Hailey, the Duke’s daughter, who threw herself into the water before the wedding with the king, was possessed by her.

I'm a bit surprised by the lack of reviews here.

The plot is built well, considering what's actually happening in this story, I have to give it to the author for making it feel lighter than how it could be.

Treason and the supernatural aren't themes I would call light, after all.

... more>> I fail to see where it gets boring for the other reviewer. There wasn't any filler, things are there tied to the situations at hand or to advance the romance between the ML and fl.

In terms of characterization, there isn't a big cast of extras. They fit mostly in the support category. That said, they aren't flat and help when it's needed.

The actual antagonists that are causing all the problems don't appear except once, which I found interesting.

I think the FL was quite likeable. She isn't overpowered, but has a wide set of abilities. That makes her good at managing whatever happens, even if she feels negative emotions in the process. Her realization of the weight of her decision to love and protect the ML and what comes with that is something I enjoyed reading.

The ml, in sum, is a green flag. I don't like the jealousy and overprotective attitude. But, to be honest, I can understand the latter. Nobody likes to see a loved one in danger or hurt, and she was, sort of continuously, with or without his knowledge.

As romance aspect goes... the interactions and the banter especially were cute. The discussions were understandable. There isn't detail about the smut part but there was for the cuddling. I felt that was a bit unusual, it wasn't bad though.

The art is pretty and I think it fits.

The translation I read was really nice.

TLDR: Good balance between the stated main tags. It was enjoyable. It had some unusual details that made it more interesting. <<less

This is a good series to read. It is a good mix of romance, comedy, drama, and supernatural/fantasy.

It takes the common romance-fantasy trope of a modern FL being reincarnated into a Regency Era European-type setting and gives it a supernatural/exorcist twist.

Do not expect a masterpiece of writing when you pick this up. While not fantastic, it is still a solidly good series to read to the end. It can get a little boring near the middle, but it is still worth reading if it catches your interest.

If I could give it a 1000, I will, but there's only 5 stars to rate, so......

This novel has such an interesting theme about spirits and shamanic activities. And AHHHH I really love reading about the interactions between them! Their daily small talk, their bickerings. And pillow talks omg everything’s just so sweet in my eyes. Seriously these heartwarming convos are the best. I honestly can’t stop smiling. I smiled and I cried all while reading this.

I think the FL is gloomy, but warm at heart. I love both the... more>> FL and ML. Their personality really really suited each other’s. The characters are just so well written- even with their flaws, that they felt realistic and alive as characters.

It was all written so beautifully, words by words. Some are poetic but I really admire those beautiful writings that do not fail to relay the depth of the meaning behind those words, and the feeling relayed behind those words. And such things can’t happen without being perfectly translated so I am so so grateful for the author and the translation team for this beautiful novel.

And this novel is not smut. No smutty scenes. Just, there are some adult topics and activities here, implicitly explained.

Anyway, I just love love loveeee this novel! An unexpected hidden gem I found in a while. Totally didn't expect this to be a gem before I started reading. I'd say I recommend this! <<less

This novel.... after all of the slop I have read this was such a refreshing read!! This is my first review ever and this novel just deserves a lot of praise.

First of all thank you to the translators who have brought this wonderful novel to us! I am more than grateful to have read something so beautiful!

Although it has the common tropes, the content itself was truly unique and beautiful. It really kept me going and I felt that every second I spent reading this novel was worth it.

The FL is so selfless and strong plus wonderfully written. She’s a girl that stands on her business for sure. Although she’s sometimes reckless I think it just showcases one of her best qualities. She’s most definitely stronger than the ML which I LOVE. Usually there are damsel and distresses but my girl ain’t.

The ML is such a green flag. At first he was an ass but his character’s development is such *chef’s kiss*. He’s the greenest green flag (although sometimes he’s too much but it’s just because he loves too much (to the point of smothering I fear lmao)). But even then he’s just a refreshing ML in terms of his personality. I got so sick of the usual blank-paged personality that most MLs have but his personality is top notch. It was like he was real in a sense even if he’s fictional. His love language is definitely words of affirmation I can tell you that.

The side characters are pretty good too I loved whenever they were included.

Their relationship is one of the best ever. I have read tons and when I mean tons, tons of romance books and I can day they are the top couples. Their banter is just too good and funny. I had to literally giggle and not just laugh inside my head. Their chemistry, off the roof. Even when they got together I didn’t get sick of it. Sometimes I feel like an intruder reading their intimate time. it’s just absolute fluff. Their dynamics, just everything is too good.

if you want something refreshing and unique please read this and support the translators. It’s truly something worth reading. <<less

I love their relationship they are sooo sweet for each other! I highly recommend as someone who doesn't like to read many historical romance novels/manwhas. It's a bit simplistic, but I like that best. It has the main plot-line, where the MC is trying to protect the ML from the vengeful spirits and why they follow him, and of course some heavier plot happens at the end, but for the most part it's the MC and ML slowly getting together. I truly adore this story. Did not expect it to become my Roman Empire, but I think about it all the time lmao. I think I've read it like 4 times; the manhwa is also a really great adaptation.

It's a love story, yeah, but it's really Yijae/Lee Jae's story, and seeing her growth as a person, overcoming immense trauma is just so beautiful. I'll probably come update this review the next time I reread it, but it's such an amazing portrayal of someone's inner world and growth and I love how character-focused it is. The plot/intrigue is important, of course, and it does drive the story forward, but the storytelling focuses on the MC and ML changing and growing together, which is both refreshing and adorable. They're both so lonely and so good as people, and so good to each other and UGH MY HEART. Get you a partner who loves and respects you like Roderick, get you a partner who loves and respects and grows stronger for the sake of a life together like Yijae! (Don't get me wrong, this isn't a "I'm only changing for love" kind of story; those are cute, but this is deeper than that. Like the fact that Yijae accepts that she loves Roderick, that she changes and grows out of love for her husband is, in itself, huge for her.)

Nothing but love for them <3

The highlight of the story is the interaction between Roderick and Lee-jae. Their banter is hilarious to read, and they cling to each other like there's no tomorrow.

I didn't expect the climax to be so... poetic, there is no doubt that this is a top tier story. More people absolutely need to read this story, because the heartfelt emotions this story brings is so aptly put.

My heart breaks for Ori!Hailey, she didn't deserve the life that she had, and I cried when she wrote a letter for Lee-jae (the one in her vision that may bring hope to this timeline) without even knowing anything about Lee-jae. I hope Hailey gets to have a wonderful family in her next life, and to have free reign over her life.
