It's hard for me to understand the first chapter. In fact, I'm still confused but there are a couple things clear to me.

The melancholic narration of the female protagonist drew me into her world. The way she was being ironic -or is it just my interpretation?- when she finally met the person who abandoned her. The perso who left her and her mother with a harsh life. The source of her pain and loneliness.

I remember being silent when she remembered about Xiao and told her step brother about how one... more>> should choose his dreams, then she narrated about Xiao's dream and how dependent Xiao -I forget his name- was towards her other friend, Ouyang and that she knew how burdened Ouyang because of it.

Ah, about the thing I can't understand. It's about her and her male friends. Because it feels like the bondage btween her and a boy is more than just that, just like how she narrated that they aren't boyfriend and girlfriend, but at the same time there's something going on between the three of them. Or... is it just me being dense?

One thing that I still can't understand, did Ouyang and her love each other? But they knew that they were impossible thus the gave up on each other?
