Su Wan transmigrated into the abandoned daughter of a marquis family, marrying a poor scholar in place of her younger step-sister, becoming the subject of ridicule by everyone.

Little did she know that her younger brother was the empress’s legitimate son. After acknowledging his roots, he said, “Sister-in-law, whatever you desire, I will bring it to you.”

The man she casually saved turned out to be a grand general, said, “Sister Su, whoever bullies you, I will crush them into pieces with my elite troops.”

Even the top-notch mother-in-law said, “Wan Wan, men just need a good beating when they misbehave, don’t spoil them.”

Her sickly husband, who would hold great power in the future, was domineering and forceful, said, “Ah Wan, you are mine. Everything of yours, I will provide.”

Su Wan was favored by various powerful figures, never expecting that her true identity was even more astonishing.

Hmm I'm not sure if I'll continue reading this. I like a good mary sue novel but the MC is too much mary sue that it starts to affect the story and logic for me. So original MC is a terrible and pitiful person. Her father, a noble Marquis, remarries a stepmother who brings a girl from her previous marriage. The girl, Su Mixue, is a commoner but is also the heroine of the novel MC transmigrates into. Original MC is supposed to marry a prince but her father loves... more>> Su Mixue so much that he switched MC's marriage so she is forced to marry Su Mixue's fiancée, Gu Huaizhi, and Su Mixue marries the prince. Gu Huaizhi (ML) lives in a remote village and he's just described as a poor scholar who is sickly and needs medicine year round. Original MC is so resentful because she was a proud and noble girl who was forced to marry into a poor and useless household. She poisons Gu Huaizhi's medicine, sold off his younger brother and sister to a brothel, and caused his mother to die of heartache. She later flees the poor village and try to get back what she lost from Su Mixue but ultimately fails cause she's not the protagonist. She ends up dying terribly in the hands of Gu Huaizhi who became the book's main villain.

So MC transmigrate right before ML drinks the poisoned medicine, prevents him from drinking it, the kidnappers come to the door demanding the younger brother/sister duo since they already paid a deposit to MC, and MC ends up scaring them away with her profound martial arts skills. Her attempt to sell the children is forgiven after the younger sister lies and said she wanted MC to sell her as a maid to a wealthy family so she was the one who asked MC in the first place and MC was just tricked by the seller. Her mother-in-law forgave MC so much that she hands over the rest of the family wealth to MC to do whatever she wanted with it. At this point, MC had married into the family for about a month and barely spoke to anyone, thus, explaining why they didn't know she knew martial arts. Her younger sister-in-law is described as wanting a bigger sister so much that she is willing to lie for MC even though MC had previously been violent towards her. MIL is described as a well-known shrewd but cares a lot about MC, the reasoning being that MIL was tortured by her own MIL before and vowed to never do the same thing to her future daughter-in-law. Ok, I can kinda see why they seem to be fans of MC with this kind of logic. But then everything kinda falls apart.

Spoiler

Not only is MC insanely good at martial arts but is also a genius doctor and amazing cook. She walks into town to sell some food and ends up saving a master of the school's dean. Her skills were so amazing that the doctor who she helped wanted to immediately hire her and give her half of his shop. Then she ends up cooking at a restaurant who is losing business because a newer restaurant had recently opened up next to it and her cooking was so good that she sold the recipe to the owner. The owner becomes so impressed later that he also wanted her to work for him and promised her a part of his shop as well. Then the person she randomly saved on the mountains, Zhao Wei, is actually a general who she ends up selling wound medicine to. He's so interested in her that he randomly comes around in order to see her despite knowing she's married. The chapter where I stopped is when he appears in front of her in town, says he has something urgent to do with her, throws her on a horse, and instead of getting mad, she gives him a provocative look and races him. And this is all done in front of her husband. Then when she wins the race, she says she forgives his offense because he raced her. Then he calls her Miss Su and she's like, wait, you can't call me that you need to call me Mrs. Hu cause I'm married and it's not appropriate.... so..... when you were flirting on horseback with another single man in front of your husband then it wasn't inappropriate? You've been acting like a single girl this whole time, even the cook at the restaurant thought you were single cause you don't put your hair up in a married woman's bun.... like literally, the author will talk about something and bam, that something happened but in a good way for the MC. She needs money? Bam, here's a doctor shop, restaurant, and rouge shop. Apparently the people she meets are so incompetent at their jobs that they need her to come save them. The doctor is described as being mediocre at medicine yet he managed to open a shop for 10 years and only when he met her can he suddenly not survive and even said without her no one will come to him, a mediocre doctor, and sooner or later he'll need to close down. The restaurant owner is so desperate and on the verge of closing down shop when he met her and suddenly offers to give her a share of his shop as well just so she can cook dishes and train a few chefs for him after only seeing her twice. Heck, she even wanted to rent out the rouge shop next to the doctor's shop so she can sell medicinal meals but the guy quoted such a high price that she went and created a new beauty product and said she'll trade his shop for it and the guy happily gives him the shop with his own two hands. But oh, she'll give him bonuses if he sells her products for her since she's such a kind owner when they haven't even set up a contract yet..... it's like everyone becomes an idiot when they meet her and forgets that they're actually the owner of so and so shop and she's literally a stranger at the moment but they just trust her so much. Also the ML randomly has secret subordinates who appears and send messages and control things behind the scene... yet in the original novel, ML managed to get poisoned and his brother and sister managed to get sold to a brothel, and his mother ends up dead with the original MC being free to go back to the capital and there was no mentioned of these subordinates. I've seen authors write in a way that benefits the MC but the way this author does it feels painful to read.

[collapse]

In conclusion, it's an ok read if you don't mind brain-numbing coincidences and everything falling in the lap of a very mary-sue MC. The concept isn't super interesting or different from other novels and other novels have done it much better than this one so far. I only read a few chapters so maybe it gets better but I'm already turned off by what I've read so I'll personally drop it. <<less
