Classic top ranking player gets transmigrated into their game. Although it's a common type of story, the directions it takes are pretty unique. For one thing, it completely focuses on being about mercenary recruitment and management. The protagonist isn't using his knowledge to get OP items or utilize secret training methods. He doesn't do any fighting, only commanding. If you've read too many of the former, then you'll appreciate this novel.

Another difference is the writing style. It's very vulgar. There's a lot of swearing, a lot of s*x jokes, and... more>> then actual s*x. The words 'f*ck', 'b*tch', and 'Shit', WILL appear in every sentence, sometimes multiple times. Here's a couple examples:

Spoiler

"He immediately ran over, grabbed the f*cking bit*h by the scruff, and hoisted her up. Then, shaking the hand that held her scruff, he cursed at her frightened face, not giving a sh*t if his spit was flying or not.

“You f*cking b*tch, are you not going to snap out of it quickly?! You f*ck, we’re all going to die at this rate, you f*cking b*tchhhhh!!”"

One of the characters is repeatedly referred to as "The milk-jug mage" because of her big b**bies. If you look at the cover, I'm sure you can guess what she looks like. She isn't referred to this occasionally by the way, this is literally her official title and she will be called despite the protagonist saying her name in actual conversation.

"The milk-jug mage got up, closed the spell book with a thud, and went to lie down on the bed, intending just to fall asleep like that. But her body was already in heat. Her mind was fuzzy, and her groin itched... The milk-jug mage recalled what the muscular woman had said a long time ago."

Personally I find it very fitting when you think about the fact that these are dirty, smelly, ill-mannered sell-swords putting their lives at stake for some coins. However, it's pretty excessive and may not be for everybody.

I do have a few issues:

The hated protagonist start. One of the worst ways to make the protagonist an underdog. You dumb down the other characters and the character the protagonist transmigrated into just to make his rise seem cooler.

Not enough depth into the system. We don't know how traits are gained, how stats are calculated, how skills or magic abilities are gained, etc. I'm glad there isn't any infodump, but there were plenty of times in which the author could've added little tidbits to makes things more clear.

TL;DR Mercenary management that's very quirky yet charming. Lot's of swearing. Definitely a hidden gem. <<less
