I Picked Up an Abandoned Villain in the Polar Region

I possessed an extra rabbit in a Rofan novel, so I decided to be the guardian of ‘Kyle Roden’, a black hearted man abandoned in the polar region.

Kyle tried to kill the male lead who took away the female lead he loved.

He was a wolf banished to the polar region and was the villain of the original novel.

“I’ll give you whatever you want, so take me home with you.”

However, when he went to the female lead, he was abandoned and eventually died at the hands of the male lead.

I couldn’t let my favorite end up like that.

“I will be your guardian, so come with me instead.”

I honestly didn’t intend to be the lover of Kyle.

It’s just about opening his eyes to the presence of other people not just the female protagonist.

The goal was to make him let go of his obsession with the female lead and deviate from the original ending.

But despite all my efforts, I couldn’t change his mind.

In the end, I gave up and tried to leave his side..

“You’re leaving me?”

There was something strange about Kyle’s appearance when he came to see me. He stood in front of me and spoke with cool eyes shining.

“You can’t lure someone and then get rid of them like this.”

Words cannot describe how much I adore this novel.

the ML- It's rare to see an ogVillain who is actually a villain and not just some poor misunderstood man who turns into a stereotypical yandere when he's healed by the MC. Kyle is much more complicated than that. And although you can see how bad parenting contributed to him turning to villainy, ultimately he was the one who made the choices. The unequal treatment from his parents made him into a selfish, arrogant prick with an inferiority complex to his younger... more>> brother who really did love him. It was his own choices and the way he treated others that caused his downfall and his banishment to the polar region at the very beginning of the story.

The Plot- I love how this novel so far is all about healing and character growth. The ML meets our cute stanning MC who is both literally and metaphorically a rabbit guide, like the one that guided the MC in Alice in Wonderland to a new world. Here, the rabbit MC guides the ML on an incredible adventure to home and of the soul. They meet all sorts of characters along the way. And it's unique how in this novel, the ML's growth and healing doesn't come from the MC alone, but rather a lot of his most heartwarming and important realizations came from other people he met along the way. The bitter wounds left by his past slowly heals as he realizes how things could have been different and how he can be a better person.

The World-building - this is totally my type of fantasy because the fantasy element is really highlighted in this work! The author created so many different beastmen species with their unique culture/traits and weaved in this world's unique magical folklores into the MC's adventure. Reading this was nostalgic cuz I loved reading animal novels and fantasy/adventure when I was young and this reminded me so much of the books. The world of this novel was truly magical.

To top this all off, the translation is solid and the translator churns out chapters so fast I love her ❤️. <<less

To start as you can see by my 5 star rating I LOVE this novel. Honestly I’d be hunting down the author to prepare for a manhwa adaptation if I didn’t realize how difficult it would be since they’re in animal form almost the entire first 70 ish chapters.

Onto actual descriptions. As the other reviewer stated Kyle is an actual villain role, don’t expect some misunderstood guy who falls on his face within 10 chapters to appease the female lead whom he falls for the second she shows affection. That... more>> isn’t his character. He uses Brody to his convenience and mentally denies any wrongs on his part in the beginning. He regards her as an insane rabbit and kicks her away, threatening to kill her at every annoyance. This only changes once he lets down his walls a bit and realizes her kindness is true with no ulterior motive. You might become somewhat frustrated by his rudeness toward Brody who in just the first few chapters saves him repeatedly, but try and be like our kind rabbit Brody and put up with him, I don’t think he’ll ever be some lovesick man that bends backword for his wife but he goes through gradual character development and isn’t too much of a jerk.

Onto Brody, our fearless (and kinda h**ny) rabbit! As mentioned, she is all up in Kyle’s business. You kinda get where Kyle is coming from is you think about how long he put up with her endless flirtation and teasing with no escape because she’s his guide. If you’re worried she’ll become a quivering tearful mess when the big bad wolf talks smack to her have no fear. Even when the other wolves in the later chapters hesitate to speak to him in fear of his short fuse, she from the beginning is unconcerned about telling it to him how it is. She’s like a therapist in the way she’ll brutally tell his he’s being an ass. That being said despite her arguing with him and grumbling about him kicking her around and threatening him when it comes to it she sacrifices her comfort and safety constantly for him. Some examples include: starving herself because they have to be by the sea for Kyle to get food but this way she wouldn’t have her food, turning back time so that a starving Kyle can retry at catching a bird despite knowing the cost will be passing out for three days and that Kyle is likely to let her freeze, finally in a forest cursed to harm travelers with the equivalent of an extreme allergic reaction she sneaks the only medicine to Kyle.

Her sacrificial spirit is also not limited to Kyle, though I won’t go too into it because it’s spoilers. All I can say is that these experiences heavily impact Kyle’s character development in a beautifully written way.

Finally onto their relationship. It starts with Kyle being incredibly hateful, brewing in his regrets and anger towards those who caused this, which he takes out on Brody. Brody at the time is poking all his buttons with clinging and flirtation which is done partly because of her nature as a rabbit and partly

because she hopes to make him realize their are other women and prevent his doom. Eventually Kyle becomes more lenient towards her behaviors especially in her times of need. In the middle of the story in the forest we see the ultimate test of all relationships where Kyle finally pulls his head out of his ass and realizes that Brody is the only one who genuinely cares for him and that he has given her no reason to be so kind to him. He finally starts acting like a truly decent person after that; also taking the pink tinted sunglasses off when referring to his love of Zelda. Now I’m jumping to after they battle the invaders at the festival and stay there for the sake of rebuilding. Kyle has completely realized he doesn’t care about Zelda. He however has only barely realized that he feels something different for Brody and can’t identify it. On the other hand after arriving Brody seems to have unconsciously realized that now that they’re here her “seductions” will have no affect and that Kyle will either still be set on Zelda and meet his doom or has already let go. She instead focuses on the fact she’s noticed Kyle’s subconscious longing for family and is set on making that come true. Kyle on the other hand has a bit of anxiety over her unintentional distancing because she stopped clinging to him in her effort of seducing him.

This is where it’s gotten to at the moment. I don’t expect it to actually take them all that long to figure out their feelings at the current pace.

Also SHOUT OUT TO THE TRANSLATOR. This is one of the most perfectly translated works I’ve ever read. I would fully believe if somebody told me this was an originally English book. I can’t wait for more! <<less

This is easily the best novel on this site that I've found. Everyone feels like real, believable people, even the very righteous, idealist (and shameless) FL will have moments of doubt, but knows not to stray from her nature. On the otherhand, the ML is very frustrating, especially in the early chapters, but he's a great depiction of how difficult it is to let go of the past and try to open up to a future. Regardless, their dynamic is so cute and lovely and adorable.

On the downside, the ending... more>> felt more than rushed, but the pacing of their adventure and hardships beforehand makes up for it a million times. Seriously, if I lost my memory, I hope I remember only the title of this novel just to read it for the first time again. As in, this feels like a once in a lifetime read. <<less

Doubtless 5 star. Finally found a LEGITIMATE book on this website with a planned story and incredible writing.

SURPRISE! A ML with actual personality! Not some just FL worship machine and feels like an actual person! Kyle is unique. He is a villain and a sh*t person alright but he has his reasons. It's was fun reading his bad behavior while knowing that he's gonna crash and regret it SO BAD.

His development:

Spoiler

By chapter 15 he gets just a little bit softer which is a preferable level.

After chapter 25 Kyle is being jealous and protective without even noticing himself.

And by chapter 50 he knows he is a sh*t person.

After chapter 80, he is an absolute lover-boy.

IT'S WORTH THE WAIT, I PROMISE! Before that point, FL carries the story on her shoulders. She is super cute and uplifting. I can't find a single thing to be annoyed about.

I nearly cried near the ending... I didn't want to close this book.😭

Even though the last witch arc was a bit too much and the pacing was off... I LOVE THIS BOOK AS A WHOLE.

PLEASE READ IT! <<less

Another gem has been found!! Finding good quality novels are so hard to find. I'm just looking for a good read not expecting to find a heart-warming, plot-driven, and characters with personalities! The pacing is just right in the middle though at some point nearing the end it seems rushed but still really good enough. I want to prolong the adventures as it was narrated so well. The build up romance is not a typical get-go you'll find in any other. The character dev most specifically with the ML is... more>> a chef kiss, it is not overnighted and not irritating.

Though there are some plot holes like the MC background prior transmigrating and the world settings which just being grazed on but its still captivating and jusg focused on their adventure.

Its been a while since I read a good book, and the translation is also good. ❤️❤️❤️ <<less

i was stalking this novel since around chapter 30-40 so when I see this was completed I read and honestly... wow

it was a good journey. I think most of my positive thoughts about this novel come from MC. she’s naive but strong. she’s kind and she’s unbelievable strong in it. her sincerity just hits different. you can see how despite overcoming truly terrifying situations she stays true to herself. she learns but never abandoned her nature.

first half of the novel I hated ml. he was just rude. but from 80+... more>> chapter he started to change and became decent man. I don’t think that this is love what changed him. I think fls love just opened his eyes that world wasn’t that gray and unwelcoming. it was his efforts to see and understand people around him. he was willing to learn to love this world despite his scars. just like FL loved him despite his rudeness.

world building was kinda lacking. but I wasn’t reading this for world building. many questions wasn’t answered.

ending was rushed and I wanted to see more of their journey but it was just 2 sentences.

overall it’s a good romance novel with self growth of characters. I recommend this to everyone who just want a heartwarming romance. definitely made it to my favorite kr novels. <<less

Best novel ever. You got fluffy, cute, idealist FL. A strong independent cutie who knows what she wants and still retains her naivety. You'd understand why everyone would love her. All the readers would fawn over her too.

Even our grumpy villain-like ML. With the power of love from FL he got the best character growth.

At first I'm not too sympathetic to the ML like our FL thoughts.
Spoiler

growing up without love from the parents could either make u a villain or a successful independent lone wolf.

[collapse]
Although later chaps you'd see why ML turns out the way he is.

This is a Grumpy tsun X Sunshine vibe. 10/10 always love them

I just want to say that if you're doubting if you should read this, then don't..

If I can give 100/10 stars I would do it..

The story has been a rollercoaster of emotion, you'll get mad with the ML at first, like hell I cursed him at the beginning. But damn the character development because of the FL, I just.. If I can I want go erase my memory and read this again, it is so freaking good..

And the translation is 💯, so good.

So yeha just read it 🤧💖

This webnovel bucks a lot of normal character tropes.

ML isn't an all-powerful, OP dude for once, and he is very, VERY flawed, but works hard for his redemption.

Spoiler

Even when he returns to his homeland, he's not immediately the most eligible bachelor who's immediately powerful and rich again. In fact he's got hella family problems, and I LIKE that he flat up leaves them. You can live and let live without forgiving; his family sucks, so I'm glad FL knew when to stop pushing for reconciliation.

Also, ML's not like a secret soft boi like a lot of OG"villains." He's a true blue villainous jerk until maybe a quarter way into his redemption

[collapse]

FL isn't all-forgiving even though she is sweet, kind, and trusting.

Neither get stronger or richer; they just get closer, and ML undergoes MAJOR character development

Spoiler

Biggest surprise is that FL and ML are NOT the main characters/participants for the major, final fight with the black magic witch, which is a bold and WILD decision, but also one that makes logical sense, all things (stats) considerer

[collapse]

The chapter before the epilogue seemed a little rushed
Spoiler

Was the "war" summary necessary for a place that was supposed go be uninhabited?

[collapse]
But it's still a strong webnovel overall if you lookong for something that's a bit on the tougher side
