Readers should know what they are getting into before starting this novel. This novel is unlike other regression/second chance novel. Although the description and the setup sound like it will be overpower MC, the author put a lot of shackles on him so that he remains weak and will grow strong only when the author needs it, in order to show how MC struggles in significant fights.

It feels more like unoriginal martial/magical novels with MC's victory due to either luck, strength or just because he is protagonist. Don't get me... more>> wrong. There are many calculated moves, planning and application of future knowledge in the novel. But often it won't feel like usual regressor OP MCs who plan or are always in control of everything and are often three steps ahead of others, especially during significant fights. Readers who are tired of OP MC might like it but even then there are still other shortcoming for struggling MCs in this type of novel. It seems like the author wants to appeal to as many different types of crowd as possible but it might end up pleasing none.

MC will regress to a point where majority of the world experience awakening but MC is not really ahead of others as there will already be a huge secretive awakened organization that will put newcomers like MC into not-so-gentle training camps.

Another thing is that the motivation or the driving force that propels MC is not very relatable unlike other regression novels. It doesn't feel strong enough. Moreover, the restrictions put on MC to weaken him don't make much sense either.

Spoiler

He will accumulate karma if he steals stat/ability/destinies from dead bodies regardless of whether they were killed by him or not. And something bad will happen if too much karma is accumulated. This only gives author excuse to hold MC from getting too strong and since the consequence is vague, MC will be made strong regardless whenever author needs him to. As a result, MC's varying strength and victories often feels like due to deus ex machina while missing a good chance to use regression as an excuse. The restrictions also feel illogical. In adventuring worlds, karma should not accumulate from looting owner-less things from dead bodies if they are not killed by MC. Otherwise Buddha would have accumulated tons of karma from eating already dead (cooked) meat regardless of how animal was killed with whichever intention. Plus there are good and bad karma but I digress.

[collapse]

Furthermore, due to the above spoiler reason, MC will choose to spare enemies in many cases or wait for them to be killed by others. It can cause frustration to some readers.

And finally, all the above points (restricted powering, frustrating MC/decision, seemingly weak motivation, illogical systems, misuse of regression) can be tolerable and even enjoyable if the author is skilled enough but this story's pacing is way off. There is hardly any world building or story development. Even at chapter 85+, MC and co are still in training camps. It seems too long for one 'training camp' story arc. Description about how the world reacts to awakening day, the power reshuffling, the competition among countries, the loved ones, the society, the new economy, etc would have been much more interesting. Too much focus on 'trees' and not enough on 'forest'.

In short, this novel feels like jumping regression bandwagon without its attractive features. <<less

I hated it. First thing I hate is the main reading site. ugh.... its so irritating you cant just "go next" to the next chapter in some of their chapters.

Second thing I hate is about the MC. ugh, I'm so done with him, like if you got enemies that have hostility towards you just kill them. why does he still let them live multiple times. this type of characters is one of the most infuriating.

Lastly about the pov. I hate it, I mean I'm reading about the MC, I dont... more>> wanna know about an extra. if they are gonna do that, NU should have put "multiple pov" in the tags so I didn't waste my time reading this <<less

This is an exciting story that I'm surprised hasn't seen more attention. Although the MC is morally grey he has good motivations for his actions. The story is filled with camaraderie and exciting action scenes. Highly recommend.

It is a good series but.... a little too much emphasis on the MC and not enough development on the side/supporting characters

Interesting world building/magic system though.
