“You can’t meet anyone else after leaving me.”

An arrogant remark echoed in her ears. Jiwook lightly grabbed her chin and lowered his gaze.

“So stop the pointless arguments. It’s tiring, you know.”

He made it sound like it was a real nuisance. Seowoo pushed his hand away and spoke up.

“I hope you won’t ruin even the good feelings we had until now. I don’t want to be left with just terrible memories.”

Even the memories of their passionate and thrilling twenties felt like fading away completely. She hoped desperately that it wouldn’t be so, because it would be so sad for her to lose those memories when she was barely surviving on them.

“Are you trying to erase those memories?”
“No. It’s even more dreadful this way. Don’t come back anymore. This is not a request, it’s a warning.”

Her heart sank. Despite seeing her struggling not to collapse, he remained unmoved.

“Seowoo.”

Jiwook’s piercing gaze landed on her.

“We had two children between us.”

In the end, Seowoo’s face completely crumbled.
Children. Miscarriage. Jiwook spoke the words, knowing how incredibly heartbreaking they were to her.

“You were pregnant with my child twice, I’m not letting you go.”
“How… how can you say such a thing now?”

His painful words turned into daggers, stabbing into her heart. Jiwook gently wrapped his hands around her trembling shoulders and calmly spoke.

“So you change your mind first. Before I break it and bring you to my side.”

I'd rate the novel 4 stars, with a slight deduction. The beginning was quite dull, and it only started to get interesting from volume 2 onwards. That said, I found his behavior absolutely frustrating. I honestly have no idea why he acted the way he did and then had the nerve to wonder, "Where did it all go wrong?"

I mean, he came back, met her at that dinner, and instead of having an honest and open conversation, he just slept with her—expecting her to be experienced because she had a... more>> sexy outfit on?, which made no sense. Let's not forget he was the one who left and never reached out.

And then after the marriage, even though he knew what his mother was like, he still left his wife alone and worked the whole time? Seriously, what the hell. Later, he finally realized what his mother had done—but by then it was too late. Honestly, she was the worst mother ever—a complete lunatic.

He did try everything to get a last chance, and yes, he suffered deeply—but in my opinion, it was totally deserved. Well, at the end all was good but it was a very long way.

Also, I've rarely read a novel with so many misunderstandings and miscommunications. It was honestly next level—nothing I've come across in other novels so far can compare. <<less
