most of the romantic scenes are cute fluff like feeding each other, taking a stroll together, cuddling, etc. If you want a slow burn, this is also probably not the right novel for you; they get together around the halfway point of the novel.

If you want a healthy relationship where both parties dote on each other and love each other deeply, THIS is the novel for you.

And finally, if you prefer a super detailed plot with hundreds of characters from different sects and intricate social politics, manipulation, backstabbing, betrayal, etc etc. This is also not the novel for you. This novel is like 60% romance 40% plot. And the romance is 100% fluff, no angst. <<less

An unexpected gem unearthed from the countless wuxia BL.

The writing is kept light and humorous, but the plot is plotting and keeps you equally entertained yet invested. Second Young Master Zhu (MC) is funny yet smart, and he’s not some flat character who merely relies on beauty to seduce Palace Master Li (ML). He can stand on his own without an ML; there is no need to change or improve himself. MC got attitude, wealth and flair, and it’s nice to see an actually intelligent main character who doesn’t act... more>> OOC. I truly love him (which is rare since I usually stan the MLs in BL)

May our snow-white fluffy young master and his big demon lord enjoy happiness for a hundred years! <<less

Sweet fluff.. Completely unlike what I've read before. The ML is not just “cold” for plot conveniences, he has his reasons. He grows too while staying with MC. The MC on the other hand, is also not “dumb shou” he is actually quite intelligent, has a backbone. Can hold his own against evil doers by himself. Their interactions in the beginning are so funny, and later on - so cute.

This is a very cute story. The MC is funny and smart and independent. The ML is good, strong, and actually pleasant. The ending is cute; I felt it was well-done and the entire story is humorous.
