Dong Zai became an egg, or rather, a mermaid egg.

He finally broke out the egg, but he didn’t have sharp claws, sharp teeth, and the tail was soft and squishy. He was cute and delicate, didn’t look like a ferocious mermaid at all.

Dong Zai’s fathers are very anxious. What to do if the cub is so weak?
The fathers decided to find a strong partner for Dong Zai.

One day, the lost Dong Zai picked up a cool little mermaid.

Later, the cool little mermaid grew up.
The fathers pointed at him and said to Dong Zai, “Zai Zai, this is your foster husband.”

I'm seriously surprised there aren't any more reviews for this novel! But I think I understand why the description sounds a bit underwhelming. But after actually reading this novel I have to add it to my FAVORITES! Especially among other mermaid/merman BL!

This was so damn cute! The fluff! The cubs! The cuteness unique to mermaid BL! Beautiful characters!

The MC came back in time and hatched form his egg. In his previous life he only hatched in modern times and was the only mermaid in existence and was caught by his senior brother's research institute and almost r*ped and forced to mate etc. The flashbacks are tragic. So he went through all those millions of years back and finally met his parents, his brother ML, and all his friends. He finally got to live a happy life along with the people who h belonged with.

The storyline starts with the MC breaking out of the egg and he's very fragile and much smaller than other mermaids (as big as a finger and then he grows up to be the size of a palm then am arm then a toddler, a teenager, adult, and then super strong adult).

The ML was already toddler size when they met. So they grew up together and it was a natural slow love but always present. The MC didn't realize he was in love with the ML though so he saw him as a brother up until he turned into an adult. Then they mated and had their own cub. (His pregnancy only lasts for 2 or 3 chapters though and then he lays an egg). The MC has powers (though it's not his it's Poseidon's) he can control the water and weather, control the sea life and pressure them, he can see far away and take different forms. He helps people in his dreams and can heal others.

The storyline is what I imagine would happen before the interstellar era because it also explains at the end that the mermaids and orcs developed technology foresaw the mass extinctions and left he planet. Kind of wish the world would've developed an orc and mermaid ruling alongside the humans kind of setting but it didn't. Plus because of the MCs tragic past that might just be a good thing. Another reason this gives interstellar vibes is because the bugs remind me of Zerg. Overall the backstory makes me think the author is really smart.

I like he unique patterns of their bloodlines. If this ever for illustrated the characters would look super beautiful or damn hot.

This is very much a cub raising type of novel because the MC is raised by his parents and the ML. And then they have their own cub too. So it's very fluffy and satisfying.

Overall an easy binge read. I definitely recommend it.

The extras:

1 about after the natural disaster

2 the relationship between uncle ai Le (?ari) and yuan xi

3 the relationship between the MCs parents and how they got together plus the fight his dad had while he was pregnant, and how they waited for the egg. His dad also sensed that he had regained a long lost treasure when the MC hatched

4 Poseidon waking up to the human world after the mermaids and orcs left (wish the author could've given him a romance or something here.) <<less

This is actually one of my fav mermaid novels. I read the mtl ver so I'm glad someone picked this up.

It started off cute but it'd get a bit more serious.

You like cute cubs? This novel has a lot of cute cubs!

You don't like weak mc? Don't worry! MC will grow stronger!!

You don't like slowburn? Then it's just right, ML grows up together with the MC!

Overall the story is cute and addicting.

Cute cubs and sweet couples? Nom nom nom
