I had no interest in music in my life.

However, it seems that my past life was different.

Oh my GOD, this novel is SO GOOD!!! I'm so glad I found it!! 😭😭🤧🤧

It's a story about Brynner Friedrich, a Count who loves music so much, he wishes to make one himself. Unfortunately, he was hindered by a severe illness since childhood. This caused Brynner to resent his failing body, especially so when he was bestowed with the talent to discern music. As a way to forget his pain, he decided to use his talent to sponsor aspiring musicians. One day, he finally succumbed to his... more>> illness. Before he suddenly woke up and realized that he had reincarnated into the healthy body of a boy named Seoho. He could move his fingers, walk by himself. And with this second chance of life, he promised to fulfill his lifelong dream of making music.

This novel is so beautiful. From writing to characters' interactions. This author created their character so well, I thought Brynner was a real-life person! I mean... they made Brynner as a friend of real musicians' from the old; like Haydn, Paganini, Schubert, Beethoven, and Mozart. His conversation with them felt immersive and real, I often forget that this is a fictional character lol. Yeah. It's basically a self-insert character yet I still love this novel otherwise. That's just how good this author was in their worldbuilding

I like how this novel is not a story about Seoho who joined a music competition to become the number one musician. Nor do they use complicated lingo to explain the musical aspect. No. This novel is more about the story that was contained within the songs Seoho had made. What was the theme of these songs? What kind of feeling did he experience when he first created these songs? Every time he played his music, it was always followed by a flashback of his past life. His friends. His family. The sadness he felt when they went away. And the happiness that came when they finally visited. It's a story about the relationship he had built along the way. And it felt so, so bittersweet, I wanna cryyyyyy.

Spoiler

This novel definitely peaked when Seoho found his friends' tribute song that was gifted for him. For Brynner. This is the interpretation of their songs

Haydn: You helped those aspiring musicians so much. I am sure you will always be remembered for years to come.

Paganini: This is how you play this instrument. When we meet in heaven one day, I hope we can finally play music together

Schubert: Even when the death finally come for me, I will always be there to support you

Beethoven: You are my light in the time of my unending darkness

Mozart: Thank you for being my friend

See?! That was just so beautiful and bittersweet, dude. Those musicians from the old have distinct personalities in this novel. The author did a good job to made them sounded so human and not just celebrities to be fawn over. Their love for Brynner were so pure and sweet huhuuuu. For sure my most favorite arc 🤧

I think the only complain I got for this novel is the changes in genre for the side story. From family feels to romance. Then again, Seoho as Brynner was so pitiful, I don't blame this author if they want to give him happy ending this time around

Spoiler

Maybe because I kinda wished Seoho ended up with Sun-Ah instead of Chae-Bom. That's why I was a bit disappointed haha. This is so petty lol

Definitely recommended, even if you have to brute forced it and read it via google translate on Kakaopage. You will not regret it 😌👍 <<less

From fleshed out characters, solid world-building, plot twists and landmines, to wonderfully chosen pieces of classical music, none of these elements were lacking.

This is a story packing a lot of emotions, from regrets, to hopes and realizations, both about classical music and people. Narrative starts off relatively light, but somewhere in the middle, you will be too immersed to realize the depth of the story is deeper than expected. The author did well researching and writing details into world building. One could almost imagine MC being a real historical figure.

I love Count Brynner Friedrich and Il Perso. Such wonderful people!

I enjoyed listening to all the musical pieces played by the musicians within the novel, and I also enjoyed googling the bits of history involved in the background.

In short, this is a really good read. If there is any shortcoming, I guess it's that I wish it were longer. I don't mind reading more side stories, since I want to unload the emotions accumulated from binge reading.

I'm really satisfied with this novel. Unfortunately, I finished it via the raws but I'm glad a translator picked up this novel. I don't mind rereading the novel again once the translations are in full swing. <<less
