Park Geon-Woo is a professional bodyguard who leads the security team of one of the most well-respected congressmen in Korea, Kim Han-Gyo. However, after several twisted turns of fate, he is betrayed by the very man whom he respected the most.

As if fate would not stand for such a result, Geon-Woo is given an opportunity to return to the past to exact his revenge. But screw fate being on his side, he is not provided enough time to complete his return application form, resulting in him returning to the past in the body of a high school girl!

This is a gender bender story about a man who could be considered the epitome of manliness, turning into one of the most beautiful women in the country. He uses the new skill set that is forced onto him as best as he can to exact his revenge in a way that he had never expected to.

I really enjoy revenge novels so I had some hope for this one but it just doesn't seem to be able to tick the boxes for revenge novels.

One, the author has to get you to care about the MC and especially about how they are wronged. This one just couldn't manage it. I alternated between thinking the MC was an idiot and he deserved it, sometimes both simultaneously. I just never cared.

Two, even if the MC is a Mary Sue, there still has to be some tension. So far nada,... more>> nothing, none, the MC just does what they and no matter how s*upid or unlikely it works out for them.

Three, so far none of the characters or her/his/whatever interactions with them seem at all real. I just found myself going "Huh? Why? WTF?"

Four there was no feelin that the MC had to adapt or change due to their new circumstances. That may come from the fact that they are so overpowered reality is a suggestion not a constraint.

The best I can say about this novel currently is that it may get better later, but I am not holding my breath. <<less

My rating: 4.5/10

A fairly light-hearted novel about our protagonist's, Kang Raeun's, life as a girl as she plots revenge against Kim Hangyo, the one who killed her.

Though Kang Raeun starts as a high school girl, she eventually becomes a famous actress and successful businesswoman with many connections.

This novel scraped a rating of 4.5/10 (from me). The start of this novel was strong, and although it was rather relaxed with the protagonist being so overpowered, I found it very engaging. Eventually the pace slowed as it adopted a slice-of-life tone, and... more>> as it delved deeper into the protagonist's daily life as a famous actress, I couldn't help but lose interest at some points.

Since Kang Raeun has memories of the future as Park Geonwoo, she is quite overpowered and uses this knowledge to become successful. However, she is rather dense and very prideful, which is something that doesn't change over the course of the story.

I like how she consistently focused on her goal of revenge, but there were a few things I didn't completely agree with.

Spoiler

For example, spreading dating rumours with Jewoon to suppress Kim Hangyo's claims - I understand why she did it, but it made me somewhat uncomfortable because Jewoon and those around her didn't know that she did it on purpose.

[collapse]

There are mainly three people who have romantic feelings for Raeun:

Spoiler

Ji Hanseok, Jewoon, and Seo Yijun. My personal favourite is Seo Yijun followed by Ji Hanseok. As for Jewoon, I'd prefer if they stayed as friends lol...

[collapse]

There are a number of extra characters that are suddenly introduced to make Raeun stand out and are hardly mentioned again. Quite a few of them also have minor crushes on Raeun.

The ending of this novel is satisfactory, with Raeun completing her revenge and continuing her life as an actress and businesswoman. However, I found the last few arcs a little rushed.

Spoiler

Maybe because Kim Hankyo suffered psychological shock, his intelligence and abilities also deteriorated, and his end came quickly and miserably.

[collapse]

I would have liked for the author to elaborate on

Spoiler

the existence of ghosts in this novel.

Of course, this isn't the focus of the work, so it's not necessary and the story is still good without it. But there were a few elements in the setting of this work that I think could have been expanded on more.

As a whole, this is a relatively chill and light-hearted novel. Among other genderbender novels of this type, it's quite outstanding. The author repeatedly describes Raeun's mouth/lips as small though - I think this part could see some improvement. <<less

This is very fun and wholesome. You'll enjoy the family and friends. It reminds me of another novel that's Chinese about an assassin going back to begin a high school girl, but this one is rather focused on money moves and being an actress while establishing business. It made me laugh quite a lot. So give it a try

Story was alright, but quickly got boring after the MC kept denying the traits that he acquired from his new body (eg his beauty, talent for acting, body, etc). Just came off as him denying reality and got old fast.

MC is constantly doing things he does not want to do and then whining. 25% of the story I’ve read so far was him moping and regretting every decision he makes. This grumpy boring MC seriously drained my energy...

I ultimately dropped this after Rita was introduced. Hate how MC is... more>> meant to be a strong takes-no-bs character but cannot even prevent some random woman from repeatedly crossing the mc’s boundaries disrespectfully. I'm a lesbian myself, but Rita’s behaviour and Mc’s lack of reaction disappointed me deeply. <<less

The "slice of life" part is ok-ish, if one disregards cliche korean idiosyncrasy about beauties and crap.

Unfortunately, the plot building "revenge" part is truly ret*rded from the get go, and destroys more brain cells the further the story progresses. The shear s*upidity of it and the MC actions become a cringe eventually.

It's a gender bender story that has elements of returnee and revenge, now when you return you usually return to your own body or a parallel world where your parents didn't have you or something but not in this one, MC lands in the body of the most attractive woman in the world while his past self is out there doing what he did back then. So time travel plus self duplication.

It's frankly bizarre but aside from that is very entertaining, time travel in itself is a massive cheat code... more>> and having the body of an 11/10 supermodel also helps. The story is about supposedly about revenge but it truly shines when the MC Kang Rae-un is working in the entertainment industry... For how much rent free revenge lives in the mind of our protagonist is not a very engaging plotline because she always has to compromise on her personal life to get it done and I feel like MC and I have different priorities the political side is also not all that interesting feels like the author handled things too superficially.

Getting reincarnated as a woman was a complete experience for MC, there's some focus given to the Korean military that I plainly didn't care about but it gives her character, and most other characters in the novel are also interesting. Of course with MC being a bombshell at least on the outside there's plenty of suitors vying for her favor and obviously she's having none of it... At first. I was fairly puzzled she wouldn't just say she's into women but guess what? she's not I guess he was as*xual in his previous life, anyway there's a whole super slow burn sub-plotline where she decides what to do about her sexuality and if I can just give you a mild spoiler: don't expect anything out of this plotline

Spoiler

it's pretty much complete bait there's like 5 guys that actively pursue her and 0 girls she's involved with in any romantic capacity MC herself admits he had a crush on a what's currently a female colleague from her past life but by the way she interacts with women you'd think he used to be homos*xual

[collapse]

I'll be honest I'm a bit perplexed on what the author tried to do here I would have rather if we never addressed her sexuality instead of what we got.

In any case aside from some hiccups is a fun time and you might want to check it out if you like gender bender, actress protagonist and assertive FL <<less
