My actual rating is 4/5, but I think this deserves a better overall rating than it has right now (2.9) so I rated it 5/5.

This story is essentially a compilation of "villain" MC/transmigrated FL stories. Maybe it's because of how short the stories are, but the pacing is weird and janky. Sometimes important plot points are glossed over or go too fast, other times it goes too slow and becomes boring. The concept and writing is good, but the pacing and lack of real buildup harms the quality a lot.

(c1-c22) First story summary+review:

Spoiler

FL dies and transmigrates into the FL of a novel set in the 80s in China. MTL is a bit confusing, but this seems to be a double layer transmigration story.

The original story was fairly vanilla, where the original FL married military man original ML, and after a few years the OML was promoted and earned enough that they were a happy couple. The female mob character who was childhood friends with OFL was jealous of them, so after transmigrating back to the past she conspired to switch the OFL's fiance from OML to her fiance, a useless gangster. In the second life, OFL had a horrible life, but near the end she realized the only people she can actually trust are her in-laws. In this 3rd life (technically just a repeat of the 2nd life), OFL is gone but out of regret, she wishes that FL will protect the ML (the "useless gangster"), appreciate her in-laws more, and save her grandfather.

The FL is steadfast and confident, but she's a little boring because she's so calm all the time. She doesn't have a system but does have a sick superstrength golden finger. The ML is honestly not bad, he's more like a modern day spoiled dumbass 19yo who likes to sneak out and play (illegal) games, but he has a bottom line and he knows how to ask for forgiveness when he makes a mistake. I love how ML's reaction to FL is always just "omg my wife is so cool and strong and amazing!" They're a reversal of the usual FL/ML dynamic, FL protects and dotes on ML and also does most of the work of providing for the family, while ML is more of a sideline emotional support who loves to act coquettish and be spoiled.

The story is really good at confronting chauvinistic thinking while not going too far to the point of being unrealistically over the top. I like how the ML's family is so harmonious and good despite their (or rather the mother and son) bad rep, and how they're the opposite of every dogblood in-law stereotype. The OML was also portrayed as a victim of the mob transmigrator, and I like that in the end he also still gets his miraculous happy ending.

I really hated the short length- the side characters barely show up unless necessary, and all the big conflicts feel rushed.

(c23-c40) Second story summary+review: (This one was a little harder to MTL since it kept switching some of the names, like Qiao An to Joan and Qiao Yi to Joey.) (CW: neurodivergent ML)

Spoiler

FL dies and transmigrates into a supporting villain in what seems to be modern China.

The original host's parents were servants of the Gu family, composed of granny Gu, grandpa Gu, dead Gu couple, and the main villain, grandson Gu. The host grew up a little spoiled and arrogant because the Gu grandparents liked her, but she had a secret crush on kid Gu. Kid Gu is neurodivergent* so he was bullied as a kid and became antisocial until he met and fell in love with the OFL. When he found out OFL was with someone else, he tried to antagonize them with the assistance of the host, but eventually failed and commited su*cide. The host's wish is for the FL to protect kid Gu, who is her ML.

(*the MTL calls it autism, but the description seems to describe a trauma+brain injury related state rather than autism)

FL has a more traditional task-based system that gives her missions to keep the ML alive, so there's more direction to the story. She has more of a personality, but she rarely gets to show it so she ends up seeming quite bland. I was extremely disappointed when nothing really came of her plan to buy the recipe cheat or her goal of becoming a food blogger. ML is cute, but most of the buildup of their relationship is while ML is still mentally childish and immature, and post-recovery they only interact once or twice. Pre-recovery I think they have a cute relationship, but post-recovery it feels like it has just turned into the stereotypical lifeless FL and domineering CEO ML pair.

The side characters are somewhat weird. I actually like that when the ML's brother, who likes the FL, thinks she likes the ML, his reaction isn't to target the ML, but to try and behave better so that FL will like him too (although he does still act like a jealous kid and try to compete with him). The reconciliation was very bittersweet but refreshingly happy compared to the usual dog blood plots.

Almost all of this one was actually paced properly, still fast but enjoyable, until the end. The way the ML's issue was solved was such bullshit, and also a whiplash compared to the rest of the story, but I sort of understand why it was needed to make the relationship less weird. I wish there had been more time to build up on his recovery without having to do this bullsh*t plot.

I have no words for how much I hate how it ends

(c41-61) Third story summary+review:

Spoiler

FL dies and transmigrates into a cultivation world.

MTLing cultivation worlds is always hard so bear with me here, I'm trying to apply common terms to iffy TLs.

The original host was the original FL who saved the main villain (our ML) after he was hunted down and nearly killed by Taoist cultivators. ML was born with a spiritual body that made him very good at cultivating. His master was extremely hard on him, and the other disciples were either openly jealous/scornful of him or pretended to be his friends so he would help them. Eventually they all turned on him, and he killed them all in revenge. After OFL saved him, he became her master and taught her how to cultivate, but at some point he ended up leaving (forgot why). OFL joined a righteous sect to continue training, and developed a love-hate romance with the sect heir (?) (the original ML). ML came back, and realizing OFL (who he loved) was now an enemy and had a different love, led his followers against the world. In the end, he let OFL kill him so he could die in the hands of the one he loved. It's not clear if OFL loved him back, but her wish was for the FL to keep him from killing anyone.

FL is the most interesting FL among the three, probably because she actually gets a lot of screentime on her own. She's a bit of a "dumb foodie", the type who seemingly only ever thinks about what she's going to eat next. Her entire cultivation journey is based around incidentally meditating and cultivating while cooking or farming. ML is gentle and really just wants to live in peace in the FL's little hut, and he watches over the FL like a quiet guardian.

This was the hardest to read, not just because MTLing is hard, but because the chauvinism (by the "baddie" side characters) is so much more common and extreme. It seems that the FL and ML are the only people who think FL should have agency. On the good side, I actually liked how the OML and FL had genuine chemistry as fellow foodies and the romantic conflict wasn't just there for the point of drama, and the sect conflict itself was quite reasonable.

The ending was... very underwhelming. It was definitely very in-character, and a novel way of dealing with a blackening ML, but I feel like it could've been more interesting if it was expanded on.

All in all, good starts, interesting characters, but too rushed and disappointing at the end. It's like the literary equivalent of the horse drawing meme. <<less

This novel has three heroines. They don't have the same soul, so basically it is just 3 stories about FL transmigrating into another world in order to save the villain. It is quite a good short novel. It is sweet slow paced novel. MTL is readable. The only drawback I think is the fact that ending are too rushed or incomplete. I wish they would be a little bit longer.
