Really disappointed. The MC is like a typical wimpy Japanese MC. A crazy noble lady is torturing commoners and mutilating them and the MC wants to try to help the commoners. So he speaks in an informal, slightly disrespectful way to the lady. The lady then has her guards try to kill the MC for it. In fact, considering how carelessly the MC was behaving (he had his back turned to her and her guards after... more>> disrespecting her (wth)), if her guards had put a little more force into their actions he would have literally died. Then when his subordinates come and the situation is about to escalate, he constantly tries to downplay this situation and says he just wanted to teach the crazy noble a little lesson (so teaching them a small lesson is an adequate response to someone trying to kill you? Ridiculous). When the situation escalates and the entire noble family is about to be executed for trying to kill the MC (MC is a general in humanity's army and one of their greatest hopes) he tries to get them pardoned. This family btw is a family that uses it's noble status to bully commoners, physically harm them, alter contracts after they are signed, everything nasty. He still tries to get them pardoned. WTH?!!!

When I started reading the novel, the MC was able to act very coldly and rationally in even the most stressful situations. But somehow he became completely s*upid at this point. A wimpy bleeding heart.

He says he's a modern person who can't get used to seeing people killed. Nonsense, even in the modern world if you try to kill someone, the other person can defend themselves and even kill you in self defence.

I don't like MC's that ab*se their own power/status. And I don't like mu*der hobos. But I absolutely hate the sorts of MCs who treat others trying to kill them as if it's some negligible misdemeanor. Or atleast if there is some understandable backstory. Like someone's trying to kill you because someone else is holding their family hostage and will only release them if they kill you. Some understandable story like that. Not this nonsensical story where a family of outright tyrannical villains who are being spared.

Although this novel only has 10 chapters at the moment, the start has given me hope that this will be a good story. This novel starts off with the MC transmigrating into a game (as usual), but what really sets it off as different is its portrayal of other "extras" dying, and the MC actually feeling emotions despite other characters viewing him as composed. So far, I am thoroughly enjoying this story. It’s got a great mixture of comedy and adventure and the MC is a very fun character. I like how they make him OP in certain regards but the MC realizes his limitations and now has to supplement for all of his weaknesses while keeping others unaware of them.

I'm going to warn people now that think this is a misunderstanding fantasy story.. It is not..

The characters don't have any depth to them. Take a s*upidly evil noble girl from chapter 24 that wanted to cut off a store owner's leg because he wasn't afraid enough of her. She's there only to make a fool out of herself and to make the MC shine, while also making the reader feel good about it. "I can't wait till he teaches her a lesson!!!" She's nothing more than a caricature of a prideful, greedy noble. It's so cheap.

I think it's too early to judge the world-building, but so far nothing has stood out about it either. Demon bad, human/elf/dwarf good. I am not exaggerating when I say that ChatGPT could write a story with more depth and originality to it. Most of such novels at least try to insert some sort of a gimmick, but this one doesn't even have that. The rating of 4.4/5.0 is quite literally bait. <<less

Really promising premise, ok execution. It's not a bad read, but it's not really a super engaging read either.

The premise? A man makes a glass cannon mage character (all stats are 1 except magic), locks most of the skill tree, and builds a one shot gimmick character that can't deal with occasional enemy attacks but can wipe out a boss 10x his level once a day. Then he gets transmigrated into said character, but there's no game system, this is just a real world with magic.

It's interesting because the characters act more sensibly than most, but also not sensibly at all. Like yes, finding a mage who can fight an archdemon with no training is super cool and maybe warrants immediately placing him on the hero team, but... bringing him in front of the kings of different races??? no? why did that scene happen? Why are the demons smart but s*upid enough to be tricked by someone smirking at them? the characters and plot is so close to being good that it's almost aggravating that it isn't great.

There's a couple other issues with this that aren't explained. For instance, he locked his magic skill trees in the game, but not in "not a game but reality" so it's totally unclear if he can learn more spells or not, he just kinda assumes he can't and doesn't try, which doesn't make sense when levels and experience didn't carry over meaningfully. Other worldbuilding mysteries (so far) include the different races as they are currently classic tolkein planet of hats ripoffs, how magic actually works (being an x-circle mage is solely dependent on the amount of mana you have?), and the fact that his stamina doesn't improve over time despite clearly saying that it should because it's a real world now.

Overall, it's pretty good, but nothing amazing. If you like misunderstandings, a bit of comedy, and are willing to turn off critical thinking, it's great! otherwise, maybe move on. <<less

This novel is a bit dull. MC isn't really OP. He's really pathetic. And not unintentionally, it's a big part of part of the plot. If you're familiar with Konosuba, this is basically "What if the main character was an Isekai'd male Megumin?". The gimmick is he spec'd everything into magic and one spell, but that spell is a super powerful but all-mana consuming lightning spell.

It's exactly what you expect from that setup. Everyone thinks MC is this promising super prodigy. MC is so pathetically weak in every other aspect... more>> that he has to have male servants carry him around because walking is too hard for him, and he can get injured just passing out after using is magic.

It's fun once or twice, but it gets old very quick. Add on MC being your typical Mary Stu who has no real agency except survive and do what other people ask him to, who is overly kind and soft because he goes on about being a modern man in this barbaric fantasy world. He's basically as weak mentally as he is physically, only coming off confident because he happens to have an ability that forces him to be calm.

Unfortunately, though I tried to give it a fair shake, there were too many problems in the 9-10 chapters I read, and I found the novel not worth my time.

To begin, the main character is someone who is just blatantly s*upid. The situations he puts himself in is something that anyone could rationalize in his situation. While the MC thinks {Oh, these people suddenly think I'm super powerful. I wonder why?} It is so obvious as to why. Any normal - or slightly competent - person would think [Damn, because... more>> I used this one-shot ability, now they think I'm stronger (all around) than I actually am!] I don't understand why the author thought dumbing this character down was a good idea.

Then the pronoun game. Oh how I loathe it. "When 'he' arrives" "we just have to hold out until 'he' arrives!" "Even if we hold out until 'he' arrives" It's just so tedious to read, and doesn't offer anything besides "this specific character is male". If they used it several times in the first ten chapters, then they're going to use it a lot more later, and I don't feel like having my eyes twisted constantly because the author refuses to tell us who 'he' is before we see 'him'. Do you see how annoying it is when they could just tell us who 'he' is instead of leaving it open ended and not knowing who 'he' is?

There's near-zero world building. All we know is the starter town he's in is supposed to be destroyed; there's an alliance of races against the demon army; there's mages and magic towers for study; and 'he' is super powerful. In 10 chapters, that's shameful writing to the point it's almost insulting considering there's nothing to prevent him from giving us exposition. He could have wandered the starting city now that it wasn't destroyed and listen to bards singing tales or even asking for idel gossip. {Hey, what's the news around X-area?} (Ah, so there's actually a rumor about A, B and C at that place. If you're heading that way, be careful.)

The demons whole dynamic is s*upid. Mutants are controlled by Demons and Demons by Demon Lords. If a demon lord dies, presumably an entire percentage of Demons and Mutants will die, sharply decreasing the enemy forces. I can see that the MC will use his abilities and still wonder why people revere him as a genius mage.
