Please don't listen to these harsh reviews. I almost made a mistake of dropping this novel because I thought this novel has male lead who is jerk and an as*hole to the female lead for no reasons or he treats her liker shit, but it is completely different from that. -I am already 60 chapters in and you can see that how much male lead cares for her and how he totally treats her differently from the rest of the people in the mansion judging by the male lead's personality he always make exceptions when it comes to her. The only situations when he gets little abusive (and by little I mean he sometimes pinches her bu*t and all) is when she makes him jealous unintentionally because she takes denseness to whole new level. She will always try to provoke him even though she did it indirectly and there's also where one situation where she completely misunderstood him and blamed him for killing her pet and to my surprise, he didn't do anything just stand there listening to her yappering.

-To me, I found protagonist's behavior more frustrating than the male lead's possessive nature because there is one thing that you will notice easily male lead treats her like a princess most of the time (he even spoon feeds her) except only when she makes him jealous by mentioning her step brother's name or does other acts intentionally to anger him even though the male lead mentions this so many time not to talk other guys she still does it though. She is just so dense that she fails to notice his jealousy for her and blames the male lead that he hates her that is why he acts like this.

-Now, let me talk about why everyone hate this novel
Spoiler

It is because Male lead r*pes female protagonist out of jealousy, but it was partially her fault too (not that I am implying that r*pe is justified here). The thing is the male lead is a super jealous guy regarding protagonist's step brother, He told her again and again not to meet or lie to her, but she does it again and again unintentionally, then one day she comes back home with kisses mark all over her body because her step brother almost r*ped her, but the Male lead thought she cheated on him behind his back because she was lying about it AGAIN. So, it is obvious MC was furious on her, how would you feel if your wife went behind your back and come home like this. Did I mention she forgave her step brother right away for almost raping her, WTF? Well, then again her character feels like she is still 3 years old like in the start of the novel. That is my main problem, she never had any character or personality development through out the series, she remained like this till the end

[collapse]

-Anyway, the main leads have major communication problem and let me remind you again. I re-edited this review just to mention this that MC isn't jerk or treat her like sh*t (except at the start of the novel which lasts for just few chapters). MC treats her like princess, he is actually almost perfect besides his extreme jealousy problem which is the only reason why they fight 100% of the time because the female protagonist is just so dummy and dense that she never realize Male lead's feelings and his jealousy until the end, and Did I mention the female protagonist misunderstood male lead TWO TIMES! First, like I mentioned above she thought he is the one who killed her pet, but he didn't and the 2nd time she mistook him for his brother and thought he is cheating on her with another woman, WTH? I was so furious at that time that she can't even properly differentiate between the guy that she loves and the guy who is his brother and then guess what she did after that? She ran-away with her female friend to freaking Las-vegas. I see here everyone hating on the male lead and cursing him, but no one is saying anything about the naive and dense female protagonist who is the 2nd main reason why the male lead is forced into the corner every time and the first reason is obviously her step brother. All I have to say is that don't listen to these hateful reviews, read it and decide it on your own and please try to read it from the male lead's point of view too.

Read up to ch32.

Heroine is an 18 year old that acts like she’s 8. I’m actually doing 8 year olds a disservice by making that comparison. There’s a limit to explaining everything away with a girl being “sheltered.” You’d be stretching it if it took place in ancient times. There’s no excuse for this in a modern setting without some kind of age regression plot. She is dumb, naive, and immature.

And then there’s the guy. In the chapters I’ve read so far, he’s just basically a douche. Typical guy treats... more>> girl like an object. (I lament how common this is.)

Look, I’ve enjoyed characters with these traits before and I actually enjoy stories with obsession themes too, but the execution of it in this novel is poor. <<less

There's something fundamentally wrong about how the author views relationships and men in general, leading to a lot of physically, emotional and s*xual abuse for the female lead. While the story itself comes off as a second rate Twilight (which in itself already sets a very low bar) and there is really only one type of personality for each gender - cold and abusive male x naive and s*upid female. 1/10

Btw is the author also called Yuan Gun Gun or did someone just randomly fill it in?

For anyone who is scared of reading this because of the negative reviews, I suggest you at least attempt it. People have different opinions, different likes and dislikes. I personally like this story because the Male lead’s love for Yuan Gun Gun is so strong it comes close to obsession. Maybe I am weird to like that kind of love but everyone has their own taste.

Has to be one of the worst novels I've read on here.

First off, I'm sorry, but the main character isn't naive it sheltered or even somewhat s*upid. She has a mental disability. At first it was somewhat cute and fluffy, but then I slowly realized this went beyond the borders of naive, straight into mental ret*rdation territory. The way she continues to act even after years of living in the normal unsheltered world as the main lead's secretary proves that she doesn't have the capacity to... more>> learn how to behave like an adult.

This becomes absolutely horrifying when the Male lead r*pes her and constantly beats her, locking her in the house and not letting her speak to any of her family members. Something is wrong with the author's brain to think this is in any way romantic. It's disgusting.

Speaking of the author's subpar writing ability, he/ she seems to think we should instantly know every character that suddenly shows up the story. The way they're written makes it seem like you've missed their introduction chapters. I still have no idea who long liu bao and her two husbands really are. Just that they've somehow become friends with gun gun and che. It feels like some epilogue chapters in certain novels where a there's a cross over with characters from another novel the same author has written. Heck, even long liu bao's mother is suddenly in a chapter, her full name being used as if she's been mentioned in every chapter before now.

Lastly, the general writing of the novel itself is terrible. It's yet again one of those novels that's written like a script, with almost zero descriptive sentences that actually describes whatever is happening, instead just simply stating what happens, sentence after sentence, as if someone was standing by and was taking down a log of events for someone to read later.

TL:DR if you dislike the idea of a mentally disabled person being r*ped, beaten, and all around being treated like a prisoner or s*ave, and dislike purely terrible writing, steer clear of this novel. Don't let the first 20 or so chapters give you the wrong idea that this is some fluffy love story. It's sickening.

Oh, and suddenly the Male lead who is a were wolf I guess (this is brought up like three times in the entire novel, other wise completely ignored) can levitate objects with his mind, as can his newly born son... what?? Such a directionless poor excuse for a novel.

Update: just finished the novel, and as per expectations, it remained disgusting. You'd think at the end of the novel, the Male lead would realize his mistake of treating her like absolute garbage and like a s*ave, but he doesn't change in the slightest bit. If he wants her to eat a ridiculous amount of food, she has to, regardless of her repeatedly telling him she didn't want to. She wants her one year old son to sit in her lap during a meal? Too bad. He says no. Absolutely nothing has changed in how he controls every aspect of her life. +5 to the author's warped view on relationships. Oh, v and he r*ped her again in the last chapters, along with choking the one year old son and threatening to kill him. Last chapter ends the story with a blow job. Think the author is the one with a mental disability. +10 disgust <<less

If you are here reading this then there is still time for you!

The MC is the too s*upid too live type who does nothing but cry (honeslty she resembles a 3 year old with lots of development issues orz).... her parents basically sold her off to the ML while her adoptive brother is a creap.... every other ML character wants a piece of her and she forgives the ML for everything she does..... when the novel introduced the amnesia plot I was gone

One of the most disgusting novels I have ever read. I absolutely do not recommend you to read this, I am a man, and I am not a feminist, actually, most the people say the opposite about me, even this me thinks of this a deeply sick novel (or a least one of the sickest characthers).

I cl**ked 3 stars by mistake. This deserves negative stars, if possible.

I'm going to save everyone the pain of reading this and just say that if you want to keep your brain cells intact and happily married, don't read this novel.

I'm not sure what the author is trying to do with making the FL this dumb (And oh boy.. she is dumb, and not in a cute way) but, whatever it is, it isn't working. If, in the beginning, the author specified that she has some kind of mental illness,... more>> then things would have been way different.

But guess what, the female lead is completely healthy

First of all, she probably has an IQ of one digit, because her actions, speech and even the way she approaches things are absolutely bizarre. It is like she is still a five year old, and didn't know how to grow up.

No matter how naive or sheltered someone is, no 18 years old would act like this.

Another thing is, the story has werewolves, vampires and what not, but... they are just there, for no reason. This whole story could have been written in a normal setting, and it would be still the same.

...

The male lead is a whole another story, he is abusive, a 'genius' (which I like to disagree with) and just... a whole mess. He is a supernatural being, so yeah it is totally normal for him to be like this (I'm being sarcastic if you haven't noticed.)

Just please, love yourself and don't read this novel. <<less

It's an awful story. The female lead, like all the reviewers before me have said, is a child. She sucks her thumb when she sleeps. Cries when she's hurt or upset as if she never developed self regulation. She is so gullible that even a 4 year old is more intelligent than she is. If you told a 4 year old that there were monsters under the bed, he/she would say "you're lying" but the mc? She would say "REALLY? OMG PROTECT ME! WAAAAAAH!"

She's also self centered and incapable of... more>> making decisions on her own. She told her dad to get her a baby panda and baby white fox (hello Arctic Fox?) But she lives in the city. How you gonna take care of them? She doesn't put them in natural habitats. She sleeps with her animals in her room!

The whole time the author describes her or talks about her thoughts and actions, just makes me think of an infant, not a child, an infant.

I keep thinking she's going to mature because the 2nd male lead keeps talking about how she's grown and maybe she would grow up and see him as a man.

The "alpha" men (I kid you not, some of the guys were described as such) are just an embarrassment. They take controlling to whole new level. I do like the occasional possessive male lead but their possessiveness is s*upid. They get jealous of their own children like wtf. <<less

Why I read this, ohh, my heart..

I read this up to Chapter 154, then I fed up. I hate the female lead s*upidity, so stuupiid and annoying. And the male lead, would you die if you tell her you love her. You know she's sooo f*cking stuppid, so you ought to reassure her, and tell her when she asked.

why the female in here all is sooo s*upid, the mother of the male lead, geez, why you begging a forgiveness for a person who constantly want to kill your daughter in... more>> law. Like duh, why don't you became a saint instead if you want to be self righteous.

Really insult the vampire and werewolf gene in here, they who live a loong life should be more wiser through the age, why they become dumber and dumber. <<less

I finished this story, but I have to be honest the characters are horrible. All the males are overcontrolling, I don't mind possesive characters, but the MC was just too abusive. The female character I was hoping would grow mentally as the story continued and would show character growth, but that was not the case. Instead the love story dissapeared and became a dramatic abusive story. I was even hoping the supernatural component may have helped but that was barely present; it only became important at the actual begining and... more>> actual ending of the story.

I am even surprised it had so many chapters, considering I felt it could have stopped with all of the roller coasters of emotions that just made their relationship horrible.

This story is not great or horrible, it's just way too over dramatic and the characters should have been developed better. That would have helped. <<less

The stars are jus awarding the translators hard work.

I picked this up as there were the vampires and werewolves tag.

BUT!!!

Turns out it was a great dissatisfaction. Bear in mind that this is my personal opinion.

I didn't find the MC or the ML likeable characters. The ML I could still tolerate (meh he just wasn't as annoying as the MC) as his character did show some the growth to understanding humanity.
Spoiler

Now the MC on the other hand was a mindless idiot throughout the whole dam plot! And here I was hoping she'd grow some brains but no. The entire storyline she was a weak crybaby. All she did was cry cry cry and oh bam see a ML look alike and oh accident result in losing her memories. I almost wanted to drop this but I was hoping just hoping it would become better.

My actual vote is 7 out of 10. I gave 5 stars to boost the rating :)

It's a fluffy love story between a simpleton girl and a childish man (that's all). The story line gives out shoujo manga vibe. Nothing serious or melodramatic (so far).

GRRRR--I pressed the wrong button and gave it two stars. First time I am reviewing, so there is bound to be a mistake I guess. Reading this book, I do not understand why Gun Gun end up liking an abusive person. There are some patterns here. The females are all air heads, dump, unaccomplished, and emotional. The males are all hard head, smart, cold, and king of the world. Her brother is not an exception. Yan Che is an abusive person. His physical abuse comes in pinches, not enough to... more>> say it's domestic abuse. Nonetheless, it happens enough for me to grow concern over it. Plus, there is one scene where he dragged her by the hair from the office to the adjacent bedroom. If that is not physical abuse, something is wrong with the Author. Yan Che's words are abusive, threatening to kill her, do things to her, and implies she is worthless. He wouldn't let her see her family, her brothers, and he decides things for her. There is a pattern of male superiority, abuse, and control. On the other Gun Gun is an air head. I am starting to think something is wrong with her. That man, Yan Che, is mol*sting her and she doesn't even get that!!!! He kicks her quite often, pinches her daily, says abusive things to her, never admits his wrongs, and decides things for her. He refuses to let her see anyone, have friends, and socialize. Then, she goes and says she likes him. Who in the hell likes someone who abuses them, physically hurt them, and restrict everything they do. I don't. The characters are very shallow. The best description I give each is Yan Che is abusive and Gun Gun is an extremely easily person to be pushover. She's not kind, she's childish. <<less

10/10 stars. Omg! Same reaction with rarestprogam. Do not be fooled with the low rating. I also almost dropped this novel.

The story is super fluffy and at the same time super frustrating due to mc's natural s*upidity thus causing her to have low self-esteem AND ml's pride who refused to just f****** admit his feeling which had caused all misunderstandings and miseries. Still, I can't help but fall in love with this novel and wanting to read more and see the end of their love story of "DOVE".

At the same... more>> time. I really pity Yuan ting du. I hope he also can have his own happily ever after by meeting his other half in the future.

Love this novel so much. Lots of love for the authors for creating this lovely novel. Recommended for others to read it. Plus, it has also been completely translated so you don't have to torture yourselves reading raw translated version. <<less

I just registered this account and I wanted to leave this a review because it is one of the very first novel's I read even before I discovered novel updates.

Well, I am giving it a 4 star rating. For my first book, I thought it was good enough for me to reread it again, back then, but I remembered how frustrating the couple were, with one being exceptionally dense and the other having an infuriatingly suffocating attitude at the beginning. They are not exactly an ideal couple or one I... more>> would think is an extremely healthy relationship either. But this book is definitely worth it for all the sweet, cute and fluffy moments, and sometimes I felt like they were living inside an animal kingdom filled with animals that resembled fluff balls.

It is sweet most of the time, but if you cannot take toxic relationship moments and they infuriate you do not read it. It is like watching a middle school couple trying to date and getting all frustrated because they hurt each other cause they cannot just say what they are thinking. <<less

I can't believe the number of negative reviews this novel has. I was hesitant to read it at first because of all the bad reviews but I really liked this! Yes the ML is the typical overbearing, possessive type (which is my guilty trope lol) but I don't think the book depicted him to be as bad as what the other reviews says. Same with the Female lead, yes she's naive and quite childish but I never found her to be super annoying.

I lovee the main coupe's dynamic. There's a... more>> lot of sarcasm, teasing, and bickering, but also a lot of caring underneath it all. I do agree that the main couple needs to communicate more but that's just typical Chinese drama in novels lol. Although there is one thing that not a single review has mentioned and it baffles me because this is such a rare thing to find in romance novels, ESPECIALLY in Chinese novels, that being the girl is chubby. And its not depicted as a bad thing or a flaw in the novel, I mean yes sometimes gun gun gets asked to eat less but never to slim down, especially not for her partner. The partner even likes her chubby and round side and calls her nicknames like "little chub, little riceball, etc." because of it (both in a teasing and doting way), which I find adorable to be honest.

Spoiler

there was even a time where gun gun got thinner and che made her eat more to get her round and spoiled again lol

[collapse]

In conclusion, don't get intimidated by all the negative reviews, give it a try especially if you like the common tropes found in Chinese novels. I think this novel was executed pretty well, the plot isn't that deep so it's perfect for someone who likes the possessive, angsty tropes and is bored and want to read something fun.

Enjoy! <<less
