Zhao Yan somehow transmigrated into a book as a male supporting character who had the same name and surname as him. Unfortunately, the original owner was married to a banished prince and then after that, he died on that same day. But it turns out, it was the banished prince who plotted for his death.

Zhao Yan was frightened by the original owner’s ending from the book. As a result, he ran away during the marriage and hid in the mountains.

Along the way, he met a handsome man who was chopping wood. Zhao Yan hesitated in fear, but when he recalled the original owner’s ending, he bravely rushed towards the man and cried as he begged: “Please save me, please…!”

The man did save Zhao Yan from the pursuers, but for some reason, he was unwilling to bring him along.

Zhao Yan didn’t dare to stay alone in the forest, so he could only follow wherever the man went.

In order to survive, Zhao Yan was always obedient and diligent. However, no matter what he does, the man still despises him so much.

At first, the man had a cold face every day: “Stop following me”

“Get lost”

“Don’t bother me, just go to sleep!”

But then later on, the man was suddenly smiling:

ML and MC's actions are justifiable and realistic at first, that's why I am hooked at the first few ch's. But it suddenly got downhill- I'm somewhat annoyed of ML's selfishness, being arrogant, possessiveness, and dishonesty. If the MC doesn't have a tragic past/childhood I won't hate much the ML, but the ML takes advantage of MC's timidity to tease and maltreat him. Also, MC sees ML as kind bcoz he is mistreated by his stepmom in his past life. It's unbearable for me everytime that the ML gets annoyed... more>> and yelled at him, the MC just bear everything.

The novel started with as ML planned to kill the MC using the bandits. And in the novel, the original Zhao yan, really died and was insulted (so our MC is very afraid, afraid to be insulted by several bandits). And this scenario is very understandable bcoz the ML didn't know yet about the MC's identity. But!! Even after MC's confession, The ML didn't feel conscience whenever the MC brought up the topic that the MC was very afraid of the banished prince bcoz that prince wanted to kill him and he would be insulted, instead the ML was slightly irritated due to bad mouthing the prince (but happy about the praises about Ling yuan) .

Also, the MC spilled out all the beans to ML, about his transmigration and the ending of the book (at ch20+). But the MC was being kept in the dark by ML about his identity and making fool of MC (lying, teasing and taking advantage)

I also hate how the ML said to MC that he shouldn't seduce others since MC has a fiancé. The MC is an airhead and pure ger so some are attracted to him. Also, Who in the first place wants to send the MC to bandits. Although the ML only wants the original to die but the original was eventually r@p3d and killed??? 😅 I tried to keep reading it, hoping that it will get better but the ML is getting unreasonable that it is honestly annoying. Will drop! <<less

The story is actually quite well-written, well-paced and is more focused on the MC & ML's life together. Much of the conflict is also centered in the differences in their background, the era and world. In a way, it is a slice of life genre. It isn't riddled with dogblood, convoluted conflicts, one-dimentional characters and revenge.

MC is not a munchkin so do not expect an MC who will revolutionize the ancient times with his advanced knowledge from the modern times. He's a simple teen who has his baggage, cowardly, imperfect... more>> but kind and sincere. Under all that, he is a very lonely and wounded soul.

And then we have the ML with a totally different background. He is complex and with deep thoughts. Talented and skilled, he is inherently strong and proud. He is protective of his own and is also vengeful. But like our MC, he also has his baggage. Under all these, ML is also just a lonely and wounded soul.

As the story progresses, both the MC & ML's characters grow and develop. Not by leaps and bounds but to a point where it really mattered. Their wounds heal and slowly, they open up, understand each other and reconcile their differences.

Essentially, this is a story of growth and healing. It just takes a patience and scrutiny to see the nuances that makes this story a gem <<less

ML is so selfish and arrogant. He very manipulative of MC. MC also has a tragic past but he teases him and tricks him into doing so many things he won’t want to do. I really hate Ml. I can’t even finish it. Its Sad cause MC also has a tragic past but noo ML always wants things to go his way. Need improvement tbh.

kept reading hoping for change in ML but he doesn’t get any better. Definitely won’t recommend even you’re looking for ML that shower MC with love... more>> to heal himself. I know MC also has his baggage but atleast he’s not the one getting maltreated and bullied everytime. ML is so annoying. Will definitely drop this! <<less

I guess the the main focus of this story is the relationship between MC & ML (and their guards) and not revenge or any face slapping drama. A bit of a bummer considering that I actually liked the synopsis of their current situation. The villain was also very interesting so kinda disappointed that the author chose to finish him off so quickly...

But I get it, this novel is more of a slice of life story than your typical revenge transmigration story.

All in all a decent read. Honestly,... more>> every interaction - even those with the villains - have been funny.

Side stories are surprisingly interesting too. I do wish to see more of the modern world with the original owner in the body of MC tho. <<less
